He had his moments.
I personally loved his crazy run in WCW, made that gimmick work better than it had any right to.

He was a solid worker who gets dunked on worse than he should because he was outclassed by most of his contemporaries who are some of the all-time greats.

Cole fake laughing while Chavo was humiliated over and over by Hornswoggle was a dark day for wrestling

I never really liked New Chavo. Always preferred Chavo Classic: And who was an incredible, innovative wrestler in his prime. Could have been an even bigger star than he was if he didn't have such an attitude problem.

Chavo's weird, because I recognize him as a good wrestler and above-average with charisma too.... but something about his booking or his presentation just BORED me.
It might go all the way back to WCW, when he was in matches with luchadors I found much more intriguing, but he was booked to be above them. But his run in the cruiserweight division of WWE, too. Everything he did, I was like "Uh huh. Where's Tajiri?"

In WCW Chavo was one of my favorites.

Chavo had three really great runs (Pepe, Los Guerreros, and the OOH Chavo run with his dad), but was generally forgettable in between.

And that to me is why he's such a polarizing figure in wrestling. I loved all three of these runs too but there seemed be so many more downs than ups for him. He was getting embarrassed by Hornswoggle in one of the worst feuds I've ever seen and the damn thing felt like it dragged on for a year. Yeah he had some solid runs but you can't put the guy that jobbed to a midget on numerous occasions in the Hall of Fame can you?

I had completely forgot about Kerwin White. I don't care what anybody says that was a great gimmick as far as what it was supposed to be accomplishing. All of a sudden a Mexican guy from a very proud legendary Hispanic family wanted to throw it all away because he wants to be a stereotypical white guy. The golf cart entrance complete with caddy, this terrible knock off Frank Sinatra theme song, and the look with the blonde hair. It was brilliant.

Could have been an even bigger star than he was if he didn't have such an attitude problem. He also got a Mountain Goats song about him, whereas Chavo Jr. only got a couple lines in a Mountain Goats song (and Eddie only got three words in a Mountain Goats song!)

He couldāve been great but they always booked him like a complete joke.
That Hornswoggle Tom & Jerry āfeudā killed him. Easily the worst thing in 2009 WWE after the Guest Hosts.
During that Rey feud, he showed he could be a dispicible heel. Probably the most āmain eventā heās ever looked.

He was always presented as a loser who had lucked in to winning in WWE. Not really his fault but he also never showed he was much more than a really solid wrestler. I mean it says a lot that him winning the ECW title officially downgraded it from world title status when he entered the Royal Rumble still as champion.

It was weird watching go from being the guy who took out Rey to being Hornswoggle's personal jobber in just two years.
Lot of people might forget, but I remember back in '09 people in the IWC were pretty damn peeved that a really decent wrestler who is part of the Guerrero family was getting that treatment.
Time makes it easy to forget how utterly brutal 2009 Raw was.

Seriously, Pepe is the first thing I think of when I think of Chavo.

Even in LU I never could take him seriously, and I think that's about the best he could be used. It always felt like he was taking up a spot that someone more talented could be filling. His Lucha Underground run was like a brief synopsis of his entire career. He had a nice feud with Rey. He also had a 2 week feud with Cage over a medallion that existed only to fill time, and an absolute stinker of a feud with Blue Demon Jr that was by far the worst part of season 1. That's the story of Chavo. I'll add that I really enjoyed his Crazy Chavo feud with Eddie in WCW. In particular, when Eddie tried to punish him by forcing him into a match with Stevie Ray, which Chavo lost by submitting to the pre-match handshake.

In any other family he would seem a lot better than he is. But he is definitely overrated, even if he is absolutely a boy.
