It always astounds me that despite Vince McMahon's love affair with massive, dominant wrestlers, his company almost invariably does a terrible job of booking them.

Considering he turned like 4 or 5 times in his first year with the WWE, this is not in the least bit surprising

I think it would be 35 actually. In early 96, he left the dungeon to help Sting against Harlem Heat. Then no showed their tag match the following week and went back to the dungeon.

It always astounds me that despite Vince McMahon's love affair with massive, dominant wrestlers, his company almost invariably does a terrible job of booking them. I like that they at least acknowledged it once with him, with Stephanie cutting a promo about how Big Show craves validation from fans, so he'll play to them, but then turns his back on them invariably because he's never their favorite, and he resents them for it. Then the cycle begins all over again. Which, as far as kayfabe reasons for shitty yo-yo alignment booking goes, is at least something plausible.

If I recall, the return at Royal Rumble 01 was as a heel as he did have a brief feud with Rock and then later with Shane in April at Backlash.
I thought the ShowGunns team were faces as this was during the Alliance feud, could be wrong.

It always astounds me that despite Vince McMahon's love affair with massive, dominant wrestlers, his company almost invariably does a terrible job of booking them. It was easier way back in the day when the monsters would crush Hogan after a match or on the Brother Love show or something. Even after Hogan eventually beat them, they still always had that bit of cred for nearly killing the Hulkster. Now they get stuck feuding with Ziggler and Roode or going back and forth with King Corbin and no one cares about any of that.

What gets me about this is how many's first feud was with Hogan or the Undertaker or someone already a huge name. So their first big feud was one they were never going to win, rather than them dominating someone other than jobbers on Superstars rather to establish them as a credible monster and threat.

Also turned heel on his lighter when it wouldn’t spark a few times.

And he turned heel in the WWE/Jetsons movie, but turned face again at the end.

I think it would be 35 actually. In early 96, he left the dungeon to help Sting against Harlem Heat. Then no showed their tag match the following week and went back to the dungeon. That same year, he was a heel as the WCW Champion until he had to face Hollywood Hogan at Hog Wild, which made him a babyface. Then, he joined the nWo, becoming a heel and won the World War 3 battle royal for a shot at Hogan's title. But, when he refused to give up the shot, he was kicked out and became a face again. So, within the last 4 months of 1996 he went from heel to face to heel to face.

I believe he missed one. Wasnt Big Show a face on Raw in 2002 when he was involved in a feud with Bischoff? Bischoff fired him, and then he showed up on Smackdown and attacked the Undertaker.

It is pretty shocking that a guy as likable as BS was turned that many times.
If AEW can last as long as Big Show Brandi Rhodes will obliterate this. She’s already had 4 turns since Dynamite started. She’s on her way to being a slightly more attractive Big Show.
