And in fairness it has had its successes here and there recently like the Batman/TMNT crossover comic and animated film. Plus with the retro beat em up game coming out, its a decent position to get some momentum back.
Bay's production company just wasn't an ideal fit for the most recent two movies and Rise of TMNT made the mistake of frontloading too many of its character/story changes to the point where there was never enough of an audience there to give it a chance. There's loads of writers and directors that could do live action TMNT justice again, and the next TV series has a chance to make a good first impression if the designs/animation look solid.

Mirage went away. There's a joke there somewhere.

Won’t lie, some of the aspects that carried over like Donnie often having goggles or tech gear as part of his main attire and Raph being often bulkier and wearing a full head bandanna, I don’t mind those.
But my favorite Turtle designs were always Chris Allan’s, he found a perfect middle ground between the kind of action and expressions needed for more dramatic stories with the charm of the 1987 models.

The TMNT are probably my favorite franchise ever, but it just doesn't look good in CGI to me. I haven't enjoyed any of the CGI Turtles stuff so far. Even the 2007 movie was just kinda tolerable.

TMNT fans rave about the 2012 Nick series all the time, I thought it was terrible and quickly lost it's own identity after the first season

I think they look fine. Definitely feel more in line with 2012 and 1987's designs while also looking like the proportions of younger teens.

This might be blasphemy to say but I kinda like how Raph’s full skull bandanna is his new trademark now.
Don needs goggles.
