This one hurt.
Jeopardy has been and always will be one of my favorite shows. The game and Alex have been a lifelong presence for me. I have many memories as a child of Jeopardy from playing the computer game at my sister's house to watching it with my Granny after school and playing against her (I think our overall record was a tie).
Now in my 30's, I still watch the show daily with a pen as a buzzer. I do the daily J!6 questions on my Amazon Echo.
It is one of my life goals to be a contestant on the show. With my wife's encouragement, we are studying to try to make that happen. With Alex's passing, it will now be a bittersweet experience.
Anybody who dreams of being on the show will now not get to share an interesting detail of their life with him, be subjected to his quick wit, and just be in awe of his presence. It is a very sad loss because we all saw that he was always there, and believed he always would be there.

Honestly, I've never seen a single second of Jeopardy, but he does hold the honour of being my favourite cameo in the X-Files.
Sad to see him gone.

SNL are starting to upload a lot of the Celebrity Jeopardy sketches to their YouTube channel if people want to relive those.

SNL are starting to upload a lot of the Celebrity Jeopardy sketches to their YouTube channel if people want to relive those. Celebrity Jeopardy is my all-time favorite recurring SNL bit, so this is great. Alex's surprise cameo in one of the later ones was hilarious, too.

Wish they had a more personable potential final Trebek champion. These people seem boring.

watching that video it becomes more obvious that he was wearing a wig for the last year or so.
RIP Again Alex, Jeopardy has been a staple in my house and my grandparents house for as long as I can remember.

Although I never watched Jeopardy on my own. I was very aware of the show and I did enjoy when it would show up in tv and movies like Cheers and White men can't jump.
I did however regularly watch classic Concentration as a kid.
In my teen years his commercials for different charitable organizations played alot at night. Than of course the SNL parodies.
Teachers in school used to love talking about his Canadian background.
So even though I wasn't into Jeopardy, he still managed to be on my screen fairly often.

Early on in his first go-around, but Jennings is doing pretty well. Of course it’s in relative terms of not being Alex, but I could get use to him

I hope he has a chance in the running and that they don't go with some celebrity. And with Mike Richards as EP now, who did a lot of his work with the Drew Carey version of Price is Right, that is just as possible. (Now why didn't we get the PIR tryouts aired like we will get J! ones?)

Ken Jennings is doing it for this week and I heard they're just going to have rotating guest hosts while they figure out who they want as a as a more full-time replacement. Next week, Katie Couric is the host.
Ken's got a lot on his plate between filling in on Jeopardy and his regular stints on Master Minds and The Chase. Not sure if he'd have the time to be the regular host. I know Alex was pushing for Ben Mankiewicz to be his replacement, so I'm sure he'll get at least a tryout.
