I decided to give Last.fm another try, and although I'm not entirely convinced by it, it's actually made me listen to more music. These are my top ten albums for the week:
Starting from the top row, and going left to right:
The Muffs - Blonder and Blonder Shonen Knife - 712 The La's - The La's The Hit Parade - Cornish Pop Songs The Kinks - The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society Circle Jerks - Group Sex ABBA - Gold The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots Beat Happening - Black Candy Shonen Knife - Osaka Ramones

Morbid Angel- Altars Of Madness Anaal Nathrakh- A New Kind Of Horror Extreme Noise Terror- Being And Nothing The ENT album in particular is a seriously overlooked gem. Absolutely brutal recording. Oh boy I haven't heard the name Anaal Nathrakh since like, the mid/late 00's. I remember when everyone touted them as like the absolute pinnacle of extreme metal. I'll have to give them a listen for the first time in forever, I'm into a lot heavier stuff than I was then. I'd say they're up there with Pig Destroyer and Devourment as the heaviest music can get before it starts breaking down into an incomprehensible mess of gutturals and riff salad. Sure you could listen to Nyogthaebliz but would you really want to? AN might get some points deducted from purists for the cleans, but I think they're one of the few bands where the more listenable parts make the songs heavier and way catchier as a whole.

What I’ve been listening to most of the week:
The Beatles - White Album Tame Impala - The Slow Rush Fear Factory - Demanufacture Deftones - White Pony
And a lot of Lamb of God’s stuff but I haven’t bothered to listen to the new album yet. Also Elton John’s Greatest hits has now taken up residence in my car CD player.

I wasn't expecting to, but I quite enjoyed the first video in the above post of music from the USSR. It sort of reminded me a little bit of the funk and jazz-influenced post-punk bands from the eighties, stuff like Pigbag and Konk and Rip Rig + Panic. This week I've been binging a bit on things that are twee and/or jangly. I've mostly been listening to:
Starting top left and going left to right: Supersnazz - Diode City The Hit Parade - Cornish Pop Songs Dusty Springfield - Dusty in Memphis The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses Beat Happening - Dreamy Shonen Knife - Yama-no Attchan Ash - Free All Angels Brighter - Disney and Other Singles Cub - Come Out, Come Out
The Hit Parade - With Love From...

But that's not a topic for this board. Also the Batman Forever soundtrack rules. Batman Forever rules.

Yeah, I feel if they didnt call themselves "The Misfits" the 2 albums he made with them would be WAY better looked at by people, and Graves would be seen as a better vocalist but he isnt Danzig so in the trash with him, which his opionions he belongs there. I do quite dig his solo stuff too and got to open for him during his last acoustic tour which was a nifty gig to say I played.
