Max Muscle was a wrestler and bodyguard character in WCW in the mid 1990s. He was Diamond Dallas Page's bodyguard and partner. He later joined the Dungeon of Doom, shortening his name to just Maxx. He was never really focused-on much in WCW.

I remember him being the muscled up beefcake with the slick backed pony tail and shades who came out with DDP. Don't know if I ever saw him wrestle or not but was into all of DDP's storylines with Maxx and Kimberly. RIP.

I remember him. That sucks. The amount of WCW guys who are dead is really depressing.

Sad. I had his WCW Magazine poster up in my room, definitely cast an imposing figure and had good chemistry with DDP and later with Jimmy Hart.

I remember him, but I don't recall any of his matches, just as a bodyguard for DDP.
Rest in peace, sir.

As someone who consumed as much wrestling as possible in the 90s. I swear he wrestled on every other episode of Main Event, WCW Prime and Worldwide. Hate to hear of his passing.

Sad news. I remember him doing quite a few enhancement matches on the WCW Saturday Night and Main Event shows. I watched everything I could back then. The World War 3 battle royals had me interested in every character around because I was always trying to figure out who the 60 wrestlers that were going to be in it were. Maxx made it into the first one back in 1995. I believe that was his one and only PPV appearance.

I remember him as the bodyguard for DDP back in the day and how he would only say "Absolutely" whenever DDP asked him something. RIP.

Damn, always wondered what happened to Maxx (he had 2 x's in his name at one point yes? - it was the '90s after all) Muscle.
RIP sir.

This might be a strange memory to put in an obit thread, but it's a genuinely fond memory.
When Bryan and Vinny started reviewing retro Nitro, in the first or second episode they referenced the advertised matches for Saturday Night. One of which was Renegade vs Max Muscle.
Bryan's reaction was an amused (and amusing) "that sounds like the worst match of all time".
That is in no way intended to badmouth Max. His career may not have been stellar but he was part of something that always makes me smile.

No joking here - I just searched "John Czawlytko" on Twitter and the 2nd tweet to come up has the promo image of this very match. twitter.com/WNSource/status/1145825541292883969

I only ever saw Maxx on TV twice - once as DDP's bodyguard and once as a DoD member. RIP.

I always liked him and thought he should have been a bigger deal than he was. Not main event level or anything, but maybe a TV title contender or something. RIP

I was thinking about him recently, actually. I've been working on a fantasy booking project and was trying to figure out who was around and who could be a roleplayer. I remember him being a big factor in DDP's early push and the angle with Johnny B Badd, where they kept him from facing Sting on Saturday Night. RIP to yet another recognizable face from my youth.
