10. Sorceress. Every once and a while you come across a movie that you can’t take your eyes off of because you have to know if it’s going to get worse. This has a higher production quality than the Deathstalker movies, but the extra money they spent on that was at the expense of wigs, makeup and quality acting talent. Seriously, the costumes and acting in this is what you’d expect from one of those Woodrocket porn parodies, minus the payoff of at least being porn. There’s only one word to really describe this: “wow”.

Something like Deathstalker with a higher budget, but worse acting and costumes sounds awful in a very amazing way.

Yeah it’s on Prime but a friend I was telling about it also found it on something called “Tubi”.

#23 Lady Bird
*Watched on Prime
Better than I remember the first time around. It has sharp writing, tremendous acting, and is quite witty. It's a great film. [****]

11. The Sisterhood. Another low budget “sword and sorcery” movie but set in a post-apocalyptic world ala Mad Max. Decent acting from Chuck Wagner (he’s the real star of this) but ultimately it’s just boring. The fight scenes are long and drawn out. And I swear they had so few extras (but wanted to have lots of violence) that there are some fight scenes where you see the some guys die three or four times. It’s to bad this movie was so f***ing boring and felt like it was four hours long because it had heart and tried really hard. It almost even seemed like they were trying to set up a franchise. But I was ultimately so bored I ended up texting friends and wasn’t even paying attention.

14. The Cutting Edge: The Magic of Movie-Editing - So I watched this in a video-editing class that I am taking. Very good documentary. Made me see how important editing is and it's as important as direction.

Scorsese knows how to make a damn film. He delivers another gangster epic right up his alley. The acting, direction, and writing are all wonderful. Even though it’s overly long, it never actually feels that way. If you like Scorsese, you’ll love this. [****]

This movie is a fun time. It’s nothing great but it entertains you and isn’t long, so it’s an easy watch. A few run rap scenes and some unexpected cameos made it enjoyable. [***]

I went to sleep during Aladin last time I posted in this thread, so it doesn't count...
1. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and now... 2. Red Sparrow - w00p, w00p. Finally a movie I was able to watch fully, I'll try to watch at least 8 more 'til january is over...
(I think I'll start editing the movies to this post from now on. Damn I'm slow.)

Tremendous acting from both McConaughey and Leto, completely deserving of all of the awards they won. Combine that with a great script and you can see why this movie was praised so much. [****]

Technically, this movie is shot well and the acting is solid. However, the story is terrible. It never picks a consistent tone and it feels like the whole thing is pointless by the end. [**]

12. Child’s Play. A good concept that was well done. It doesn’t start out as cheesy as it would later become, until the doll comes alive. Then it gets silly.

I was going to watch another horror movie today, but Doctor Dracula was such a steaming piece of shit I still haven’t recovered from it.
Maybe tomorrow.

An uncomfortable movie to watch and I mean that in the best way. There are great performances, stellar direction, bleak imagery, and an unsettling tone throughout. [****]

13. Blood Savage. The biggest question this movie poses is “how in the hell did Evander Holyfield end up in this low-budget schlock?”. Low budget indeed. There’s one scene where a boom mic is visible for like a minute from two different angles. Usually stuff like that has to be pointed out to me. The movie itself is good. It had the characters, the story and the setting but lacks gore, violence and dead bodies. There was some but the lighting was so bad it was hard to make out. The sound effects helped but also hindered, because I wanted to see where all those sounds grotesque pain were coming from. The acting was all surprisingly good. Lori Birdsong did a great job once her character begins walking. It was worth checking out if you’ve seen other “crazy redneck family” movies like Texas Chain Saw Massacre of House of 1000 Corpses and want to explore the genre more. This one just kind of goes around in circles too much. [EDIT] Evander Holyfield was an executive producer of this movie. I still don’t understand.

There’s a lot of good going for this movie. It’s shot well, features some strong action scenes, and most of the action works. I do think it dragged at times but it’s still a very good time. [***½]
