Review {Spoiler}It's quite a basic road movie for the duration, packed with action right from the get-go that doesn't really settle down for the next thirty five or so minutes. When it does have quiet moments, it's devoted to explaining why A connects to B, it offers Skynet a way to still be a part of potential future proceedings if they choose to go that route (we know Sarah has successfully hunted Terminators with 'Carl's help, but it's still not known how many were sent, and with 'Carl' now dead, she'll have no way of tracking any further)
I question the point of promoting Edward Furlong's return when he didn't even say anything, and seemed to have been brought back just to show off that fancy de-aging CGI for him , Linda, and Arnie. It was quite effective nevertheless, and Linda sells John's death as well as you can expect...but sadly there's not a lot of elaboration on her grief other than one splendid scene in the forest outside 'Carl's house, where she admits to Dani that she never took a photo of her son and now she can barely remember his face.
Dani was the weakest actress of the three main females, but she didn't annoy me, if anything Grace was the one who whined a little too much about trying to protect her, while Dani absorbs all the chaos around her, decides she won't run from it, and really follows Sarah's lead. the only time I got annoyed at Dani was when she was conflicted over removing Grace's power source and killing her.
If you're looking for any concrete information on Legion, you don't get it here, they're likely saving it for further movies (if this movie makes bank that is), here the gist of it is "they never learn" from Sarah when she learns it's yet another rogue A.I
Arnie is as reliable in the part as he usually is, not too many jokes this time, and they land when there is, such as talking about drapes.
Grace's flashbacks to how she came to be augmented probably could have moved up to the latter stages of the film I feel, rather than while she lay in bed recovering in the getaway hut

Just saw a spoiler on a discord chat that surprised me and didn't think they'd actually do it. Kind of makes me not want to watch the film now to be honest.
I most likely will though just for childhood purposes. But man, they really just need to let Cameron close out the franchise with a proper future war film.

Dark Fate is just a mediocre movie ... and mediocricy is not good enough for this franchise. While it is not a terrible mess like “The Predator“ it lacks in action, suspense and good characters. While T3 and T5 were cheesy as hell they were more entertaining than T6. Linda Hamilton was useless in the movie. She could have been easily written out if it without any difference on the story. Same goes for Arnie. Arnie and Hamilton were problably the only reason that this bland script got a green light.
worst to best: T3, Dark Fate, Genesys, Sarah Connor Chronicles, Salvation, T1,T2

I did not think it was terrible and yea I agree majority it is better than anything after T2 but that is a low bar as everyone has said.
If I can summarize this movie in anyway it is CALLBACKS THE MOVIE because just about every single set piece and action sequence reminds you of something from the previous movies.
I thought Linda Hamilton was the best part of the movie but idk if it was because of her or just that the other characters were not as interesting.
Is this a great movie? no but it is fun for atleast a first watch.

I'm off to see it, now. Got no expectations and am just looking forward to seeing a popcorn action flick to give me some escapism.

I saw it and it wasn't too bad, nothing amazing but hardly an abomination, either. I also liked that the Terminator in this one looked so normal as it helped him blend in, plus him casually chatting with humans and them not being the wiser was subtly terrifying as it meant that you wouldn't know how dangerous he was until he killed you.

{Spoiler}I saw the leaked scene of a major plot point of the film that seemed so out of character for Sarah. The scene still kind of has me baffled to a degree as to why they even mentioned Edward Furlong in the first place/ {Spoiler}

I thought the film was fine. Ok. 7.5/10.
Problem is, the first two films are both 10/10 films.
It's better than T3 and Salvation (still haven't seen genysys).
I like a lot of the themes, family, 'For John' twist etc. I hadn't seen a single trailer so eveything including the beginning really caught me offguard!
My biggest gripe was the lack of police/government involvement. Like in T2, they visit Sarah trying to put the pieces together with the two T-800 sightings. I fully expected more elaboration from them. How could they not start making wider investigations? Especially with all the explosions at the start?? No one with phones captured the terminators crazy abilities? The 'special military friend' was super super downplayed. I expected more from him. Maybe the military are kind of in the know a little, maybe they all try to take uh 'them' down together.

Here's my review of the film. {Spoiler}Them using Furlong's likeness just to kill off the character of John Connor did upset me. Why even bring him back in the first place? Granted Furlong has himself to blame for getting involved in drugs and alcohol abuse, domestic issues, etc. But still from a character perspective it made no sense for Sarah or John to be that unprepared. Overall though? I did enjoy the film for what it is and was. People need to accept that nothing will ever top the greatness of the first two films. That form of magic will never be recaptured. About as close as we will get to that idea if Cameron returning to solely to direct and write the film. I did enjoy the new timeline idea as the future sequences left a lot to the imagination and looked quite spectacular too. Quite honestly I wouldn't mind a film centering around the 2042 timeline with the Legion program. Great to see Linda and Arnold on the big screen again interacting with one another, plenty of callbacks to all Terminator films prior to this one in particular. Overall it's a step in the right direction, was entertaining, and didn't leave me feeling as if my time was wasted.

{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Boy, what a f*** you to the first two movies. I debated leaving after John Connor died, but I stayed.
So what's to say after the events of this movie that a new unexplained terminator kills the new "John Connor"?
