If you watched the SW prequels and this last trilogy all in a row, would it retroactively change your opinion of the original trilogy?
As in, if you knew where the Skywalker(s) story began and ultimately ended, would you like the middle part less, the same, or better?

I read The Crystal Star, twice, yet still loved the original trilogy.
In fact I have a hard time thinking of any movie that I like less because of something a sequel did.

The original trilogy looks better and better with every passing film.

Well not having watched TROS, but knowing full well what went on, I certainly realized my perceptions somewhat changed.
They’ve been playing the OT and prequels and TFA non-stop on tv so I re-watched them.
Prequels are still shit. They’re just shit and that’s not news. I do find myself pulled in at times to TPM and ROTS. There’s some fun stuff in both. AOTC has just aged the worst. It’s almost unbearable to watch.
The lack of planning and cohesion in the ST has certainly tampered my view. I can’t even be angry anymore about it, just disappointment. Re-watching TFA, I still enjoy it a f*** ton. It’s fun. There’s a lot I still like about TFA despite perceived flaws and how pointless it seems due to the mishandling of the trilogy. In a weird way, I’m already nostalgic towards it and can remember how excited I was. I’ve actually only ever seen TLJ once, so I owe it a second watch (and sober) once it gets on Disney+. Dunno when or if I’ll watch TROS. Probably when it gets on Disney+ too.
As for the OT, man, I’ve truly fallen back in love with them. Yeah, they’re all space-wizard fantasies but there’s just so much more to hold onto. Luke’s journey. Alec Guinness. Harrison f***ing Ford. The chemistry between him and Carrie that’s just palpable (for obvious reasons). Vader. Just Vader/JEJ throughout it. Yoda and that initial shock of realizing the force was portrayed as something inclined to more than just warriors. Looking at it contained again has made me appreciate all the little things that honestly originally lured me in as a kid in the 90s.
I think the prequels sorta made me devalue them to an extent, not because they were good, they were shit (never gets old saying it haha) but because they threw SO much at you. Effects. And lightsabers, and so much sensation. Same can be said for the ST (and I hear especially from TROS). Ignoring all that and just focusing on those original three again makes me value them more than I have since I first watched them. It’s reminded me why I fell in love with them in the first place.

The original trilogy is still the best and the sequel trilogy could've been three movies worth of senile Luke Skywalker taking a dump in the forest and it wouldn't lessen my opinion of it any.

It’s a fun movie that manages to keep in spirit of the Star Wars aesthetic, while still being something radically different. Reminded me of one of those games where you’re a non-Jedi hero having to fight the Empire.

Introduced some interesting political wrinkles to the conflict presented by the original films, and had at least one of the most spectacular sequences in the entire franchise when Ben Mendehlson hits the planet with the “warning shot” from the Death Star. Would that all the films were like this.

Rather comfortable with just watching the OT + Rogue One as my main “Star Wars experience” from now until the end of time.

Really, I can find at least something to enjoy about eight of the nine main films outside of Attack of the Clones which is just totally boring and forgettable. Rogue One/Solo weren’t bad either.

The end of ROTJ is lessened for me now. It just doesn’t come off as the ultimate victory for me like it used to knowing what’s going to happen later.

The old EU books all had wildly varying quality and they never changed my opinion about the OT because they were something else entirely. Same with the sequel trilogy. In my head it is basically bad fan fiction that happens to be official.

I guess I’ll be the first one to vote that I think less of the OT now.
I no longer want Han and Leia to get together, because I know they’ll give birth to an emo monstrosity who will undo all their hard work.
I no longer am moved when Vader throws Palpatine down the reactor shaft and saved his son’s life, because I know Palpatine will just pop back up alive 30 years later.
I no longer get teary at what used to be my favorite scene in the whole saga, Anakin dying in Luke’s arms, because now I’m wondering why Luke didn’t just Force heal him.
I no longer care about ESB ending with Luke failing and learning harsh lessons, because I know that he’ll forget them all later. That thing about “always in motion is the future,” for example, will be forgotten, and Luke will raise his blade to his nephew in the future because he saw some darkness.
I no longer care about Luke’s journey to learn the ways of the Jedi, because since Rey just downloaded how to be a Super Jedi instantly, he looks like a putz in comparison.
I no longer care about the celebration at the end of ROTJ, because I know this’ll all be a waste of time until Rey eventually graces the galaxy with her presence and brings about this same result, except FOR REAL this time.
Basically, Rian Johnson got exactly what he wanted: I have put away my childish things, stopped idolizing the past, and moved on with my life. The fact that this means I will no longer be giving Disney my merchandise money might give away the snag in his plan.

I just watched the Cinemassacre review of ROS...and I believe James said something akin to how I feel. That it doesn't change a thing about what he thinks of the OT, basically. (he also said he's over SW and reviewing them, which I also agree about. But that's neither here nor there.)
I have control about how I want to take certain stories in movies, TV, books, etc. If I want to only see the OT as its own thing and the prequel and sequel trilogy as "what if" stories, I have the right to do just that. So whatever.
If you'd like, pretend the SE/DVD/blu-ray edition is part of the nine-movie series, and that the theatrical OT is its own timeline, like an alternate universe. (hint to Disney and Disney+...though Abrams said there's no plans apparently for them)
