14. Child’s Play 2. I enjoyed this one way more than the first one. It was just...better. Yeah it was more violent. The animatronics of Chucky were really well done. The characters were better. But beside all that it was just better than the first one. My only problem was at the end there were way too many fake-out deaths.

#30 - A Bug's Life
*Disney+
Though it’s not up to par with the strongest efforts from Pixar, this movie is still a ton of fun. Great voice acting, impressive visuals, and a good story that brings the laughs. [****]

15. Dead Man. Such a cool movie that’s take on a whole other layer watching it this time since I’ve been listening to the soundtrack a lot since I first saw it this time last year. I only wish Crispin Glover was in it more. His scene at the beginning is so awesome.

stuff I have watched last few days
Heathers- still enjoyable after not seeing it for a few years. Lots I could talk about but would probably break forum rules The Irishman - long and felt long at times, great performances and I liked the lowkey ending. The To Do List - entertaining movie, I'm big on Aubrey Plaza so I'm biased somewhat. What Men Want - didn't really like this movie, maybe it's projecting but I feel like this film could have said some things about being a sensitive man or toxic masculinity for example.

18-Fighting with my Family
Watched off Hulu
Not bad. Having already seen the UK documentary, was that made by BBC or ITV?,there is stuff that doesn't add up right. But a decent fictionalized version of Paige's life from when she started wrestling until she debuted on Raw.
The guy that plays her brother looks like Simon Pegg's little brother. Nick Frost and Lena Headey are really good as Ricky and Saraya Knight.
Worth checking out .

#31 - Man of Steel
*DVD
The DC movie universe got off to a good start. It just never sniffed being great or on the level of most Marvel films. Henry Cavill gives a strong performance and the action sequences are a highlight. The story just lacks to put it over the top. [***]

11. Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension (2011) 12. Max Headroom: 20 Minutes into the Future (1985)So for those not familiar with the history of Max Headroom, this was the original British television movie that introduced the character and inspired the later ABC (American) Max Headroom television series. This movie was later re-shot to be the pilot of the ABC series, but in the American version almost everybody except Matt Freyer and Amanda Pays (Edison/Max and Theora) were recast with American actors, and the second half was significantly changed to give Max a bigger part. But that's not the version I'm watching. So this movie is very important pop culturally. It, along with Blade Runner, helped define the Cyberpunk aesthetic for an entire generation, and its commentary on commercialism and technology are legendary. But, to quote poparena, "important doesn't mean good", and as a movie this is just horrible. It is slow-paced and at times hard to follow what's happening, and it spends way too much time focusing on the pointless actions of secondary characters that nobody cares about. Max himself has surprisingly little to do. He never interacts with any of the main characters and has virtually no impact on the plot. As near as I can tell he basically did a three minute stand-up comic set that got diced up and played periodically throughout the second half of the movie. But most damning, this movie is just plain boring. If you are a big fan of Cyberpunk or 80's cheese and have a really good attention span, then you might enjoy watching this. But otherwise I can't possibly imagine why anybody would want to track this down.

#32 - Stronger
*Prime
The premise makes for some dramatic and emotional moments. Those deliver but what really puts this way over the top is the performances by Jake Gyllenhaal and Tatiana Maslany. [****½]

11. Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension (2011) 12. Max Headroom: 20 Minutes into the Future (1985) 13. Recess: School's Out (2001)So I've been on kinda a Recess kick lately. Not really sure what brought it on but it led me to this. Man, it's hard to believe this movie is nearly twenty years old. I feel so ancient. This is so much better than you'd expect and I really love it. And James Woods steals just about every scene he's in as the villain where he does little more than channel Hades.

16. The Black Hole. This was pretty f***ing awesome. It’s even more awesome when you realize it’s a Disney movie. From a forgone era before they were more concerned with keeping everyone happy and instead just made awesome movies. Did I mention that it was awesome??

Catch Me If You Can. (2002)
One of those movies I'd see listed and say "I really should watch that, but I don't have 2 hours and 25 minutes to spare." But yesterday I finally said I'm watching it. Was 10pm, figured I could stop it and go to bed when need be.
It sure didn't seem that long, I was invested in it. Only time I was tempted to stop it was at the escape from the engagement party, when I saw my wife getting sleepy and looked at the clock seeing it said 12:10am. Finished it. I may not watch it again, but highly recommended.

6. The Philadelphia Story - it was another “movies as literature” movie. This time the theme was romantic comedies from the 40s and 50s. How they used slapstick and social commentary and farce to make a movie. It was very well done and quite enjoyable.
