So they release Nigel, who is one of the better announcers they have had in forever, bringing both knowledge and class to the announce position...But they keep Mauro Ranallo, who is an active detriment to not only every show he is on, but to every announcer he works with. God damn, I am glad I stopped giving this company money. Mauro does a great job especially in light of what he goes through. Grow up.

Seems Observer says Nigel was one of the ones furloughed and that's why he hasn't been used. Very disappointed by that, they got rid of two of my favorite commentators in one swoop then. If he's furloughed he's on a WWE NXT UK contract so he's being paid well by the UK government for now

And he's the only one to mention Hana on WWE TV (Sasha's armband for her last night was sweet as well) so yeah, Mauro's ok in my book.

If he's furloughed he's on a WWE NXT UK contract so he's being paid well by the UK government for now Yeah, the UK furlough scheme is different from the US one, in that the government pays 80% of your wages (up to £2500 a month), so that companies don't have to pay loads out in redundancy money, and companies can keep their staff, so they can pick back up where they left off. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone on an NXT UK employee contract was furloughed. Different rules for the self employed, so anyone who is classed as a contractor would be slightly different (although tax rules in the UK would make it counter productive for any wrestler signing up as a contractor to NXT UK, unless they're allowed to work elsewhere).

Deonna Purrazzo debut promos started on Impact last night, Drake Maverick is in NXT Cruiserweight title finals, Kurt Angle is reffing a match tonight on NXT, and another team while not apart Covid-19 of releases showed up on AEW tonight. The flood gates are starting to open. It’s going to be interesting to see where everyone ends up. Although, Angle and Maverick are still under contract to WWE for now, as is anyone who was released who had a contract running for longer than three months (the 'no compete clause' is basically the notice period).

Both announcers are very good at their job. Please, let's keep this thread from turning into posters telling each other to grow up.

You guys are talking like you had no idea he was with Ring of Honor for ten years before he came to WWE (and two with TNA). Hopefully he goes back there. They complete one another.
He can’t wrestle anymore. Too many brutal injuries.

Thus, that would be a last resort. Ahh yes, the last resort to stop a company making a tonne in profit from making...an inch less of a tonne in profit. Dire circumstances, that.

This company is talking about last resort measures that could lose them more talent when they made THE BIGGEST PROFIT THEY'VE EVER MADE THIS YEAR DESPITE THE PANDEMIC Does this feel like a company that even has an ounce of anything together with itself at this point? Good god.

Good god. I think they made the profit in Q1 right? That would largely be unaffected by the pandemic outside of the last 2 weeks of March. Q2 would be the one with the effects. And this is the problem with being a public company, a profit is not enough if it’s not meeting “expectations.”

It'll be interesting to see what kind of 'bonus' Vince gives himself this year.

Bryan Alvarez reported on Observer Live that several released wrestlers have been offered deals to come back to WWE but at a fraction of what they were previously making.

Bryan Alvarez reported on Observer Live that several released wrestlers have been offered deals to come back to WWE but at a fraction of what they were previously making. Shock of shocks, nothing about what WWE did was out of necessity or financial concerns, but as a shitty 'bargaining' tool to pay people less. WWE contracts aren't worth the paper they're printed on.

Gonna imagine most of them will decline because at this point they can just do better elsewhere when this is over. I do hope they re-sign Maverick though, otherwise the PR backfire they'll have of making the whole tournament about him is not gonna be pretty,
