She was 2019's biggest rating mover according to Bryan Alvarez,so there is that for her year-long reign.Probably could have moved better if there was interesting stories,Asuka is pretty much the first interesting one of the title reign.
Usually if you are heavily pushed and don't suck anyway you are gonna be the biggest mover. But still says a lot she moves above guys like Rollins,Lesnar and Reigns(Or maybe says more about how they are underwhelming as main draws, you choose)

No point in creating a new thread since we have this Simple question, has Becky Lynch had a good reign? No, though as many people have pointed out it's through no fault of her own. Rousey really needed to stay around to chase the belt, but if that just wasn't possible at all, the fued out of Wrestlemania should have been Charlotte saying you didn't beat me, you beat Ronda and now I'm going to beat you. I honestly can't remember what happened after wrestlemania except for a few months of Lacey Evans. Did she drop a belt to Charlotte? Did it matter? It sure doesnt feel like it did because I can't answer that question without googling it.

No point in creating a new thread since we have this Simple question, has Becky Lynch had a good reign? Nope, it's a bad reign. Nobody's elevated post-Becky feud compared to where they were before the feud happened. It's like a speed bump. You're on one level and sure, you go on that bump and it's only for a quarter of the second but the moment it's over you're back on the regular path. That's what Becky feuds are. Women get elevated in the middle of the feud because they're facing her and afterwards it's like "well did she even feud with them?" which makes the feud pointless. It's just not good content.

Say what you will about green Lacey Evans but I think she looks better now in what is basically a throwaway feud against Bayley then she did in over 3 months vs Becky The biggest crutch against this reign is padding. She did not need a year with the title but that is what she is going to get

The biggest problem with Punks year long reign is that he wasn't "The Guy" for the first half of it but in saying that he had feuds with ADR, Jericho and Bryan before the heel turn where he feuded with Cena, Ryback and Rock so it wasn't bad it is just that shit was still looking bad when Cena is main eventing I'd say AJ Styles year long title reign has been better then Beckys.

Yeh the issue with Punk's Reign was a different one.
And the main issue of the AJ title run was that he kept beating the same guys 4 times in a row,it made then look like complete chumps but the storylines were better(plus the opponent quality).Becky was just champion for this long because she is the top woman, there was literally no other reason,no story, no push to anyone.

Yeah I gotta agree that for as much as I didn't like AJ's reign, it was just way better than Becky's current one. The Nakamura feud, the Joe feud, that small Rusev feud, the Lesnar Surivor Series match, you then had those matches against Owens, Zayn and even Jinder looked his best in this feud. In retrospect I didn't like AJ's reign but I'd give it an "ok" if not a "good" rating. I said it was trash but nah, I'll give it a better rating than that now. It wasn't bad because of not only his body of work but also the fact that everybody AJ faced you felt they could reasonable win.
There wasn't one AJ match that I thought that he was absolutely going to beat the breaks off his opponent. I knew he'd make them look good and I knew that if he won it would be a smart win rather than a dominating one which means the world when we look at how losses happe. With Becky that's really all I think. I don't even know how she's losing that belt.

The problem with AJ's feud and this is a problem that just comes along with AJ styles...his matches have a very specific formula and it was at argueably its worst during his reign the stand out match was with Brock and that was just because Brock just put AJ in a different position as a true underdog.
Becky has a similar issue but is not that the matches are the same...it is that every single feud she has had is the exact same formula....she talks about slapping heads and how she has to collect debts....she gets knocked down once or twice during the feud and then wins the feud decisively and moves onto the next challenger.

She had to beat Charlotte at Fastlane just to to get into the Mania match Fair enough, then the clear issue is she had no one to feud with, which I guess is why Lacey showed up as her feud. Asuka was the only person who could have gone against her, but she was coming off her pointless title loss to Charlotte so having her lose to Becky for a few months afterwards wouldn't have been great. Maybe it was the time for the Bayley heel turn, but she needed real opponents and didnt get them. The Sasha feud should have been great, but it wasn't and I guess she's on Smackdown now. Alexa with Nikki to try and help her might have been something, but it was Lacey for 3 months right?

They had Becky have matches vs Lacey and Charlotte at MITB. Lacey interfered in the second match to help Charlotte win, then Bayley cashed in on an unconscious Charlotte a few minutes later. So it was basically an elaborate way of getting the SDL belt on Bayley while keeping Becky super-protected.

Its also been the case that women feuding with Becky get disappeared off TV for weeks afterwards most of the time. Lacey went to doing matches on Main Event, Charlotte lost a #1 qualifier on SDL then disappeared off TV for several weeks (this was when Bayley feuded with Alexa/Nikki and won a handicap match clean at Extreme Rules), Sasha was injured in the HIAC match and missed several weeks. No one gets any momentum from feuding with Becky because they don't get a chance to get momentum. Its also made harder because of her 'everything's a work so I'll only put myself over' style in interviews and her incredibly protected booking. (She's had two clean losses since May 2018 and got her heat back both times. The gratuitous Hogan-must-pose moment at Survivor Series fit the pattern.) So far they're doing a bit better with the Asuka feud though there's every chance Asuka disappears after losing clean at the Rumble too.

