See at first I thought this entire thing was like an alternate universe story being written, but the fact that all of this really happened within the real Marvel continuity just has me like...dear god.

Yeah, if y'all are comic fans, and you wanna read worthwhile stuff, dont be reading Civil War. Read Runaways, please. Read Astonishing X-Men, possibly the best thing to happen to the franchise in years. Read X-Factor, or Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Young Avengers, New Avengers, Mighty Avengers, read the good stuff. Dont waste your time with Fantastic Four and Black Panther and Iron Man and all that crap, read the quality books.

I'd actually like to read Astonishing, right now on my budget I just peek in on whatever I can find summaries/scans of.
Being an Emma Frost mark, sometime I am gonna give Astonishing X-Men a go.

Oh, you are going to HATE Kitty Pryde. For the same reasons I love her, but minus becuase she's clearly a closeted lesbian.

Well, first off, Kitty being gay is just one of my many, many lesbian delusions, becuase it seriously works far, far too well with her to be coincidental. Read something where Kitty interacts with Rachel Summers or Illyana Rasputin and tell me different, I dare you.
ANYway... in AXM, Kitty is Joss Whedon's (the writer, aka, the guy who made Buffy) favorite character, and the girl he attributes as being the main reason he's straight, cuz he loves her. And she and Emma argue. Constantly. And Kitty usually wins. It's not a squash, but its a win. As a total Frost hater, I loved it, but you wont.

Ahh. I think my love for both of them should level that out then.

Well, good then. In that case, you should totally love it, becuase AXM is by large and far the best thing I've seen the X-Men involved in in a comic book in a long time. As in like, when was the last time Chris Claremont wanst insane? Cuz thats when they were awesome. The 90s totally sucked for them, minus Gen X, which was freakin boss.

Yeah I haven't had any interest in the X-Men in a looong time, but AXM seemed promising, so I'm glad to be hearing good things about it

It's John Cassaday art, hard to beat that.

I know a guy who hates it, but I'll swear up and down that without it, the X-Men wouldnt be worth a damn cent without the films right now. Joss breathed new life into the franchise. Plus, he's a huge Runaqays fan, which you should also check out. Joss likes it so much, when the current writer, Brian K Vaughn, leaves at the end of the month, he's taking the book over. So you should check that out too, becuase Runaways is one of my favorite books ever. Plus, its got a rainbow-glowing alien lesbian with a crush on a goth witch who cuts herself, a jock with a pet velociraptor and a dead girlfriend who has a car thats a 60 foot frog with lasers, who beat a guy to death once, a cyborg, and the coolest 12 year old girl ever. Oh, and a Skrull who's the aforementioned alien's... shape-shifty wife/husband thing. Its pretty much the best thing ever.

It's John Cassaday art, hard to beat that. Yeah, that too. I love Cassaday's facial expressions, even if he doent quite know how to draw a nose sometimes.

OK, here's a noobish question.
I remember the Spidey clone saga, with Parker and Reily and all. From what I understand in one Spidey continuity Parker hung up the tights and let Reily take over.
There is still Ben Reily merchandise being produced.
Yet today Parker still fights crime as Spider-Man (I guess not of the same timeline), so I guess my question is, at present are Peter Parker and Ben Reily coexisting as Spidermen, or are they both at present their own continuity?
That was probably posed confusing as hell but yeah, suckas gots ta know.

Oh, you poor soul, you still suffer through the Clone Saga. Ben is dead. Norman blew him up and threw him out a window. Peter was always the real one. Peter is the one and only true Spider-Man.

If I'm wrong, someone feel free to correct me.

OK whew. Yeah, the whole clone saga confused the HELL out of me when I was younger. Thank you. Yeah, like, I remember being young and just NOT being able to wrap my head around what exactly was happening, and my friends who constantly told me "hehe Peter Parker isn't teh real Spider-Man!"...yeah I was all "NOOOO "
