My lady and I bonded over Jeopardy. When we met we would watch it every day at 330pm. And the only reason she has an antenna and a DVR is to watch Jeopardy.
Buzzr started airing Classic Concentration recently. I don't like the game. Alex is great on it but the game aspect just doesn't work for me.

RIP to Alex.
Jeopardy has always been a big staple in my household... myself, my Grandparents, and mother watch it nightly.
even knowing this was the likely outcome of his diagnosis it's still sad.

And now another iconic Conan bit goes into the sunset.
RIP Alex, even if I never was a big fan of your show, I'll miss you nonetheless.

Between him and Regis, Hacksaw is the only commentator/interviewer left from the show. EDIT: and I hope no Tweeters use this picture to harp on...someone else associated with the people seen. Let's not be sore winners. I'll leave it at that, TYVM. Time to put aside petty things and celebrate a man most if not all of us can agree on. Actually, Sean Mooney and the woman in that picture were also interviewers at that Mania and are still with us. But damn, if that show doesn't get more depressing by the day.

Pancreatic cancer is almost always a death sentence, but Alex Trebek gave it a hell of an effort. Inspirational.
Jeopardy will likely go on, but it won’t be the same. RIP

We all knew it was coming, but it's still a painful loss. I got to see him give a speech at my alma mater about ten years ago. That's a memory that I will always cherish.

RIP Yeah, he was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer in March 2019. That he lasted this long and seemed in relatively good health until very recently is almost a minor miracle in of itself.
I really hope that continued efforts to be able to detect pancreatic cancer earlier bear fruit. The reason why it's so deadly is because of how we can't detect it earlier. By the time it's detectable, it's already metastasized to Stage III or Stage IV. If it can be caught in Stage I or even Stage II, this cancer could be much less of a death sentence.

RIP
Did see much of Jeopardy being in Australia , but it is played on the Pay TV service and have watched some of it that way. I think it’s on Netflix too.
One of my favourite memories was when he guested on “Cheers” when Cliff was a contestant on Jeopardy and bet the lot with the questions “People that have never been in my kitchen”

I was honestly rooting for him to pull through. The fact he got through it once didn’t guarantee that but he just seemed like the sort of guy I wanted that from.
In terms of his legacy...well, he’s pretty much one of the definitive game show hosts of all time. Like, it’s him, Bob Barker and Bob Monkhouse as three of the all time greats who got their respective concepts and how to come off as a warm personality for contestants and viewers alike.
He said in his book he hopes Jeopardy will continue on and I hope so too. Someone will have to fill some giant shoes but if they follow at least 1/10th of his lead, they’ll be fine.
Rest In Peace.

I hope the production company / studio in charge officially retires Jeopardy! in the US.
No one has the class or the charm of Alex Trebek.

Ken Jennings was brought on in the last season as a producer or something... I have a feeling it was to get him used to the other side of the podiums.

I haven’t seen much of him personally but yeah, if you’re going to have someone take over the show, might as well make it one of the best players of said game of all time.

The answer is the most influential game show host in my lifetime and a deep connection to my memories of my grandma.
Who is Alex Trebek?
Right for $200.
Gone at 80 years, but forever a part of our memories and lexicon. Thank you and Godspeed.
Also, f cancer.

I did kind of think to myself Jennings might be “that guy” when this day eventually came... that said he, Holzhauer, and Rutter are signed on to lead a reboot of The Chase.

I hope the production company / studio in charge officially retires Jeopardy! in the US. No one has the class or the charm of Alex Trebek. As morbid as it sounds, J! will go on. After all, if The Price is Right can continue without Bob Barker (yeah, I know, how well they are going on without him has been and is up for debate...) We've also had different versions of Family Feud without Richard Dawson since 1999. Let's Make A Deal without Monty Hall (fortunately he got to cameo host one last time on the Brady version). Password without Allen Ludden throughout the 80s. Match Game without Gene Rayburn since 1990. Pyramid without Dick Clark. I can only hope they think carefully about who should host and don't do what everyone else does; i.e. hire an outside celebrity or comedian. Yeah, doing so isn't always a bomb and we've gotten some decent hosting out of it (Wayne Brady on Let's Make a Deal is an example, so's Elizabeth Banks, who I admit did well on Press Your Luck). Still, I miss the day when you had a pool of talent that was dedicated to hosting game shows. Which reminds me...I already made a comment about the Card Sharks episodes. How many of the classic era of hosts are still with us? Off the top of my head... - Wink Martindale - Bob Eubanks - Bob Barker - Pat Sajak - Chuck Woolery - Peter Marshall - John Davidson - Marc Summers