One of the biggest reasons this reason has been bad is partly that the WWE did not build up a single challenger until Sasha. She feuded with Lacey for something like 5 months (I see people saying 3, maybe it was 3 and felt like 5) and in that time, not once did any other woman get built in any way. Yes there were unfortunate injuries but they still had people who could have at least made decent challengers. Hell she had Alexa and Nikki right there but for some reason those two were on Smackdown (despite being Raw stars) to fight Bayley. Now at the time Bayley overcoming Alexa was good (though her beating Nikki and Alexa solo wasn't) but why did neither of them go after Becky?
They literally had Becky feud with someone whose entire main roster resume had been that she participated in the Royal Rumble and walked up and down the aisle a bunch of times. Why would no other woman on the roster see that and say, yep I'm going after her. Hell they could have done a short program with Naomi or even freaking Dana Brooke given her perpetual underdog status. The entire feud with Natalya started with her winning a fatal four way after being where? They suddenly remembered other women existed for that match and figured it was enough of a build for someone to face their top star.
I've said it before but this would be like if Stone Cold at the height of his success was put into a 4 month feud with some rando who'd never wrestled an actual match. Even Austen couldn't turn that into chicken salad (not saying Becky is Austen, just pointing out the impossible situation).

The way some of you guys are talking about this, I'm getting the type of vibes I got seeing bits of Bryan's post-WM 30 reign, before it was unfortunately cut short; I don't think WWE really knows how to capitalize on a wrestler's character in order to book a different type of title reign.
Bryan and Becky both won their big moments by coming across as unappreciated underdogs that management was overlooking despite the fans wanting them to be on top. That means they both had the characteristic of having that chip on their shoulder, that "oh, you think I'm not good enough? I'll prove how wrong you are" motivation. Their feuds after winning the belts, though, just seemed like filler, with no real emphasis on the character traits that got them both to the top in the first place.
I'll do the annoying thing again and bring up NJPW, but some people were wondering why they booked Wrestle Kingdom to end this year with new champion Tetsuya Naito getting attacked by KENTA, rather than allowing Naito his big moment in the sun after winning the gold. The answer seems clear: Naito's character got as popular as it did because it was based around Naito having grievances against so many different groups or entities (at first the fans, but also the promotion, Tanahashi, Okada, and even the IWGP Intercontinental title), that if you gave him the storybook ending then his story would be finished...and in pro wrestling you can't really finish a story for someone until they're ready to retire, you always have to be thinking "what's next"?
So, instead of getting the big champion's promo time that usually ends a WK main event, Naito got blindsided and beaten up by his first title challenger, who is now hated by all for depriving Naito and the fans of the big moment they'd been waiting years for, to chant along with Naito's catchphrase after the biggest show of them all. Naito gets to keep a chip on his shoulder, so his character enters its first title defense still retaining what made it so popular in the first place. Naito likely isn't meant to be champion for a super long time, that's not how his character is designed, but while he IS champion you need him to be the guy the fans gravitated to in order to keep him over and keep him selling tickets for you, and you can't do that by giving him the 100% completion happy ending and then just giving him a random title defense; you give those types of defenses to "final boss" champions, like Kazuchika Okada in NJPW, or how John Cena was in WWE (or I guess Lesnar now).
Throwing a green Lacey Evans at Becky, or putting Bryan in a heatless feud with Kane after WM 30? Those weren't done with any consideration for what made each character so popular at the time. Had Bryan stayed healthy he would have had an unremarkable run that would have ended with Lesnar killing him at SummerSlam, and Becky's has seemingly only recently gotten interesting because the belt's been on her long enough that they've finally found a story/character/in-ring chemistry combination that brings out the side of her character that worked in the first place, by pairing her again with Asuka. Nice to see they've figured that out for now, but it stinks to see people feel they didn't do enough before to give her reign more life and character.

Nice to see they've figured that out for now, but it stinks to see people feel they didn't do enough before to give her reign more life and character. One of the biggest reasons that the Asuka feud is resonating is that Becky has not actually beaten her yet. She's beaten everybody but Asuka. The other thing is the parallels. Asuka is this wrestler who's always had supporters but has never been the face, even when she had the belt. Hell last year she beat Becky clean and that was followed up with going off screen for weeks. Even there you can see parallels with Becky's initial story of being held down for the golden girl only in this case the golden girl is Becky rather than Charlotte. Its an intriguing story and they finally have Becky acknowledging the challenge in front of her. She's finally acknowledged that she is the man even in corporate's eyes and as such her beef with the higher ups has transformed from you're holding me down to I don't need you holding me up. Her story has been that they don't want her facing Asuka because they might lose their golden goose.
Sadly, she is probably going to beat Asuka at Royal Rumble but the smart move would be for Asuka to beat Becky, become Asuka two-belts and just continue being the dastardly heel she's been. It gives Becky that bump in the road that we wanted with Sasha, it gives them both a reason to feud heading into WM that's stronger than someone blindsiding her after a match. As much as people are saying it'll probably be Ronda or Shayna, the hotter match could well be vs Asuka if they play this right.
