I’ve played about 3 hours and half of it was pretty much cutscenes. That’s expected for a Kojima game but I can’t say I’m enjoying the story, especially after giant bomb shat pretty hard on it and how it apparently doesn’t go anywhere. There are some goofy bits, and it’s funny how the baby is basically Norman Reedus’ pet but can’t say I’m really getting anything from it and would have preferred a much more minimalist take to the story that gives more mystery to the weird (and artistically beautiful) post apocalyptic world, especially since by the end of the game Kojima uses hours of dialogue to explain everything.
As for the gameplay, again I’ve only played about an hour but it’s pretty enjoyable and relaxing . Mapping out where to go and what you want to take with you is good, and leaving equipment behind knowing that it might help someone else and vice versa is a really cool feature.

I’m watching a play through and I have mixed opinions about it, it looks peaceful and like a new genre of gaming, but it’s still just walking and carrying packages. I’ll wait when it’s half priced or something.

I meant collaborating online and helping out other users, but I think Dark Souls did it first. Ok that bit. Yeah I think DS did something similar. But that is pretty cool. Which I think a lot of reviews are missing, even the ones praising the game. Kojima himself in interviews has said the online co-op is, if not THE point, a major point he's trying to make with the game. To play without it (like some had to), or with a very limited version of it feels like it's like watching a movie but not watching the narrative important scenes in it. You're missing the full picture. From the jump Kojima's been honest about what this game is when he said in a very early interview that it was (in his mind) the next logical evolutionary step to something he was trying to achieve in MGSV (a particular cutscene in the game that can only be triggered under very particular circumstances). Which isn't terribly shocking if you know anything about Kojima or his games. It's more or less the same message he's been desperately trying to say for a while (and usually it gets little more than a passing mention by those reviewing his works or by its fans).

I'm only at chapter 2 but the gameplay in this is so serene. It feels very chill walking around. Also about half of the ingame verbiage has "chiral" in it so it's like "yayyy thas me"

Kojima knows he could have just written comics, right?

I lose a lot of love for this game trying to navigate through the BT areas. Shitty stealth is not fun.

I watched some videos and I still have no f***ing clue what's going on
Looks like FetchQuest: The Video Game
Tho this looks like one of those games you get more enjoyment playing then looking at tho the scenery is gorgeous as f***. Will most likely catch it on sale

Hit the first boss fight last night, and it was a fun (if a little easy) showdown. Wish there was more combat and less stealth in the minute-to-minute gameplay. I want to mow down BTs and not awkwardly sneak through them.

This is The Postman: the Game, right?
Also, I just wanted to see someone do something hilarious and use the dead body you carry as a nuke right when you start the objective on disposing of it, but nope. Didnt happen.

I pretty much got an idea of what this game is by watching these videos.

Yeah, these BT “stealth” sections are killing my like of the game. Invisible enemies are my pet peeve in gaming. Especially in a stealth setting.

I’m about 10 hours in and I’m honestly loving it for the most part. I spent 6 hours last night just doing deliveries that don’t effect the story and enjoyed every bit of it. Except the BTs, they show up too frequent, and honestly the easiest current fix for the game would be to remove that dumb mini cutscene that happens whenever they show up. The mules are also pointless and don’t provide any challenge other than wasting your time. Other than that, despite still being really early, I’m not regretting my purchase.

Glad I’m not the only one. I’m loving everything when BTs aren’t ruining it. Mules are fine because it’s next to mindlessly wail on some peons as you’re going from point A to B.

This game is equal parts Shadow of the Colossus, Breath of the Wild and MGSV, so it scratches a very specific itch for me that makes me absolutely love this batshit insane world Kojima's created and love the gameplay. I don't mind the stealth personally. It almost feels like it wouldn't be a Kojima game without the stealth.
And for as weird as the story is, it isn't as hard to understand as some people make it out to be. It's definitely out there and won't be for everyone, but it's pretty straight forward.
I get that this won't be for everyone, a very specific niche game maker has made an even more niche game. It's very much an indie game that somehow got a triple A budget.
I'd say pretty much what I've said from the start, if you like Kojima and like his games, you'll probably like this. If you don't, you probably should skip it unless you're a big fan of games like SotC and BotW.

The more I hear about it, sadly, the les i think this is a game for me. After I heard the ending is a 2 hour cut scene I lost interest.
