Just something I remembered on my old job. Wasn't sure if it was from quitting or getting fired, but probably the latter, but I remember the IT guy making a big mess of things when he left, enough to cause several days where work was canceled. At the time, it was a welcome break since there was a lot of crunch time, but that was kind of a messed up move to do.
So, people of FAN, any other stories where a person from work caused a mess on their way out?

While it happened about a month before I got my job, there were two IT guys who didn't get alone. When one of them quit, he erase ton of files and programs that the other guy needed to d his job effectively.

At the morgue we had a security guard that quit and had changed the locks on all the lockers in the break room. He got fired for sleeping at work and showing up very drunk. He would show up drunk at least 2 nights a week. I suspect he knew he was going to get fired. So the last shift he worked he cut the padlocks off all the lockers and put new ones on it.
Not sure why. We just got someone to cut the new locks off.

Once he got promoted to a unit supervisor position, he got tapped to do investigations into all manners of allegations in other departments. He had a number of stories to tell, and half of them ended with someone going scorched earth on their way out the door.

Nothing all that exciting unfortunately. We had one person who had a really easy shift where she just worked part times two days a week. She barely did anything then just stopped coming in. So there were some holes in the schedule for some weeks, but after that things proceeded as normal.
At my old job I also had a boss who came in much less than she was supposed to and would lie to people about where she was. Before she left she had one of those “You’re either on my side of their side meetings.” Some suck ups pretended to sympathize with her. I just stayed quiet. After that I think she officially resigned so she wouldn’t be fired. The bigger bosses gave us all gift certificates after that since we had been picking up all her slack the whole time she was there. Not much of a thank you, but what can you do but leave. Which I eventually did.

This is why in some companies when someone is fired it is essentially "pack up your shit and get out, while this security officer watches you"

As an aside when I left the call center it went extremely well... except for my department manager throwing a suck attack and telling me in front of the whole team I was making a mistake by working somewhere where I make twice as much money in fewer hours with considerably less stress.

I worked as an assistant manager and was having some issues with the store manager. She would under-staff my shifts to the point where I was running two departments and also covering breaks. Her shifts were completely covered. She always had plenty of time to sit around and eat. This was at a pet store and she had zero knowledge on fish and reptiles. This was my department and she would constantly override any decision I made. She also started talking bad about me to the other employees. I got tired of working all weekend, so I requested Sundays off. She got mad about that. Nevermind that she was taking off Saturdays to watch cartoons.
One day we had a huge disagreement over the care of a saltwater fish. She ignored what I told her to do with it and it died. I waited for her to leave for the day. I left my keys on the desk, locked the door, and walked out.

Years ago I worked at a call center, one of the guys a couple of seats down was arguing with a customer very loudly. Finally he said,
"Sir, sir, sir... we're not getting anywhere let's take a second and calm down. I will tell you a joke...
Who has little balls and hangs upside down? A bat!
Who has big balls and just hangs up?"
He then hung up the phone and walked out.

I was that guy once! Lol I worked grocery i was the grocery manager. My boss was a total jerk (he ended up getting fired after many complaints to h.r) so when I put in my 2 weeks he warned me not to drop a huge order on the crew on my last day. So I just kept ordering really small orders. When I left my assistant who took over for me had to write a huge order. The funny thing was i was delivering to my old job that morning. No one said hi to me 😂

I couldnt even enter and get my stuff without someone scorting me(didnt have to be a guard tho).

We had a guy get fired for having a bad attitude and not wanting to do his job. He called in a threat to burn down the building. The person who answered the phone recognized his voice immediately.

A couple years ago, we had a new administrator who happened to be the evaluator for my department. After a few weeks, she apparently decided she couldn't work with one of the other administrators, and told the principal one morning that "either she goes or I go," to which the principal said, "So you're resigning then?"
Well, before she officially resigned, she gave everyone in my department unannounced performance evaluations, all on the same day, and ripped each of us to shreds, giving us all the lowest possible rating on the scale. Then at the end of the day she informed us via email that she had just turned in her resignation.

I used to work hospital security. We took off the contract from another company. When that company left, the took all of the keys off of the keyrings and dumped all these keys in a big bucket so we had hundreds of keys and no idea what they opened.

I work in a tire production plant. We had a guy who worked there for roughly 10 years.
Over that time there were 8 official complaints about him and multiple others that were never logged because our boss didn't take them seriously.
There were many forms of harassment and bullying, including sexual harassment.any cases of guys complaining about comments made and constant staring at younger guy's private area.
There was one person her especially went after for as long as he had been working there. He harassed all new people, myself included to the point I called in sick a few times because I couldn't deal with him. One day he went after someone who said that's it. I've made complaints for years and nothing. He threatened the company with contacting someone outside the company to investigate all the complaints. They finally took the issue seriously and he was suspended pending investigation.
When he had a meeting with the plant hr board he went off on them and told some members off and said some very inappropriate things to them. He was fired not long after the suspension. There was a bit of a celebration among many of his victims.

When I was Manager for Burger King, the store was basically run horribly. The GM had no real transportation which meant I had to open everyday, in addition to closing. I basically held the store together. Anyway, I get fired for reasons beyond my control. No biggie, I was planning to quit soon. But my absence basically meant the downward spiral. Store was opening late, sometimes not at all. Managers and GM/DMs were stealing money and product. Less than 6 months later, the store was shut down completely.
While that's probably not the intention of thread, I still find it funny in hindsight.
