Uh, excuse me, Mr. Johnson, it's called PROFESSIONAL wrestling.
Let's try and keep our hijinx to ourselves, yeah?

Rock is such a megastar that even the stuff that people could find annoying about him is still legendary. I always enjoyed the hell out of this though.

So was there a competition to make Austin laugh with Stunner sells? If so Rock, Shane McMahon, and Scott Hall take the medals.

So was there a competition to make Austin laugh with Stunner sells? If so Rock, Shane McMahon, and Scott Hall take the medals. I think people just liked finding a unique way to take it to stand out. I forget who, but I could swear someone sold it once by flipping over Austin's shoulder in front of him, like a snapmare almost. In terms of just trying to make him laugh, though, Foley and Owen used to try to make Austin laugh, too, since the nature of the gimmick was that he'd try to remain stone-faced, so they'd ramp up the absurdity until he'd have to try to hide his face.

And Austin said he used to try to make people laugh and break character like The Undertaker

As far as I know, the Rock was the first to really sell the stunner like he'd been uppercut by the fist of god, right?
Before that, I remember most who sold the stunner did it like they took a cutter/crusher and just collapsed dead

I feel like unlike other top stars in the WWE previous to that, especially Shawn/Bret and Hogan/Savage, there never seemed to be any real heat between those two and you can even include Foley as the third tier in that group.

I think Austin admitted he was a little threatened by rock rising to prominence, but i bet his genuine personality is what got them good to deliver tons of moments

In Lita's book, she talked about being excited to take the Stunner* because she could bounce around. I don't actually remember her selling of it, though.
*Not during the Hardys/Power Trip angle, but later that year, when she and Matt had a one-off angle with Austin and Debra.

Learning that Austin and Rock were two guys who bonded over genuinely loving wrestling and trying to crack each other up has been one of the bright spots of recent years. The two of them revealing that they had their own secret handshake for each other was legit heartwarming.

And Austin said he used to try to make people laugh and break character like The Undertaker I remember hearing that Paul Bearer would try to do that, too. He'd try to ham it up during promos to try and make Undertaker break character, but more often than not, he'd go so over the top, he'd just make himself corpse (heh heh, corpse).

Didn't Austin and Rock end up being really good friends? Wouldn't surprise me if stuff like this is part of why.
Seeing Austin corpse on the way up the ramp was hilarious.

There's footage(from a house show or dark match probably) of Austin taking a Stunner from The Rock and he comically over sells it as well.

I think the one thing that made him crack was when Foley and Owen were having one of their "hardcore" matches with the giant bags of popcorn, and one of them started doing snow angels in the spilled popcorn.
