I have spyware and viruses on my computer thanks to my computer illiterate brother for clicking some pop up ad. I had a way more thorough post, while I was making this thread earlier, but that freaking virus turned off my internet just as I finished typing...
Can anyone please help me get rid of them? (Ending my shortened message now, because my internet will turn off very soon. Hate this virus!)
Edit: Looks like I have an estimated time of 10 seconds to 2 minutes online so I can't make longer posts..

More info for possible help while I can. I've already used Norton Anti-Virus and Ad-Aware to scan my computer dozens of time, it helped some, but a few of the problems remain. Some problems include: - Internet turning off every few minutes.
- My desktop changed black with a "Your Computer is in Danger!1!!" message.
- I cannot change my desktop wall paper at all.
- My computer is extremely slow.
- Having trouble logging onto the board or any area that needs a password.
Can any of you more computer educated fellows help a guy out please?

I always format and reinstall if it gets to that state. This is good for clearing junk from the drive that might slow the comp down: www.diskcleaner.nl/support.php

according to my research, you might have a virus called SpySheriff I recommend installing and running Spybot go here www.spybot.info/en/mirrors/index.htmldownload it, see if it catches it.

Can any of you more computer educated fellows help a guy out please? Sir, did you go to "Safe Mode"? When you restart your computer, press F8 as many times as you can. It should go to a menu asking you to what version of the operating system you would like to use. "Safe" is an option (or it is called "Diagnostic"), go there, and use your anti-viri then. Don't forget, your computer uses the BARE minimum while using safe, so don't plan to have fun.

Thanks Eeriebagel and Bad Booking and boiledewok, I saw a file named SpySheriff and Brave Sentry (a alternate name for the malware) so I'm sure you're right. I'll try out you methods, and get back to you all as soon as I can.

After having fits with Norton and McAfee a computer guy at work recommended Avast. I've had no problems since then. It's free, you can download it online avast dot com and it offers free virus cleaner as well from the website.
Trend Micro offers free housecall which does a heck of a good job cleaning up stuff too.

UPDATE:
I've added Spybot search and destroy + put it into safemode, and got rid of many of the spyware and viruses that I didn't see before, however there is this one spyware that keeps on coming back no matter how many times spybot gets rid of it.
It's called Torpig. It turns off my internet over and over again, which is extremely annoying. I got my wall paper background back to normal, but I still can't change the desktop wall paper unless I take an image straight from the internet and use that for wall paper. Also, I cannot turn on any word processing programs, like microsoft works, or word.
Can anyone help me look into this since I cannot? I repeat the spyware is called: Torpig.

see if this helps: forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=11991whatever you do, get it done quick and do NOT do anything online involving credit card numbers, passwords, etc that you don't have to. Reading up on it, Torpig's a trojan designed to record keystrokes.
