I do not understand this hashtag. I am always amused by NXT trying to hype itself as this underground thing and rebellious but...it isn't. It absolutely isn't. It's always rubbed me the wrong way. I guess the main reason it doesn't bother me so much is because at least it's making an effort to NOT antagonize the fanbase, unlike the main-roster shows.

Sure and I can respect that for the most part but to me it sometimes comes off as the Steve Buschemi “How do you do, fellow kids?” meme of wrestling promotions.

So, WALTER... was that a one off appearance or did he change his mind about not wanting to leave Europe? Every once in a while I assume Seems like HHH is going to use all the assets he can between UK, NXT and 205 Live This sounds like the best approach. Considering that the basic NXT roster can't really fill up two whole hours give a few matches/segments per week to hype up the UK and 205 stars. RAW/SDL stars should only be used on very rare occasions.

BEcause they want to bring the people that don't like main roster WWE. They are the cool new generation or whatever. No, I absolutely understand why but it'd be like if Fox Searchlight called itself a rebellious film studio and different from those children's films when the company that owns them literally makes those kids films. It's disingenuous and tryhard. They just could sell thenselves as the "better" side of WWE or something which is not wrong

Agreed but the thing is, fans buy it. I don’t know why, but they do. AEW has a tough road ahead, not because of NXT, but because it is hard to take viewers from the WWE.

I kind of wonder if HHH himself sees it that way, though. At least since the time he was begging Vince not to take Asuka away, I don't think HHH has run the show as "getting talent ready for Vince". He seems invested in NXT having its own separate identity.

It's quite clever really. They've created competition within the company that appeals to the fans who don't like the typical WWE style but it's still essentially WWE doing indys.

Yea it has always been “alternative” which he’s not wrong about. He’s the super Indy with a good bank account that can bring in vets while also train up young guys. He doesn’t train them for the main roster (which is a different discussion) he trains them to be successful for his product

Let's hope so because it needs to be as much as possible. Speaking of hhh, folks should check out the video of him in the crowd last night after the show that wwe put out. I thought that was really awesome... the amount of real love and appreciation he has for nxt and the fans is obviously totally genuine. It gave me chills when I saw it..and its cool as hell to know the man who maybe in charge one day of everything is that invested in a good product and making the fans happy.

And all of those should be good, too. I’m thinking long term it’s building to Imperium versus a group of NXT faces in WarGames. They need a new heel group to put in there since The Undisputed Era will likely be busy with Title defenses.

I am always amused by NXT trying to hype itself as this underground thing and rebellious but...it isn't. It absolutely isn't. It's always rubbed me the wrong way. Agreed but the thing is, fans buy it. I don’t know why, but they do. AEW has a tough road ahead, not because of NXT, but because it is hard to take viewers from the WWE. It depends. Honestly AEW has already a great fan base and hype, there biggest thing is just doing enough to keep the network happy and as a business being successful. I feel we are going to get more a prime years Monday Night war style where fans are going back and forth. Because a lot of wrestling fans want AEW to be successful because it good for wrestling overall and that includes the WWE. It forces WWE to be more creative. I gives wrestlers options and there is a large group of wrestling fans that understand that. People always say the "majority" is a bunch of none internet following and only watches what on TV when in this day and age, I seriously doubt that is the "majority" anymore. There are reasons why Raw and Smackdown ratings have fallen so much over the years. NXT needs to say the course they are on because fans want something different and for the WWE brand that brand is, AEW is different and that what draws the attention. Something that is away from whats been this cookie cutter style Raw and Smackdown as fallen in over the last several years. AEW I'm sure are away they have a tough road ahead and they are not going to "win" the war over night. They are still building a brand and done a hell of a job so far in doing that. Way better than TNA and others have since WCW. The fact AEW has the following and hype that they did from day one which was unlike any other wrestling company we seen. ROH, TNA, GFW and 100s of other "attempts" to be the legit alternative, none of them had the buzz AEW has which helps AEW to make that splash but still the pressure will be on them to live up to that buzz long term. All I know for sure Wednesday Nights is going to be the new wrestling night like Mondays where in the late 90s and it's going to be quality wrestling from both brands IMO. As long Vince doesn't do something crazy and changes NXT, it's all good stuff on Wednesday's.
