I got started on wrestling by watching the ppv's on cassette when my mom would go to the movie rental store.
Summerslam... I'm wanting to say 94? 95? Was what got me hooked, specifically Kama Mustafa and The Undertaker. The Undertaker was just... it, as far as I'm concerned. Big tall sumbitch dressed in black but he's somehow the good guy? I was all over that.
The other thing that got me hooked (once again, VHS tapes so no real chronological order) was Jake the Snake, specifically face Jake. My inner 6-7 year old thought "Here's a guy who gives those dastardly villains what they REALLY deserve"

Probably my grandfather. He showed me wrestling. I don’t recall it at all. I saw WrestleMania 5. I recall it all. I’m still sure the tape didn’t really break, my parents just got f***ing sick of it. I was 6.

I don't know if it really was any one guy... The first wrestling i saw was Stampede, and it was the Bulldogs and the Hart family... but it was also wanting to see the heels get their come-uppance. Mine was Stampede as well. I think it was Bret Hart vs Kerry Brown in a strap match. I had no words for what I was watching but the intensity of it and the blood hooked 10 year old me. And when Stampede was bought out by Vince, I wasn't crazy about the WWE. It seemed too slick. I liked my wrestling kinda grimy*. Then I saw UWF with DiBiase and Williams and I was hooked again. *Which is super weird now because I love Lucha inspired stuff like CHIKARA

Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko. I loved the kind of anti-characters they portrayed. Not a lot of bravado, rarely spoke. They spent very little time telling people how they were going to kick their asses and a lot of time doing it, and even when they lost they made their opponent look like they’d been through hell.
With the benefit of 20 years I can see how important character work is now, but I’ve still got a real soft spot for stoic, stiff characters.

John Cena. I started watching in 2001 but once I saw rapper Cena I was beyond hooked.

Can't say it was just one, but I knew the exact moment. I was a kid watching an Saturday Night Main Event with my parents and a couple of their friends. During an Ultimate Warrior v. Earthquake match, which I was enjoying, my parent's friend says, "You know it's all fake. They flip a coin backstage to decide who wins."
At that moment I realized two things; that guy was an asshole, and second, pro-wrestling is one of the craziest things that humankind has ever done. I have been enjoying it, and learning about it, ever since.

Myers, FL - Lee Civic Center - February 19, 1991 Wrestling Challenge taping: The Ultimate Warrior pinned Earthquake (w/ Jimmy Hart) with a bodyslam and splash at 5:36; late in the contest, Warrior kicked out of the sit-down splash (WrestleFest 91, WWF Wrestling's Fan Favorite Matches) (also a Blu-ray exclusive on 2015 Warrior set)

I know it was on a major network, my family didn't have extended cable, and it was at night. It wasn't a tape.

Outside of two specials on Fox, WWE only worked with NBC as far as major, non-cable networks. There was never a Warrior/Earthquake match on any PPVs, Saturday Night's Main Event, or the weekly TV shows. That Coliseum Video match was the only one they had that was released to the public.

Warrior did appear a lot on SNME, so it's very possible he was involved in the match you watched if it aired at night on a major network.

Jeff Hardy.
The swag, the chaotic moveset, the wacky dance moves. For whatever reason, something about him just clicked with me.

The MF'n Texas Rattlesnake. I idolized him as a kid, and even today completely out of kayfabe he's a really cool and entertaining guy
Also, Bret Hart made me really appreciate the art of realism in wrestling. When I found out it was kayfabed, I looked back and saw how much work goes into making it look real, and Bret was absolutely amazing at it.

The Von Erichs for sure. Loved Hogan, The Rock & Roll Express and a few others, but my first true emotional involvement in a wrestling storyline was Kevin vs Chris Adams, and one of the best payoffs ever watching Adams & Hernandez lose their hair.
