So, yeah, Corny heavily implied that Justin Roberts is a child molester.

Ok, I'd personally lean towards that being "humor" than defamation. It's a disgusting thing to say, no doubt, but the "looks like" saves it from being outright slanderous.

For everyone who missed this mornings fun, Corny blocked Brian Zane on Twitter for comparing wrestling and the circus. So, that’s the end of that “friendship” or whatever it was. It's traveling entertainment. It has strong men. Acrobats. Clowns. Stunts. The comparison is absurdly apt. I mean William Regal literally started wrestling at an amusement park midway.

Still, it is a nasty thing to imply especially when you have some influence in the industry in which that person works. Heck, I'll go further and say it is despicable.

The directive of the second sentence isn't as maybe-sorta. And Defamation of Character doesn't have to necessarily prove a statement was 100% serious. If it can be shown that it affected the plaintiff in some key aspects, including loss of monetary opportunities, it can be punishable.

Yea, " I was only joking" is not really going to be a good defense is your "joke" got spread around cost this man opportunities to make money or it damaged his reputation

Assuming this was the twitter post that Corny blocked him for.
(and someone tagged Corny in the comments)
Also Zane is a bit wrong. The Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey's circus closed and that was one of the biggest... but there are other circuses still open.
I mean literally tomorrow the Big Apple Circus opens in NYC and runs until February.

Cornette's lucky that Justin Roberts is employed by the people that have the most mutual dislike for him and thus wouldn't be influenced by his comments, because it would be an easy lawsuit if Justin could show any damages from that comment.

Circuses exist, but they aren't really a "thing" anymore; the public consciousness of them has dropped drastically to the point most people aren't aware any are still even around anymore.

Zane did the SS 98 video a week or two back in which he spoke warmly about Russo's booking, it was to counter a previous video in which he'd been critical of a WCW PPV Russo had booked, kind of a balancing thing 'this guy was both good and bad at his job' deal rather than outright praise of Russo, still wouldn't be surprised it he started skating on thin ice with Cornette from that moment on.

I'd venture to say it has nothing to do with that and everything to do with the "let people enjoy clowns, old man" line. I feel safe in guess-guaranteeing that one line did it.

Zane just uploaded his Raw review and...man, you can tell he's wrecked. He's doing fine and all, but you can just see in his face how rough today has been.

I don't think I understand what happened here. So he got blocked by Cornett over his comment...did he get trolled super hard by the Cornette Action Defense Squad?

Zane was a very big fan of Cornette's, even patterning his own manager gimmick after Jim to a degree; they've worked together on a few projects and Cornette was a big supporter of Brian's.

Ah I didnt know they had any actual connection to one another. Watched that video and he's definitely got the "today was f***ed" puffy eyes going on.

Zane definitely got hit with Cornette's cult of snitch taggers, but I assume the bigger wound is being hurt by a long time idol he thought was a friend.

Zane was a very big fan of Cornette's, even patterning his own manager gimmick after Jim to a degree; they've worked together on a few projects and Cornette was a big supporter of Brian's. Most famously, Jim Cornette appeared in a video where Zane spoofed Vince Russo's booking decisions where Cornette punched Zane (who was dressed up as Russo), which often was the end of the intro clips for years. And, rather than just uploading his Survivor Series 2003 review this week, he's going to post an open-ed about the ordeal. Zane definitely got hit with Cornette's cult of snitch taggers, but I assume the bigger wound is being hurt by a long time idol he thought was a friend. Honestly, that is the bigger thing. It's one thing to be ratted out but the bumf***s of social media, and you can eventually deal with it, but when a guy you spent your career worshipping and thought was a good friend of yours decides that you're nothing but a piece of crap just because of one moment or something taken out of context, it absolutely hurts. I think this is going to last for a while, and the worst part is I have a bad feeling Cornette is going to turn around and make fun of Zane to fuel his cadre of fanatics.

Which I'm sort of bummed about because I'd like to have heard his view on Team Austin/Team Bischoff (the best SS match ever, DON'T @ ME!).

I continue to not understand everybody's need to talk about Jim Cornette. On one hand, I get that sentiment. On the other, thread isn't titled, "SIX WAYS TO WIN CASH" or something, you knew what you're clicking into. And, by the same token, I don't think he forces any of you to listen to his opinions.
