And I know it’s a bit of a blanket statement but any character who survived the first film, only to be killed off with little fanfare right at the beginning of the sequel. Newt in Alien 3 for example, Ridley risks everything (and including her teammates) to get her out of the nest, then she’s (along with Hicks) killed off by an alien that somehow got onboard their ship.

When Pine Hollow stables caught fire at the end of the Saddle Club spinoff book series. Those bastards burnt down my childhood.

Only time it ever pisses me off is when they kill the one interesting character in an ensemble of boring ones. The Flash does this with Tom Cavanaugh a LOT.

Danganronpa V3 {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Kaede, you were just too good to give me just a taste of you as the protagonist, only to cruelly rip it away from me and then give her a traumatizing execution and then a sad farewell scene as a force ghost. The game gets a lot heavier and mindf***ier, but nothing else got to me quite like Kaede being usurped as protagonist and her ensuing death and farewell scene. AND SHE WASN'T EVEN THE f***ING CULPRIT AT THE END!

Fred and Wesley, Angel. Hank and Gomie, Breaking Bad. Anya, Buffy. Harvey Dent, The Dark Knight. Penny, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. Seymour, Futurama. Lady, Game of Thrones. Beverly Katz, Hannibal. Sam, I Am Legend. Artax, The Neverending Story. Shepard and Wash, Serenity. Ed, Shaun of the Dead. Maude, Simpsons. Dan Turpin, Superman The Animated Series.
I'm sure there were others, but those ones immediately jumped out at me. Not to say they were even poorly done (in some of the cases), but they effectively got the reaction out of me they wanted.

I can partially forgive Newt, given Carrie Henn was not only not a little girl any more by the time Alien 3 went into production but had also chosen not to continue acting. No excuse to kill off Hicks, though, that was some bullshit and I'm glad Michael Biehn made Fox pay through the nose for the use of his likeness in the third movie. While I'm on the subject of Alien 3, anybody checked out the audio production of the original script for William Gibson's original version of the script?

Martin Stein in Legends of Tomorrow. This one pissed me off because it felt so cruel. He finds out he's a grandfather and wants to retire so he can finally be there for his family and be in his grandchild's life. They come up with a way to break the link between he and Jax and instead of just letting him have a happy ending, they have him get shot and then force Jax to take the cure which is what ends up actually killing Stein. They had a good send off all ready for the character and instead they decide to kill him off instead.

Dr. Romano in ER, had a helicopter fall on him (this was a couple of years after a helicopter cut his arm off), I get the character could be a jerk but he had his good points
Lancelot in the second Kingsman (deserved better)
Abby in Dawson's Creek (was one of the more enjoyable characters on the show)
Meg Manning in Veronica Mars

Never was much of a M.A.S.H. fan but killing Henry Blake on the way home, WTF?

Lancelot in the second Kingsman (deserved better) She's still alive. They made a point of showing her jumping off the bed, and running out of the room. She's still alive, she got to a safe room or escape pod or something. Roxy lives!

Kareem Said in Oz, what a really shitty way to kill off a great character.

I'd have had him commit suicide. It would have been cold, but it would have made sense given that his career as a surgeon was over and his ego simply wouldn't have been able to cope.

I didn't notice that but hope so, even if they don't make a third one and I guess if Harry survived the first movie, anyone can

Ooh, good call on some of the deaths in the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Those sequels were already flawed as hell to begin with, but then some of those deaths just seem to...happen. That's probably when a character death is at its worst, when it just feels like something done to get a quick reaction from the audience rather than fulfilling some kind of real narrative or character purpose. I was genuinely furious with Robb Stark dying in the books. Ugh, yeah; I was reading those books a little while before the show started, and was kind of in a bad place mentally, as my dog was in the process of developing the cancer that would eventually be the end of him. Getting all the way into book three and having the one side everybody could agree we wanted to see "win" get stamped out, including the death of Grey Wind, just made me frustrated as hell...for reference, my dog kind of resembled a wolf, so yeah. That probably led to me taking a bit too much joy in Joffrey's death scene a few chapters later, though.

EVERYTHING IS COMING UP ROSES BUT YOU WILL BE PUSHING UP THE DAISIES you can see it most times a mile away not an annoyed but a quite surprised ..... nichelsons joker in batman89 ..... honestly thought he'd survive and go on to bother bats again, but what sticks with me most is his face as he falls! but fav character deaths are of course jarring, but they present a different character dynamic and you wonder how they'll cope from now on

None. I enjoy fiction, but don't get emotionally attached to it to the degree that a death would piss me off.

As the World Turn's Reid. The show had been canceled at this point, he was in a happy relationship and then ten days before the finale, they killed him off, so the show ended with his significant other mourning. I was sooooo angry. This still bothers me. Reid and Luke were so good for each other.

Lancelot in the second Kingsman (deserved better) I didn’t like how they handled Merlin. Spends a lot of his screen time wishing to be a field agent, just before his death scene he’s shown selecting a huge knife for the fight to prime the audience up, then he’s killed by a mine.

Spends a lot of his screen time wishing to be a field agent, just before his death scene he’s shown selecting a huge knife for the fight to prime the audience up, then he’s killed by a mine. I didn't mind that after thinking about it, because of the line "Our journey together began many years ago, when your father did the same thing for us." Everything Merlin and Harry had done from the moment Eggsy decided to join Kingsmen, had been all about repaying Eggsy's father. They were alive because Eggsy's father sacrificed himself, they repaid him by guiding Eggsy to becoming a Kingsman, help him through training, encourage him, believe in him, and be great friends for him. Neither one forgot about Eggsy's father, and never stopped wanting to honor and repay him.

Alien 3 felt like a giant middle finger. A Preteen Girl, injured Marine, half functional android and an infected heroine crash land on a shit-hole prison planet and need to survive the locals AND the monsters that came along. That's a great setup!
But screw that. Let's butcher it!
