But not Laurence Fishburne?
You know, the one of the three of them who lived in Revolutions?

No Lilly Wachowski and no Laurence Fishburne.
You wanna go with a younger Morpheus? Okay, well that’s a narrative choice and we’ll see how that goes, but the fact that Lana is doing this without her sister seems kinda odd.
I wonder if Lilly decided that they had gone to the well here enough and she just wasn’t interested anymore.

I feel like this is going to be yet another sequel that comes and drops with a thud. I feel like Reloaded pretty much killed the interest in the franchise given Revolutions flopped and there really hasn't been some great demand for more of it in the years since despite constant rumors of it.

As I said before, I wouldn't mind someone taking another shot at a Matrix sequel, just not the Wachowskis. They had their chance and they blew it, and this universe really needs a fresh set of eyes on it.

So retconning the two sequels I see or atleast the last movie...good With the talk of a young Morpheus, it wouldn't surprise me if it ends up being a third sequel, set further into the future with the roles reversed. Deep into the next cycle of the Matrix, the fragile peace between man and machine has long since fallen apart, and the latest iteration of the One needs to find and recruit the new Morpheus.

In the Online RPG, which was canon at the time, Morpheus became a fanatic and ultimately died

Wonder what music they will use for it? The stuff they used back then felt very late 90s.

Not to be overly negative, but if you're going to do it, getting a good deal of the band back together just seems like it's going to feel like a relic of a time past, when it's supposed to be a look ahead to a future.

i will say.... I had no interest in The Matrix when it came out. I went to see it in the theater with friends because I had nothing better to do. I f'ing loved it!

To me, the first matrix is it's own stand alone thing. Despite being the best one. It just feels way different when watching it compare to the other ones.
And I hope Hugo Weaving returns for this new one

You know, over time I've wanted another Matrix movie but not from the Wachowskis whatsoever. Revolutions had such a lackluster ending that resolved nothing that it would be easy to just have the machines declare war on mankind again because Zion truly has gotten too big. Just get a new One and there you go. But why are Reeves and Moss back for this when Neo and Trinity both suffered from a slight case of death?
The Matrix Reloaded was certainly a memorable theater experience and was a rare time when a bunch of my friends and me all got together to see something. After the movie we went to Ponderosa to eat and spent a solid hour crapping all over the Architect scene. I can deal with a mindless action flick, but I have to get the knives out for something that thinks it is so profound and brilliant but in reality is completely idiotic.

I'm not afraid to admit I've liked some of what the Wachowskis have done to varying degrees. I like The Matrix, V For Vendetta, Speed Racer and Cloud Atlas, though I would never say any of them are masterpieces or particularly high art. I think Speed Racer is likely the best one because it drops a lot of the baggage the Wachowskis tend to have as directors and writers, and it's just a fun movie having a good time (as opposed to the lofty ideas that they tend to try to put into their movies that usually come across as vaguely half baked).
Reloaded is okay, Revolutions has a few bright spots in it (namely Hugo) but that's about it. I'd say the biggest issue with the Matrix sequels is something I noticed after rewatching the trilogy with a friend that had never seen them, the sequels don't really feel like sequels to The Matrix movie.
I mean, they are. Obviously.
But a lot of the ideas of the first one are veered away from and the movies feel like they take the story in a completely different direction and tone than the first one. It feels like it isn't the same people making the sequels that made the first one.
I'm not sure how much of that is possibly them not having ideas for the sequels when they made the first or those ideas maybe changing as they went through the creative process. But if you look at The Matrix and then The Matrix Revolution you kind of scratch your head and wonder how these two movies are the same universe outside of some very basic similarities.
The best thing to come out of that story besides the first movie was The Animatrix, which always gave me the opinion (that the sequels only strengthened) that if there were to be another Matrix entry I'd like someone else to tackle it than the siblings. Maybe have them on as producers or in a creative adviser role, but no real control over the vision of what someone else could do with the property.
Matrix 4 made by the Wachowskis, starring the old gang doesn't really interest me a whole lot. I'm trying to keep an open mind though, because I'll say this for the Wachowskis, they're one of the few directors in Hollywood that feel like their stuff is unique (like Quentin Tarantino and Christopher Nolan, and Edgar Wright and a handful of others). It isn't always good, but in the endless supplying machine that is Hollywood that churns out movie after movie that feels the same, the Wachowskis' productions still feel like when any director could have a greater say and hold on the vision of the movie. So who knows, they may surprise me and after I see a trailer I'll be in.

I’m pretty excited and not worried too much about this. Just because Keanu and Carrie have signed on doesn’t mean they’re going to be the lead story. I’m assuming more than just a cameo, but not the lead.
I love all three movie as a whole and can’t wait to see what the next instalment has in store.

I'm assuming they could do some rigmarole to explain how Neo is back, something about the machines kept him in cold storage until the time was right, etc. But I have no idea how Trinity could be back. She isn't even mostly dead, just all dead.
I'm serious, I remember the theater just dying during that Architect scene. The air just went out of the room. Once he mentioned the bit about 99% of the people gladly accepting the programming while the residents of Zion are that oddball group that could not, I knew the series was toast. It meant that the desired outcome of defeating the machines and destroying the Matrix simply wasn't going to happen.
