I'm probably late in noticing this, but Will kind of comes off as a silent protagonist in an RPG.

Just finished. Wasn't bad, but Season 2 was better. All that said, the best part: {Spoiler}The Never Ending Story scene!

Nearly done with the first episode. Do they cut back on the music? It's excessive. I get it, it's the 80's--no need to play every single song made in the decade.

Jesus, Max is practically as unlikable as her step-brother.
Hopper was cool as shit in the first season but he's now a pathetic, bumbling goof. Fatherhood, I guess.
Will just wants to play some motherf***ing D&D. He's not with all this teenage drama, haha.
Steve and Dustin are doing.. stuff. Jonathan and Nancy are also doing stuff.
This sucks so far.

I enjoyed more than Except that whole communist base felt like a bad movie parody, the villains were so corny.
But the horror setting was sl unsettling and top notch, bettee than the last ones.
Poor traumatized Will just wants some escapism.

I just finished the season. I liked it a lot. Stronger than season 2, right on par with 1 for me. The actors are all great, the direction was great, and I liked where they went with the story. Man they REALLY upped the gore and horror elements this season. I was squirming a lot lol. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Some standout scenes for me:
-The hospital fight, with Johnathan and Nancy killing the newspaper guys and Eleven fighting the monster. Really tense stuff.
-The first confrontation between Billy and Eleven. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. The Billy actor was phenomenal this season.
-NEVER-ENDING STORY. I was dying. The reactions were priceless.
-Them trying to convince Erica to help. She was the breakout star for sure.
-The scene with them cutting out of El's leg was ROUGH. I had to look away.
-The final confrontation was incredible. I marked for the whole squad taking part in the fight, throwing the fireworks at the monster. Billy's sacrifice was touching. They did a good job making him sympathetic in the end.
-Hopper's letter was really moving, and Eleven's reaction to it and his death hit me hard. Great stuff.
Thoughts on where they go next? Is Hopper alive in Russia? Will Eleven get her powers back? Are they moving on from Hawkins next season? Maybe it's time to give that town a break lol.

I thought it was garbage. A few of my issues. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} No interaction between the Byers family. I would've liked to see how they were dealing with the aftermath of everything as a family. Felt like Jonathan was barely even there this season.
The Russians, specifically dime store Terminator. Cornball central, and didn't gel with the tone of the show at all. Alexei was fun at least.
Erica. Jesus Christ, she was absolutely insufferable. Perhaps she wouldn't have been as bad if portrayed by a different actress. The acting in this is pretty much uniformly terrific otherwise, so her awfulness really stood out.
The charming "bromance" Steve and Dustin developed at the end season 2 was basically non-existent. It was about the Dustin/Erica and Steve/Robin pairings. Robin was okay, but Steve and Dustin were a great duo that people responded to favourably and should have done more together.
The writing felt completely aimless when the crazy shit wasn't going down. Felt like nothing was happening, like the characters were twiddling their thumbs waiting for monster attacks like I was.
Lucas and Will were basically background props for the majority of the season.
Their unwillingness to kill off (or even injure) any of the main characters *during* the season sucks so much of the suspense out of the monster scenes--we know all the important players are going to be okay. These kids sure are great at fighting off enormous interdimensional demons with slingshots, fireworks, and gumption!
Positives:
The acting--with the exception of Erica--has been exceptional from the start. Dacre Montgomery (Billy), in particular, was brilliant. This show is going to spawn quite a few huge stars, with Finn and Millie already being there.
Murray is pretty amusing.
And that's about it. This was shit.

{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} Eleven had her leg badly injured and Jonathan had to cut deeper into her leg to try and pry whatever the Flayer had done to her out of her before she painfully removed it herself. She also lost her powers, that's pretty major. Steve got the crap beaten out of him by the Russians. Hopper got beaten up multiple times and is for all intents and purposes dead. This isn't Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead where they're just gonna axe main characters left and right. The kids have also been shown several times to be very resourceful so them fighting these things off isn't as far fetched as you try and make it seem.

