Hasn’t Cornette got a massive collection of tape traded wrestling including Japanese stuff? It wouldn’t be a stretch to imagine the same people in japan recording and trading wrestling tapes with Americans were also trading anime footage as well.

They both wear loud suits--I think this much ado about very little. And "cosplaying" implies putting something on display and drawing attention to the character you're portraying. Even if Cornette was inspired by the character, he wasn't beating us over the head with how he was dressing up as somebody else.

Jim should move to LA, change his gimmick to a Hollywood agent, and call himself Jim Corvette. He should move to Nebraska, become a farmer, and open a produce stand called “Jim’s Courgettes “

Gonna be devil's advocate here when I say that it's not entirely often that 60 years old who have been in the business since they were teenagers are going to be 100% on board with how things have evolved since they were younger.
That said, I listen to his podcast weekly where he's been reviewing NXT vs AEW and it's really not difficult whatsoever to agree with like 90% of what he says. The guy clearly loves a certain type of wrestling product, which he's entitled to, since we all do too. He routinely praises NXT as a consistently great product and it's certainly the best brand in the world today.
Anyway. Just wanted to vent that. I know everyone here hates the guy but oh well.

Well, not everyone does. People might also like certain aspects of him but not the whole package. Even if everyone, or at least a majority, hates him, though, unless they're bullying people who don't or telling him to die, why should it impact his fans?

Real talk, it would be cool if Omega adopted a “Kenny Olivier” alterego for a few BTE episodes where he’s a highbrow actor who calls movies and plays he dislikes “mud show cinema.”

I like hearing him rant on about wrestlers he hates even if I like them. I love the nicknames and descriptions he comes up with like "Kenny Olivier". Wish he'd get rid of the bigotry and get that you can't say that sort of stuff and justify it with "well I was just targeting that one person in that one situation". Doesn't work that way. But when he's not doing that I just like hearing him. Just like I might like listening to a good heel insult wrestlers I like.

There's kind of an unsaid implication of "Only bad people would be fans of this bad person." Don't know what can be done about that if nothing is actually said. If a fan of his thinks they're being flamed or otherwise targeted because of that, then report it. Same if they feel that comments against Cornette and his fans are going too far or if there's an odd feeling in threads where Cornette gets mentioned. Don't know what else can be done.

I'm the guy who usually locks these threads and I absolutely don't hate the guy. I don't like his hateful sometimes biggoted rants... that's my only issue. I like nearly everything else about him though and I used listen to both his shows weekly before he went even more cartoony since AEW started and it's gotten him more attention. This isn't some mass Corny hatred thing. People don't like the negativity he's been spewing is all. After some member culling here recently I don't expect these threads to nosedive the way they have been anymore. So like, don't feel like you can't like the guy. Contrary to what one poster was trying to turn these into, no one wants Corny dead or whatever.

Yeh I have been vocal about why I dislike Cornette but his actions are not his fans, none of the issues started as people hating on the fans. Many people have said they enjoy the guy and nothing became of it

If said it before, and Ill say it again, if he agreed to not talk about anything more modern then 1995 I would love to spend a weekend hanging out with Cornette, drinking beer and listening to stories.
EDIT: I’ll amend that to 98 actually, I’d be interested to hear about the early days of Attitude and some Owen and Bulldog stories

If the man stuck to what he was good at or even just stopped saying bigot shit and trying to pick fights with people who aren't "in on the act", he'd be held in much higher esteem again. Maybe not as much as he was around ten years ago when he was mainly hypercritical of something people weren't happy with instead of a show people are way more excited for, but even the detractors wouldn't have any reason to talk ill of the guy.

Conrad's shows have a "nothing current" rule to avoid these trappings. If Corny would do that too I'd gladly go back to listening twice a week regularly.

Right I say NWA are cowards for giving Cornette nothing but a slap in the wrists when they say it is not okay but he is the perfect man to comment a NWA Old School show,I don't think anyone could deny that.
