Should she beat Asuka? Once she does she really has beaten everyone She honestly needs to lose to her. Asuka's TLC win was usurped by Ronda. Asuka's Becky win last year was usurped by Becky winning the Rumble. Asuka lost to Charlotte at WM. Asuka and Kairi's win a few days ago was usurped by Corbin and Reigns. Now she's facing Becky again. Asuka needs to have a moment and let it end at that. Becky needs to really take the L here and move on. Like, give Asuka something. Becky can take the loss given she's the champion and given she doesn't really take Ls since she became THE Becky we see today.

Becky losing is just a better story
You can then use that story to build her adversity , really layer her character by giving her a reason to get better and do something like.
She loses to Asuka She really doubts herself for the majority of the next year , losing pivotal matches etc Then she begins to win and slowly but surely her cofidence returns The draft rolls around she gets drafted to SD just as she is ready to challenge Asuka She then wins the SD womens title and then challenges Asuka at SVS next year and finally overcomes that hurdle
If she wins this match coming up with Asuka there will be nothing left for her...except to redundently go back to a feud with Charlotte.

I am cool with either one of them winning the title I am a fan of both. But if I were a betting man I am going to say Becky wins this because they probably already have a plan in place for her at mania. And I am guessing we will find out her next challenger at the rumble which is maybe going to be shayna or a surprise return of rowdy Ronda
But a better story is asuka defeats becky with either the help of a kairi distraction or mist or both. This leads to becky losing confidence in herself and no longer believing in her abilities. Then when she's reminiscing at an old, abandoned gym she frequents she is suddenly met by a wandering charlotte who tells her you've lost that spark, you're eye of the tiger. And only charlotte can help her after all she knows how to beat asuka and when it's done she will owe her a favor
We then cut to vignettes of them training togetherbut becky still unmotivated and haggard throughout. Also doesn't help that asuka is on tv bragging and proclaiming the man is no challenge. Eventually she is collecting her thoughts on a beach when seth comes out and reassures her that he believes she can do it then they hug it out. This leads to vignettes of charlotte and her training together again but now motivated and with fire in her belly. Finally ending with the two running down a beach in bikinis in slow mo with becky beating her and then they run into the ocean jumping and smiling and hugging still in slow mo
Then the big rematch happens at mania. Becky comes out wearing flair's retirement robe. She even emmulates charlotte's moveset in the beginning before eventually changing up to a style that purposely uses up asuka's energy and beats her by avoiding the mist. Big celebration and then we find out on the raw next that charlotte's favor is a title match with her. End on a freeze frame and slap to be continued on the bottom corner.
Boom. Pay me my 500k I accept cheques

Actually we never find out the result to that match until many years later when becky is old and retired. She owns a restaurant now. And one day charlotte's illegitimate daughter shows up and looks at a photo of becky and charlotte from back in the day and asks didn't you have one match after mania. And asks who won. And becky answers charlotte did, she was the best. Then they go off on their own wacky adventures

I'd rather Kairi beat her. I've always loved Kairi.

I'd rather Kairi beat her. I've always loved Kairi. Maybe Becky loses to Asuka again. Next thing you know Kairi returns and eventually faces her partner Asuka and beats her, someone who Becky could never beat. That would then set up the Kairi/Becky match where Kairi takes over.

Or Kairi “accidentally” costs Asuka the match leading to a WrestleMania match between the tag champs. Kairi can then claim that she’s the real mother of Asuka’s child and they can have a custody ladder match at SummerSlam. ... what?

I'm hoping Asuka beats her. I'm still a Becky fan though I will fully admit her booking has been atrocious and she should have lost the belt to Sasha. I actually really liked that interview (just watched it). It may be an attempt to hit the reset button on the character but I appreciate that she's finally acknowledging that she is the golden girl and what that means for her. I appreciate that she gave big props to Asuka. Yeah she's got a long way to go but this is a fantastic start if they stick with it. This is a Becky I could see losing gracefully and giving Asuka the props she deserves. Hell I could even see her saying, I will be back for you some day but enjoy it while you have it, you deserve it or something like that. If they hold this direction with Becky it could be as one legendary star might put it "a good thing".

Honestly I know it won't happen because that is not how WWE rolls. But I want Asuka to be the one Becky can't beat.

No point in creating a new thread since we have this
Simple question, has Becky Lynch had a good reign?

One aside to this discussion is that it’s fascinating observing the way her more hardcore fans write on places like Reddit, where their argument is that despite everything since May 2018 she still hasn’t been given enough and that one clean loss in the last sixteen months (where she won the Rumble the same night) isn’t protected enough. She (and WWE) definitely did a good job of targeting that demographic.

Besides Sasha, and now Asuka, she's has shit challengers for most of her reign. A bunch of Lacey Evans and Natalya, no one could get that over. Really exposes how thin the two divisions are separately.

Really exposes how thin the two divisions are separately. Pretty much this. The second Ronda left, WWE stopped pretending to care about the women and it showed in Becky's reign. No one could make a five month feud with Lacey Evans compelling. Let alone a match with Natalya with almost zero build. It's a shame too because it genuinely could have been fantastic.

With Rousey gone and you can't just do Charlotte all the time, it has shown how thin it is, yeah.
Part of the problem being that you can't really have Becky lose yet. So there's a foregone conclusion element to some of the matches which hurt them. The Sasha feud was good, but the rest has been humdrum or disappointing.
And it has been said, when so much of your character is based around fighting against Them for the chance to be the best, when you clearly are at the top of the tree for so long and getting plenty of shine, it's less satisfying.
This Asuka feud has been good, both in addressing the (somewhat unintentionally at times, I feel) way Asuka has defeated her before and letting Becky be on the back foot more. I'd actually have Asuka beat her at the Rumble and build up for a big Rocky-Clubber style rematch at Mania.

She’s done as well as she can given how many circumstances there are that are out of her control. It’s not on Lynch that injuries have ravaged her pool of potential opponents (Nia Jax, Ruby Riott), or that her first post-WM opponent was a rookie that had spent the last three months modelling 1940s fashions instead of wrestling matches, or that the draft left her division so lacking in numbers that they put her IN the tag division first before they brought other talents out of it to challenge her, or that it’s nigh impossible to play an “against the system underdog”, when the system has placed you so far above everyone else, without looking like a willfully ignorant idiot with a victim complex.

Becky's reign can be best described, for the most part, as "Someone trying to make chicken salad out of the chicken shit that the creative team have given her."
