Hell of a win for them. Delayed by half an hour, outside of their usual time, on a Saturday, and not even in primetime and still scoring that high is a major accomplishment. I was expecting like a third of that.

I usually don't look at ratings, but they're basically tied with the UFC in the key demos, and beat Nascar. Pretty good for a t-shirt company that's going to be closed soon.

I was expecting like a third of that. Had a strong lead in and unopposed wrestling-wise on USA probably helps (though I guess Takeover started at some point in the show). I’d expect over a million for the unopposed September 2nd Wednesday night show.

AEW has a strong and dedicated fanbase then. Confirmed.
Do you guys remember when SD was shown on FS1(same day and timeslot) and they absolutely flopped? WWE has lost a lot of their hardcore audience and are reliant on casual viewership.
Fantastic rating for AEW. They have to be happy.

Anyways, the biggest drop involved the female demo(.19 compared to the previous show .26) Meltzer has mentioned that the past month or two has show an increase in viewers per home and combined that with an increase in female viewership makes him think that more girlfriends/wives have been watching AEW recently, which seems logical based on the data. It could be the case that when the time slot moves to a Saturday, your significant other might be less likely to sit down and watch wrestling with you if she has other plans or other things she watches on a Saturday.

A great showing, given everything working against Dynamite this is a major win.

That's a pretty big win for them having to go on a Saturday, after having been DELAYED a half hour because of the god awful stalling the Pacers/Heat were doing. If they're scouting for days to potentially put the second show, given a lot of people thought Saturdays might be a "Death Slot", that's impressive for them and shows just how much of a dedicated fanbase AEW really has.
It'll be interesting to see how they perform on a Thursday as well, also unopposed, this week. But given they probably had expectations to lose a large chunk of their audience, this is a big deal and congrats to them! Great show deserved good numbers, very interested to see the breakdowns and to see if anything got close to a million again

I would say AEW passed TNT test. They could have put AEW on Thursday this week. Since there was no NBA on. But decided to put on Saturday between 5 and 6 for a reason.
That reason IMO was to test how AEW show would do in that time slot. Since they still did 755 and .31 in 18 to 49 against competition. I have a feeling they will be announcing 2nd show one hour show for Saturday at 6 or 7 eastern time in the next few weeks.

Is this really that good in the sense that they were well over 900k last week? Back to back weeks above that number would have been a great accomplishment

Back to back weeks above that number would have been a great accomplishment Their overall viewership on the last Dynamite was 792 and the demo was .32. Yes, it’s good. I personally thought their viewership would be in the 600k range and the demo would be down to .28 or so. People just don’t typically watch TV on Saturday. The fact that their audience followed them is really great. Being the #5 show for the night in an unusual time slot on a Saturday with quite a bit of competition is awesome.

Great show deserved good numbers, very interested to see the breakdowns and to see if anything got close to a million again I’d imagine the Thursday episode will do a normal number since the change in days is likely to be offset by being unopposed. September 2nd they should do a monster number. They should stack that show too just as a litmus test to see what kind of reach they have right now.