Not going to bother with the spoiler tag again since it is the spoiler thread. I'll leave some spaces though. Eleven losing her powers was interesting and would've been a nice storyline for the middle part of the season when it felt like nothing was happening. They seem to save most of the excitement for the finale but have lost the ability to tell compelling stories in the quiet moments. Season 2 was similar; just kind of a slog to get through but had an exciting finish. If this ran in the traditional episode-a-week format I think people would lose interest. I don't know what happened--season 1 had me invested in every character's story, with the Upside Down stuff being kind of a fun cherry on top. I'm not asking for a massive bodycount, but there should be more consequences to taking on a freaking enormous and (allegedly) powerful monster from another dimension. I just can't get invested when the baddie is Hugh Morrus to the kids' Goldberg. The only damage he caused within the group was El's leg and he went down to fireworks. That's lame as hell. Resourceful? Shit, that's an understatement--these kids are like a highly skilled paramilitary unit. They don't ever seem scared or vulnerable or like the kids way in over their heads that they are.

I identified so much with Will this season. The one friend whose not in a relationship and just wants everyone to shut up about their bullshit drama and play D&D. Also resonates with me because my D&D group had to cancel three weeks in a row.

Just finished episode 4.
Awesome series so far. Steve and Dustin remind me so much of me and my brother with the bickering and sniping at each other but caring about each other.
Enjoying the season a lot.

I think this was a lot better than Season 2 but Season 1 is still the best. I kinda hated the ending, not the Hopper stuff...but the Byers leaving situation. We know 11 is coming back right? But it just seemed out of nowhere that they would pick up and leave. Hopper had a throwaway line about the mom putting the house up for sale and what not, or at least looking into it, but it didn't feel like they were going to do anything with that. Then in the end they're moving, it just seemed rushed. There is still a demagorgon...does Will not have that sense anymore?

I loved the new season. I don't think Hopper is dead. He has to be the American in the post credits scene.

Demagorgen he doesn't really have a connection to.

Just finished the season, and I think it was another phenomenal trip to Hawkins. You always worry about bringing new characters into a show or expanding the roles of minor players and how it’s going to affect the chemistry of the cast, but they absolutely knocked it out of the park. Loved the new pairing of Steve and Robin (even if I did miss Steve and Dustin broing down from season 2), Erica continued to be a source of so much comedy in her larger role, and Brett Gelman is never not insane. The Russian bunker stuff was a little hit and miss for me, but the mind flayer story and the atmosphere that came along with it more than made up for the weaker points.
I really don’t think these kids get enough credit for how great they are. Every single child on this show is well-acted and each has a defined character that shines. People come for the horror and the sci-fi or the 80s setting, but the real strong point of the show is the interpersonal relationships the characters have.
Every f***ing time Nancy and Jonathan step up to lead those kids, I silently cheer to myself.
And this season reaffirmed my life’s goal of physically fighting every person in the world that doesn’t love Steve Harrington. The man is an absolute treasure and should be included in all future discussions of greatest TV character arcs. Absolutely loved the scene where he admitted his feelings for Robin and then she revealed her feelings for Tammy Thompson. The way that was handled was A++.
As for the Hopper situation... I’m torn. The show is going to miss him a ton and he’s one of my favorites for sure, but I don’t know if I want them to jump through the hoops necessary to bring him back. It may just be better to let him die a hero’s death and stay dead. Though the big thing that helps the argument to bring him back is that his death and the situation surrounding it felt a little bit undercut by Bob dying last season. Both love interests for Joyce dying on suicide missions was a little much. I still felt it, but in the back of my head I’m going “didn’t we just do this?”
Billy getting his redemption moment was great as well. I was worried they were going to show those humanizing memories and then never let Billy actually get to be human again, but they did, and it worked. Stellar performance from the red ranger this season.
The Neverendinf Story song absolutely killed me. That was brilliant.

With all the talk of evil creatures and such can we talk about Mikes hair? It looks it it's trying to consume him and nobody seems to notice.
