I've had this show on My List for a while now, to watch when I could. The film trilogy (never saw the fourth) were fun to watch when I was a kid and the premise sounded interesting.
I guess I kinda wanted to see if it could actually have a good second series first.
Well, it did, but then things happen in life and I didn't get round to it, and now it's had both a good third and good fourth series with a fifth to come. So...I really need to crack on, re-watch the films then do the show this year.
Said it before on this thread, but I especially appreciate them embracing rather than retconning or ignoring so much in the franchise, as many others shows sadly do. Re-introducing the hamtacularly entertaining Terry Silver and doing it well is a big plus point in my book.

Just finished the fourth season. My thoughts so far: {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}The LaRussos are the embodiment of a family who means well but don't think things out throughly.
The basketball scene with Kenny, Lei, and Anthony reminded me of the beach scene with Johnny, Daniel, and Ali. I think where going to see more of this story in season 5.
I understand why Devon was added but she did not come across as a bad ass. Everytime she tried to act tough she came across as adorable.
You can't help but pull for Tori even though she is a villian. She gets two different jobs and both times the LaRussos sabotage her. She wins the tournament and it looks like things are turning around for her when she finds out the ref had been paid off. Hopefully things turn out for the better for Tori.
What Silver did to Stingray and Kreese was evil. Stingray was an idiot but he didn't deserve that.

Robbie is trying to do the right thing, even though he is on the wrong side. Even Kreese shows some humility and that isn't completely bad person, Vietnam just messed him up and he can't escape it.
I love Tori and Amanda LaRusso's story arc this season. Amanda realizes that Tori has reasons for her anger and wants to help her, while also realizing Samantha isn't completely innocent.
There is a lot of grey in this season, where we see Amanda and Daniel have a little Cobra Kai in them. Really the only pure good characters are Miguel and Demetri. The only pure evil is Silver, who is a complete psychopath.

Just finished the fourth season. Oh my. Spectacular soap opera drama and twists! I loved the new characters and dynamics they added. And ho boy.... Silver (and his interactions with Kreese in particular) are something else.
I love this crazy little universe they have constructed where it feels like anything can happen!
I remember how rough the acting was (particularly by the older actors who seemed like they got drummed out of retirement for this)... But either the direction has gotten better or the rust has worn off but everyone was pretty spot on with the whole atmosphere and feel of the show this season. Big props.
I can not wait to see what kind of crazy drama or events happen in the next season! This season brought some new and refreshing character interactions and I really want to see what other stuff they can develop.

Just finished the series.
Awesome
Those final two fights - Hawk vs Robbie and Tory vs Sam were f***ing awesome.
Silver was a great addition to the cast.

Like Dirty Harry where Scorpio paid a guy to smash his face in so he could publicly accuse Harry of police brutality.

