That was probably the fastest I've ever binged a season. Midnight on New Years, done before noon. Awesome season, hyped. Mrs. Laruso's deadpan summations of the feud remains a highpoint. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}So we all agree Tory is Terry's kid?
Also, really wanted to see Hawk get his ass kicked. But the face turn won me over way too easily. Yeah to me, Hawks "turn" was formed more out of desperation and seeing how his attenpts to curry favor were always spurned more than genuinely wanting to fix things I would have liked to have seen more introspection from Hawk as the season progressed. I mean, it's one thing for him to accept that his friendship with Demetri fell apart. It's a shame, but it happens. But then Aisha is gone, Bert is gone, Miguel is gone and wants nothing to do with him, "Assface" is gone (what was his real name?), even Stingray is gone. Now he's forced to hang out with douche-nozzle Kyler and Robbie, who Kreese has spent weeks telling him he was the enemy. To him Cobra Kai is basically Theseus' ship. We got some of that, but it really felt glossed over, so his "face turn" felt rushed and like it was done simply because he felt sorry for Demetri and not because he realized there was nothing left in Cobra Kai to be loyal to.

Also, really wanted to see Hawk get his ass kicked. But the face turn won me over way too easily. Yeah to me, Hawks "turn" was formed more out of desperation and seeing how his attenpts to curry favor were always spurned more than genuinely wanting to fix things {Spoiler}I don't think his turn was the curry favor. They showed that he had been struggling with Kreese's Cobra Kai and what it meant. He did break Demetri's arm, which yeah, he deserved an ass kicking for that, but he was starting to realize that Cobra Kai was going too far. And then Kreese brought in Kyler, and ignored Hawk's objections. When Kyler celebrated with him, everything clicked. He was fighting alongside Kyler, and against his friends. He was watching Miguel, Demetri, Mitch, Bert, and Chris get beat up, and he didn't like that he was against them, and with people like Kyler.
A side note, this was the first season that Kreese lost. The season finale had a happy ending. In season 1, Johnny saw that some of his students were going down the same path that he was under Kreese, and Kreese returned. In season 2 we had the huge school brawl, and Kreese take control of Cobra Kai. But this season, despite everything that had happened, Kreese lost. He's got Cobra Kai, and a dojo full of true believers, but Johnny and Daniel are united against him. Their students are united against Cobra Kai, look how easily Demetri and Hawk mopped the floor with Cobra Kai after Hawk's turn.

There's actually a big plothole in the Season 4 setup: {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Cobra Kai was originally banned from the All Valley because of Kreese and Silver. They were reinstated because of Johnny, but Kreese would still have a lifetime ban. Daniel's on the board of directors for the tournament; why doesn't he use his influence to keep Kreese out of competition? {Spoiler}they never said Kreese himself was banned, just Cobra Kai. and the board of directors is a board, not a dictatorship. Daniel doesn't have the power to keep people out. he tried to use his influence with the board to uphold the ban of Cobra Kai in season 1, which failed, and Cobra Kai is a gang of sociopaths who spent the entire season manipulating everyone, so there's no way Kreese is going to be kept out.

Man, Elizabeth Shue kills the rest of the cast when it comes to acting. It makes sense, but boy is it noticeable when she shows up. Imagine how lop-sided the acting would be if Hilary Swank showed up.

Swank can be pretty rough in movies where she doesn't die tragically.

Every actress has. I'm not trying to put down either of their abilities, I'm just saying I fully believe that if both ladies were putting forward their best, then the two-time Oscar winner would get the nod over Elisabeth "Don't @@@@ With the Babysitter" Shue.

You could see he was conflicted about breaking Demetri's arm. Then Kyler joining and eventually Robbie joining. Also was it just Demetri or Miguel as well? Hawk never attacked Miguel and his reason to support Kreese was due to what happened to Miguel. When Johnny and Miguel disagreed with his alliance to Kreese and their reasoning why, it did seem to have some impact on him and cause him to question it, but still going back to him. You could tell he was conflicted throughout the season. Many have compared Robbie to Anakin in Star Wars turning to the dark side, where Hawk could be like Vader turning back, but doing so before it was too late. The question is where will Robbie lie in the end? Will he have any sort of redemption or will it be too late?

So Episode 2... (I am trying to blur my vision when coming into this thread, as I am doing this the longer way, obviously) {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Did Daniel and Johnny do a TOTAL ELIMINATION on the one thug?
Got some Double Dragon type vibes from that fight, though every fight breaking out in a karate match can border on not being realistic, IMO. It's what made the S2 finale TOO over the top.
I was about to be all "not another Maleficent" when they started Kreese's backstory, but they did a good job balancing out his sympathetic story and him still being a creep. Oh, Clarence...
I wonder if we are going to be made to understand Kreese more because someone worse is coming? No, not HIM, but I'm thinking maybe a certain 1-2 people from KK3?
Assume the phone call Daniel got after Johnny leaves was where to find Robby? I remember being confused that he knew just where he was eventually, despite the first half of the episode.
If what we think of Tory's mom is true, will this be how to end her story without inviting back a certain actress?

Episodes 3-5 done now... {Spoiler} Chozen as a grumpy old man works. When Ep. 5 began, I knew there'd be a swerve and he wouldn't cause trouble. Then CK swerves me AGAIN when he has the Live or Die moment that becomes the Miyagi Moment.
Speaking of grumpy old men, ED ASNER IS BACK!!!!!!
So ep. 6 is going to be another Kreese flashback episode, just as I was back to seeing him as a manipulative creep that I loved Mrs. LaRusso standing up to.

Up to episode 6 so far. Want to avoid spoilers but had to drop by to say this season is so freaking good. Episode 5 was amazing.
This and Mandalorian have to be the best TV shows running at moment.

I'm about halfway through. Had to catch up on season 2 first. This show is so great. I really love the Johnny and Miguel relationship. The high school karate battle royale at the end of season 2 was batshit crazy and I loved it lol

I forget....were the other seasons heavy on movie flashbacks? Cause it seems there's a LOT in this season.

Whenever something happens that is directly tied to Karate Kid films they do a flashback of movie footage to give context to younger viewers who might not have seen the old movies or for adults who haven't watched them since they were a kid but would have their memory refreshed by the flashback. I think the reason there seemed to be way more this season was because there were a lot more direct ties to storylines from the films.

Easily my favorite show right now. I thought the way they brought back the characters in this season was great. Elizabeth Shue's purpose for coming back was perfect. Although the little girl that Danny saved being the VP of Dayona was a little contrived I still liked it. I was a little surprised to see Chozen had forgiven Daniel but I was happy to see it. Now it's fairly obvious that Terry will be back for next season. But I really hope he's not Tori's dad. Now we just need Mike Barnes and pretty much everyone has returned

That's why I said "pretty much". But all kidding aside. I had forgotten about him until I started watching Karate Kid tonight. So I looked it up and the meat locker that Daniel trains in is called Fernandez Co. So I have to assume he's still on good terms with Daniel.

Just finished ep 7. That staredown in the park at the end. Wow. Got me so hyped.
Is it fair to put this as one of the best ever TV shows? To me, it has zero flaws, hasnt had a bad episode and each season has been gripping. Great fight scenes, great cast, great characters, great storytelling, a good dose of humor thrown in---Miguels look after Johnny's suggestion of calling it Kobra Kai Karate in the last ep I watched was so funny.
This is how you do a reboot. Superb.
