The Rock. No seriously. Today, he is known for his charisma and mic skills. But, if you go back and watch some of his early promos as Rocky Maivia, you would be surprised how much he grew as a performer and how quickly. 23 years ago, if you had said that he would be the biggest star in Hollywood, you would have been committed to a mental institution.

House of Pain Mark Henry elevated his entire game Mark Henry murking dudes then screaming gibberish at them was gold. But his greatest promo is still his retirement speech.

Would I be wrong in saying Becky Lynch? She always seemed to be written off as a strong promo because for a long time she didn't cut that many of them (leading to the newz story that she wasn't doing promos because Kevin Dunn hated her accent), but then it seemed like overnight she was really, REALLY good at them. I still like her, but some of Becky's promos this year have made people not want to hear her talk anymore due to coming off unlikeable, though a heel turn later on could probably fix that.

I don’t think another heel turn would work, she’s still way too over for it and there’s no babyfaces right now that she could turn heel on that are as over that crowds would cheer for instead of Lynch.

How about Eddie? He didn’t really show his charisma until the Chyna angle I don’t think

Still the promo I go back to, to remind myself that No Way Jose has talent. He brought great intensity to this feud

Regal has always been a very good promo guy but never really got a chance to show it too much in the WWF/E, so that promo he cut on Triple H about Eugene came a bit out of nowhere. He's always been a good charachter capable of fun promos but the few times he broke out of the cartoony role and put some real emotion in it really stood out. His promo before his last match with Cesaro should be used to teach new wrestlers.

He brought great intensity to this feud I saw some of Jose's indie stuff as an irate immigrant cutting promos on random people at a funfair. It was great. I was unsurprised that Jose could do this, but very surprised that WWE let him. Of course, they never let him show this level of range again even in NXT.

Yea, I remember when people posted that a few years ago when talking about No Way Jose after this and i'm like damn I would have never known One of the rare misses by HHH. No Way Jose brought it and should have been given more chances like this. I remember being at that NXT Takeover Live and the crowd loved him. I actually still got the video in my phone

I feel like Mojo Rawley's a much better promo than he should be. And I didn't think Charlotte would end up becoming as good of a promo as she is now after her rough start on the main roster.

Neville's run as King of the Cruiserweights Oh yeah, definitely him. It wasn't even gradual either. He just turned heel and started cutting some of the best promos in the company seemingly overnight.

Neville's run as King of the Cruiserweights I can't believe I forgot about him. He was doing the best character work of anyone in the whole company.

There was a guy who once said " I kicked your leg out of your leg". He would go on to become one of my favorite promos.

Miz.
When he started out as the host of Smackdown he cut one of the worst promos ever, I didn’t thought he was gonna last now he’s a future Hall of famer.

I used to genuinely loathe Orton during his frat boy/legend killer days. I don’t remember what PPV it was, he was IC champ at the time, and he cut an incredible promo backstage on the crowd and his opponent. Wow’d me. Moreless this has been Ortons M.O in terms of both his ring work and mic work: coast along but every now and then killing it out of nowhere. He was IC champ at Bad Blood 2004, I remember him ripping the crowd and making fun of Shelton Benjamin. Then he slipped on the ropes when he went up for his signature pose.

One I’m surprised hasn’t been mentioned yet is the promo Big Cass cut on Enzo when he turned on him. I never would have guessed that he had that promo in him
