That was kinda shitty of him to say though. He sounded butt hurt and made out like doing steroids was somehow immoral. I dunno as I get older I care less and less about steroids. We all applauded Barry Bonds until suddenly we decided we hated him. IMO I may be biased because the 98 home run chase was a fond memory for me as a kid, but I always felt McGwire and Bonds deserved HOF consideration just based on their clutch abilities and batting eyes. The juice definitely aided them but if muscles was all it took to be successful in MLB, Chris Davis would have lasted way longer in Baltimore. With wrestling, I just want the talent to be healthy and responsible more than anything. The McGwire/Sosa chase in 98 was one of the coolest sports periods of time ever. I remember watching SportsDesk and reading the paper every morning to see where they were at

Finally got to watch the Steroid Trial episode. Jerry McDevitt was a breath of fresh air. The story about Vince ripping off the neck brace at dinner right after the not guilty verdict was classic.
I am hoping these guys will do season 4.

Looks like it might have been canceled... saw a few people pointing to a report by Meltzer... but didn't see the actual story >_>

Yea it's cancelled, apparently the creators are working on something else related to wrestling now. Guarantee after Ross and Hart thought they weren't represented properly, and it hurting Flair/Dreamer, a bunch of wrestlers wouldn't agree to do the show anymore.

I think it has run it's course, and I really liked it.

And a million YT channels sprang up to fill the void.
Sorry to hear that a professional production run by actual journalists got shut down, but also not terribly surprising. Wrestling is insular like porn, which is something I can't believe Vice hasn't done a doc about yet.

The guys who made it are now working on a show covering the territories led by the Rock's company so glad they're moving to something else even if DSOTR had to come to an end.

RVD also claimed he was taken out of context a lot too. They kept insisting Linda and Vince were on the plane ride from hell plane when they weren't which caused some issues, as well. But also the creators are teaming with the Rock's production company to look at Territory era wrestling apparently and Ross is signed on for that from what I heard.

I guess you could say that.
DSotR Screwed DSotR.
But why? Why would you say that?

They cancelled Dark Side of Football? How could they? They renew it, and next season's run would have driven the number of episodes where they actually talk about a dark side of football up to 2. Yea it's cancelled, apparently the creators are working on something else related to wrestling now. They also ignored Dustin's role in the plane ride.

Was a good show, but it probably ran its course.
I imagine the Plane Ride From Hell episode torpedoed a lot of good will with guys, so it would be harder to do things. Like the mysteriously lack of Dark Side of the Podcast suddenly, Dreamer, RVD, JR, Bret saying he hated his episode.
Like someone mentioned above, a pile of ill-researched Youtube videos will pop up in its place, narrated by monotone guys.

Yeah that Plane Ride From Hell episode I think killed them, way too many people came out of it looking bad and I think a lot of the relationships they built up with people they cratered.
Was a great series though, I just think it ran out of gas.

And again for as researched as it was... they continually kept pushing things like Vince and Linda were on board when it has always been reported that no they weren't. It's easy enough to go for if they misreport something like that which was easily verifiable... what else did they misreport?

I dunno about misreport but there were a couple episodes they somewhat pushed a narrative that Vince was behind something he really didn't have much to do with (one being the UWF episode and at least early on in the episode they made it seem like Vince was more part of the UWF creation than he actually was) Aside from that? I dunno about anything outwardly misreported just that several wrestlers felt the editing changed the narrative of what they were saying.

It was an entertaining show but they got a lot of facts wrong and got absolutely worked by a bunch of wrestlers.
Destroying several wrestlers' careers along the way - which, you know, those bits were typically just accurate representations of wrestlers doing horrible things - was always going to cut off their interview sources eventually
