Normally, I would post these inductions on a Saturday, but it wasn't done last Sarurday so I might have had to delay until the second of November. However, I got it done before then and as a special pre-Halloween present, here is the induction today. Come with us as we see the 1992 film version of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and why it isn't as fondly remembered as the TV series of the same name that came after this film. monster-crap.blogspot.com/2019/10/monster-crap-inductee-buffy-vampire.html

The movie isn't as fondly remembered by most, but it is by me. I saw that movie when it first came out because my sister was in love with Luke Perry and it became a household favorite.
Like 5 years later when they made the show I was like "That'll never last, it's not even the "real" Buffy".
I was wrong apparently.

I love the film. ANd Kristy Swanson was great as Buffy. I do enjoy the show but on the show I hate Buffy. Something about how SMG plays Buffy just annoys me.

I love the movie. Tried to watch the show but it didn't have the right vibe.

I like what I've seen of the movie, the show is... more spotty. Not that I've watched a gigantic chunk of it, and admittedly most of what I have seen is seasons 4 and 6, but there's some of it I like, some of it I don't.

The Chase is a fun movie.
As for Buffy tv show,Season 1 is weak. The rest of the high school seasons are good. The two college seasons are not good. Then from after those to the end is good.

Yeah, I can never really hate on Kristy Swanson. Well, she's doing a pretty good job of getting people to not like her these days. But not only did I see this in theaters, I had the poster. And I also think The Chase is awesome. Charlie and Kristy are great. And Anthony Keidis and Flea are hilarious. Really a star studded cast for, what...1994? Haha.

Buffy the show, favorite show ever! Buffy the movie...not so much. Has good ideas in it but they could have been so much more. Damn, I want to rewatch Buffy again, though I'll probably skip season 6 as always.

I thought this film had one of the best deaths ever in it. Memory is a bit spotty though.

Those are also the only good episodes of the season. Tara's fate....bothers me immensely.

See, I get that (the whole "bury your gays" trope) but I thought it worked wonders for the story and helped push the season over the edge that it needed to fall off to be interesting. It's not my favourite season (season seven was worse as Tara's replacement was just not a convincing interest), but it got Willow to where she needed to be and finally give the dorks that had been plaguing the scoobies all season an aura of real menace. It showed that they were done just playing games.

The TV show beats the movie quite easily simply because of the inclusion of Charisma Carpenter.

All I remember of this is Joss Whedon had a major hissy fit about it and holds a grudge against Donald Sutherland to this day:
