So Vince McMahon commentating, wow it can be so over the top sometimes, even comical.
I was watching the first Savage / Steamboat match, and it is hilarious what happens, McMahon yelling that Steamboat swallowed his tongue, only to have Ventura correct him and say his tongue is sticking out. Similar thing happened when Doink injuried Crush. McMahon yelling that Doink took his arm out of his socket, and than Savage had to correct him and say it's a cask.

I don't even need to think of an exact quote to know it usually went like this: "NEW CHAMPION, YES, YES, YES, ONE, TWO, THREE, HE GOT HIM . . . No, he didn't."

Let me just say, his commentary over Andre's entrance in the SNME battle royal was awesomely hammy.

Commentator Vince tried so hard to sound like Howard Cossell in the early days, but was always pure cheese.

You go back and listen to him now and he's terrible.
So cheesy and OTT, he knows the name of like 6 or 7 moves and everything else is just "what a manoeuvre"
Also, listening to Vince commentate any Shawn Michaels segment from 1995 to 1997 is really quite something, you can hear the thirst Vince has for HBK, it's hilarious.

It really is madness to to think Mr. McMahon, the Vince McMahon, the boss, used to do that over the top commentary. I remember as a kid when my dad used to tell me he owned the company I would get pissed off and tell him it was Jack Tunny that owned it, oh the innocence of youth.

I have always thought Vince was an atrocious commentator.

I want to hear more of these. There's been lots of Vince threads in past day or two!

He really tried to make us believe Adam Bomb and Duke Droese were going to win the Royal Rumble and main event WrestleMania.

Imagine if Vince and David Crockett called a match together. The overselling of each pinfall attempt would be ridiculous. Lol

For better or worse, his style fit the New Generation like a glove.
I find his goofiness pretty endearing, honestly, but he was on the call when I fell in love with wrestling so I'm definitely biased.
Oh, something random that cracks me up every time: Near the end of the Bret/Diesel Cage Match, Diesel is climbing the cage and Vince, in his super-excited voice, bellows out, "Diesel's climbing over! His pants are ripped!"

I love it. He had a great voice. His enthusiasm felt legit too.. Like dude actually did believe Aldo Montoya was going to pin Bigelow after a dropkick.

For the SummerSlam 1990 match between The Rockers and Power & Glory, he actually re-did his commentary of the pre-match angle (Shawn Michaels getting hit in the knee with Hercules's chain) for the Prime Time Wrestling airing so that it was more over-the-top.

Technically, no Vince was never the best commentator in the world. But he was fantastic in selling the stories he wanted to tell to the audience. Listening to him call things like the time Flair and Perfect beat up Ultimate Warrior during a tag match, he’s very descriptive and you can tell how hard he’s trying to narrate every detail to the viewers at home. And his voiceover for when Luger slammed Yokozuna I’ve always found fascinating, he goes “Yes! Yes, it was un-bee-lieveable!” It didn’t work, but he was so committed to making Luger *the* next big star, I can’t help but admire his drive.
JR, Caudle and Schiavone are my actual favorites FTR.

I've always been pretty indifferent to his announcing, but I dare anyone to listen to Vince hype up the old Survivor Series and Royal Rumble cards and not feel the blood pumping. Like so: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYTzPqO4QQY (Audio only, but that's all you need.)