Just finished and I gotta say I love it and want season 5 now. I'll post my impressions later but wow amazing. EDIT: Here's my full impressions. Not gonna bother doing spellcheck or rereading through it since I wrote a lot. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}If you want my rating I'd give it a 9/10.
Coming into this season I wondered how they'd be able set up future seasons. Last I checked the creators said they had at least 6 seasons planned. I wondered how they'd pull that off. Based on how this season ended, yeah they can do it.
The fact they lost and Cobra Kai expanded makes so much sense. Yeah, do that. I don't know if they're gonna have to run through each dojo or what but it'll be rough. Maybe they'll have to team up with those other dojos just to knock CK down some, we'll see. Either way I like the teamup and it'll continue next season I'm sure.
I hope this is the end of the whole Daniel vs Johnny thing. We've dealt with that for 4 seasons and now we don't need to see it anymore. Not going to spend anymore time on this because we're really done with that bullshit lol.
Kreese and Silver took me on a rollercoaster ride because I wasn't sure who was playing too. At first it felt like they were on the same page and would be. Never did I think Kreese of all people might show some signs of a face turn but alas we got it. We'll probably hear them blame Silver's attitude on drugs in a future season or something but shit, that was wild. Man sent him packing.
Just saying it here...f*** Stingray. He was funny in that earlier season but I can't stand dude. I actually sided with homie's neighbor. What a bitch lol.
Johnny's received some much needed development this season. He's in a relationship, he and his son made up at the end, he and his student (probably son in the future) went through some stuff, he's in a better spot with the other students at Miyagi-Do along with Daniel, he went through a lot. I don't know how this will all end for him but one thing's for sure, next season we'll see more of him being an actual "dad" to Miguel especially when he confronts Miguel's real dad. That'll be some good stuff and the same with him and Robby.
Daniel got some development too but not much to say here that isn't said above given it mostly deals with Johnny. I did like the stuff with their family and his relative breaking down exactly how Anthony's acting. At the end of the day both Sam and Anthony got so much LaRusso in them that it was bound to happen.
Miguel is so far above everyone else that mans had to get nerfed which makes sense. I get it but man when he's fully healed and he's ready to go off? I feel bad for whoever will face him. I felt so bad for him (literally muttered "oh my god") when Johnny said "Robby" after he said he loved him. Migeul crying, damn that was heartbreaking. Next season he'll truly see that Johnny considers him as a son. We just gotta get to that point. The whole stuff with Sam wasn't interesting to me but hey, overall good progression for him given he'll discover more of his past.
Robby was stone cold bruh. He was on ice for most of this season so to get to those last few episodes was something. Didn't expect him and his dad to make up but I really appreciate it. His mentorship with Kenny's special. It meant so much to him that he cried to his dad, I just didn't expect that at all.
I didn't expect Kenny's storyline to go this direction. I actually expected him to accept Anthony's apology resulting into them making up and being friends however I'm actually not mad about the angle they're taking it. We saw this kid go from a happy innocent smiling kid to a wild crazy bully. Also given he made it that far in the tournament at that young of an age, he's got a career.
Sam, girl. I disliked her a lil bit for some of this season but she made me a fan again at the end of it. I actually thought that the final match between her and Tori would result in Tori holding back and Sam getting that kick off which would injure Tori. Next thing you know Mrs. LaRusso runs out there to support Tori and Sam gets pissed. Glad it didn't turn out that way. I just really felt like they were leading into an "evil LaRusso" thing and granted, there's still time. We might get Sam in Cobra Kai in the last season or something, who knows. I'm just saying that I expected her to have a heel turn. She surprised me though.
I felt sooooooooo bad for Tori all through this season and shoutout to Mrs. LaRusso for trying to help her. Poor girl didn't need to go through the crap that she did. Even at that kid's party she was being embarrassed. The fact she won and then still asked if Sam was ok, yeah, that girl's good. They'll make up next season and be great friends. I look forward to them tag teaming some bums.
Shoutout to Mrs. LaRusso. She's bad. I had to look up her age lol. What she did for Tori and the fact she isn't that stereotypical "mom who's never doing anything in these shows" is great. She's a boss.
Anthony got what he deserved. Just hope it changes for him. That line about him being the one to protect the family makes me believe that when this whole thing ends Anthony will end up being champion. Don't know how, don't know why, don't know when but it was said for a reason.
To the rest of the new characters, I'll say they're dope but the standouts are Kenny and that one Debate Girl. That one Debate Girl's going to be a champion one day. Not sure which season but she's got it.
Overall it was dope. Those 10 episodes went by mad quick lol.

One thing I can't wait for in Season 5.
Johnny: So, what's the deal with this Chozen guy?
Daniel: well, the year we graduated, I went to Okinawa with Mr. Miyagi. Chozen and I wound up in a fight to the death over this girl Kumiko.
Johnny: Whoa, really? That's actually pretty badass, Larusso, she must have been some babe....
Wait, if you two fought to the death, how are you both still alive?

Sorry, just had to do that:) Anyway, I see your point, but I could also see him being like "damn, so Ali dumped you, and you had to go all the way to Japan to find another girl? What a loser."
