So, Braun is champion now and Nakamura's reign is over. Boy was that a nothing reign. No memorable feuds, no memorable defences - just nothing. And now he loses it in a nothing match. 5 minutes and a flat ending.
Braun does nothing for the belt, and the belt certainly does nothing for Braun. At this point he has officially entered Kane territory.
Has the belt ever felt so meaningless?

Shin got to unveil the new belt at least although in my mind it means less now because it looks worse.

It just doesn’t look like it should be the IC title. It’s just so plain and boring looking.

And to think, if literally anyone other than Cody had paid to bring back that classic design, we'd probably still have it. Their pettiness knows no bounds.

New belt looks hideous, and it’s a damn shame how badly the IC title gets treated.

I agree that Nakamura's reign was shit, but IMO, the new belt looks great for new belt standards, albeit not as good as the classic design.

Boy was that a nothing reign. No memorable feuds, no memorable defences - just nothing. How many reigns does this apply to across all the titles in the last five years? I can think of about a half dozen good reigns.

Man the title reign pages on Wiki haven't been updated in nearly a year?

An easy presumption, but with it lining up with the new Cruiserweight belt...it might be how they do the new midcard belts, like how the top titles all look similar. Wouldn't shock me to see the US get a redesign soon in the same vein.

Not really. It suffers the same issues of not getting defended during the Miz's reigns too. Miz just gets TV time regardless of if he's doing anything or not.

Braun will do more for the IC Title than Nakamura did that's for sure. Nakamura started to be a dub when he lost to AJ 78 times. He was never gonna do anything dope with this belt besides look like a side scroller Stage 5 boss.
Strowman on the other hand is treated far better by the company compared to Nakamura. He's not gonna be some Rock 97 level champion but he'll probably at least bring some more prestige to it given they treat him well even when fans were shitting on him.

All they had to do with the IC Belt was change the strap to black.

Yeah but he was still consistently downplayed. Nobody takes Nakamura seriously anymore. Strowman is a different case because prior to this feud he's had the Fury match, tag team champion and feud with Rollins, singles feud with Lashley, SNL WM stuff. He's just always in some type of feud that gets major notice.

It never ceases to amaze me how a promotion can have two midcard titles, about 8,500 wrestlers under contract, and no earthly @#$%ing idea what to do with those belts.
And yeah, 80s-90s IC design with the black strap is the best look, the Mr. Perfect/Bret Hart look. I remember despising the Attitude Era design from the moment I first saw it back in the day.

He's just always in some type of feud that gets major notice. Yeah, he’s slipped nicely into that Big Show/Kane role (not in a Local Man sense). It’s the best role for him, really, it’s gonna keep him employed for the next 20 years. But like I’ve said before, Strowman probably should have gotten a world title win early on, just to get one in the bank, so to speak. Big Show, Kane, The Undertaker... all of them won one real early, and it gave them some sense of stable credibility while they were away from it for years at a time. Strowman’s at that point now, but without having had that win.
