We will also accept Write in Votes (although, please mention it as such) for movies not included on the list I'm getting the choices off of. However, I will not remove any from the list (I can't by that point), so, if you want to make your case why a certain movie isn't a horror film, make it. Hell, you might end up swaying a few voters from going in that direction, but I can't/won't remove it from the list or DQ it.

I've seen PROMETHEUS and MANIAC from this list. PROMETHEUS was just kinda there, while I enjoyed the style of MANIAC and Elijah Wood's performance a great deal. So MANIAC gets my vote.

Prometheus-I thankfully waited and rented this from Netflix. What a pile of steaming donkey feces. Now I am not a huge fan of the Alien franchise. But this was just bad.

Argento's Dracula 3d-I enjoy most Argento films. Even the ones that arent that good at least look amazing. This looks like crap. And most of the CGI work is Sega CD levels. I doubt we get another film from Dario before he passes.

Piranha 3DD-I so far have enjoyed every film from this franchise. This is the 3rd worst film in the series,Piranha II is the worst and the 90s remake is second worse. I do wonder why this was shot in 3d when I dont think it got any kind of theatrical release. And every home video release I have seen of it is in 2d. I voted for this. It was the king of turd mountain.

Dark Shadows-I was at Coast Con the day the first trailer for this came out. The trailer was bad but I thought the film might be decent. Nope it was horrid garbage.

The Dead Want WOmen-Full Moon film and one I had never heard of. Somehow the local Dirt Cheap store got over 200 copies of this on DVD. They marked it down to a buck. Eric Roberts does his normal show up and film for a day thing. The FX work goes from being pretty damn good for a low budget film to being some of the worst I have seen.

Maniac is the best movie on this poll. Took a chance on it by buying the blu ray without seeing it first and I don’t regret it. It got my vote.

Prometheus....is not a good movie. I’m wondering if the people who voted for it watched the same movie I did.

Wow, I assumed I'd be writing about a tie right now, but we got a last minute vote that put the Maniac remake over the top. I am very cool with this, as it's the movie I voted for as well. It is a pretty great remake that is true to the original, while being drastically different. I loved the fact that a lot of the movie is shot from the killer's POV, and Elijah Wood does a great job as the lead (and titular in a way) character. Definitely check this out, even if you weren't a fan of the original.


As for the second place, I really wasn't a HUGE Alien fan, so, I went into Prometheus with a completely open mind, and....I liked it. I wouldn't say it's the best of the franchise (that would still be the first two movies), but this one was interesting, as it went in a very heady direction that I don't think audiences were expecting, hence, the very split feelings about it. I liked it, and in many ways, this was definitely the best Made movie out of this list, but I went with Maniac due to the fact that Prometheus is waaaay more of a Sci-Fi movie that happens to dip its toe into horror territory towards the end, whereas Maniac, while being a more arty film that the grimy (and I say that in a good way) original film, but it is VERY much a horror movie. Prometheus....at least in my opinion....is good. Not GREAT, but definitely good.


I am one of the few that liked Tim Burton's Dark Shadows remake, and I was a fan of the original show. In fact, it's kind of crazy that this movie is kind of an amped up silly version of the first actual Dark Shadows film from the 70's. It was harmless fun.


Chernobyl Diaries was an OK "found footage" movie about a group of dumb ass young adults that go sniffing around the site of the Chernobyl melt down to soon find out there is certain death there, and not entirely from the radiation. This was decent for what it was.


I finally want to mention Dario Argento's Dracula 3D, which, at times, is pretty damn good, but man, there is some stupid terrible shit that happens at certain spots of the movie that keeps me from being able to say anything more than this movie just being....OK. It's too bad that so many horror film legends are ending their careers off with kind of bleugh movies. I mean, Wes kind of made out the best of this group with Scream 4, although, it's very much a pointless movie, but the point is that Argento's Dracula is not as great as it could have been. It's decent at times, though.....plus, you get to see his daughter nekked. Always a good time.


All right....I actually saw a few on this one. It won't last. List 7 coming up.

i will not disagree with MANIAC winning

don't get me wrong, it was another pretty close call for me, PROMETHEUS with that epic opening and astonishing crash sequence THEN there was that ending!

but MANIAC has a certain, dare i say, charm ..... and it's first-person viewpoint too, very PEEPING TOM ..... and it's on the dare i say it, the UK horror channel on saturday night, and instead of some boring soccer that'll get snowed off or sommit i'll watch frodo kill some people again

and basically DARK SHADOWS was what would be what WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS would be ..... that's a lot of would, vampires would hate that ..... hehe ..... would the tv show wasn't shown in the UK i think and that's a shame, too much herman munster and the thing saying IT'S CLOBBERIN TIME!!! i guess

but i honestly really enjoyed it and WOULD watch it again!
