I just got done reading a pretty good summary/spoiler session of the Civil War (been trying to get back into the comic scene), and um...wow.
So basically Iron Man is a huge jerk now (which is fine, I never liked him), EVERYONE KNOWS WHO SPIDER-MAN IS, and Aunt May got shot.
And Hulk was in space.
And Captain America was subdued by a bunch of EMT's, Firemen, and Police Officers...
OK, apparently there were a lot of oversights throughout the Civil War (Vision could have gotten them into the Baxter building, Sue Storm used to LIVE THERE for crying out loud), but like, for the sake of storytelling that often happens (there were a lot of inconsistencies with Carnage throughout the "Maximum Carnage" event as well, these things happen I guess), but like...
They unmasked Spider-Man and I don't see how anyone can possibly ever like Iron Man again, that and the whole superhero registration act in general rather reminds me of the X-Men movies (unsure on whether or not this happened in the comics too), so, yeah...
Think the stuff that happened here will stay canon? Or will it be forgotten over time?
Any other stuff I should know about what happened, or general comments about it?

Yeah, I didnt read CW, but I heard it was pretty bad. Captain freakin America is in prison. Here's a rule: if you disagree with CAPTAIN AMERICA, you're wrong.

Seriously, he's Captain America for crying out loud. He wasn't trying to undermine the government really, he was just trying to call them out on a huge mistake they were making.
HE'S CAPTAIN AMERICA, I think he should have the right to do that.

I think what happens now...and i could be wrong, is that there was a little line in the registration act that read "you now work only for the government." So, the heroes that signed the registration act, are essentially part of america's army. That's what i've read.

I don't know how it can just be kinda forgotten over time that everyone knows who Spider-Man is now...

So, Iron Man rules America; everyone knows Spider-Man is Peter Parker; Aunt May has been shot; Captain America was subdued by a bunch of EMT's, firemen, and police officers, and he's in prison; and the Hulk is in space. Good lord, Marvel is like WWE: they're throwing crap to wall and seeing what sticks.

Cyclops should just pop out and blast everyone till they bow down to him.
That'd make me happy anyways

So what is Scott Summers doing in all this?

So what is Scott Summers doing in all this? The X-Men were stayin out of it, since there's only about 200 mutants left, and their kinda busy trying to reorganize the world's mutant populace while they save the world. EDIT: SPOILERS Also, he lost his powers for like 2 issues and shot Emma Frost like 3 times becuase it ws her fault. If I remember correctly, he's now got them back, and can control it. but I havent read Astonishing X-Men since issue 12, so any and all of this could be false.

Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch, went crazy, altered the world for a while, and then put it back, but she tries to depower all the mutants, but it only succeeded on about 6 million of them, leaving the rather miniscule amount of 198 mutants still with thier powers. The power went to this guy who stored superpowers, and he geave Magneto his powers back after killing Alpha Flight. Also, Quicksilver went to the Inhuman's city and stole a bunch of their Terragen Cyrstals, which gave him some limited time travel powers, replacing the speed powers he lost, and he can also use the crystals to give mutants back thier powers, but they usually come back too strong or make them insane.
I dont know much about what happened to Scott, but apparently, Emma was hanging out with the Helfire Club, who turned out to just be figmets of her imagination or something. But during the course of all this, she put Scott into a coma after revealing that he was keeping his powers fully on subliminally, and then put him in a coma. He got better, was powerless or something for a while, and he shot her from being a crazy rude female.

Cap was less subdued by the EMTs etc as he was by looking around seeing the carnage his group was causing.. i.e. turning the area into a warzone and being a danger to the very people he was trying to help. I was a bit dissapointed he gave up so quickly.

Yeah, that was M Day. Its weird now tho, cuz I think the twins did a double turn at M Day and now Wanda's the sympathetic face and Quicksilver is the heel who thinks he's a face.

Wow...crazy stuff. I'd like to see more of this kinda stuff posted. I don't read comics, but I'm a superhero mark, so I like reading this kind of stuff.
