I enjoyed the beating he put on Jesus Aguilera at Armageddon. I enjoyed it mainly for making the sentence “John Cena beat up Jesus at Armageddon” a reality.

The TLC match with Edge was the perfect poetic ending to their feud.

When Jerry Lawler effusively commended Cena for how much he could lift during a video package when Cena was shown working out with lower card guys like Big E.
Fans chanting "Don't/Never Give Up!" on an episode of Raw during the time when Cena was forced to work for the Nexus.

Hard to pinpoint exact moments because my memory is kinda crap but:
- The rivalry with Edge. He really was the perfect slimeball heel for Cena to play off of
- The JBL and Umaga matches. Showed that Cena could get gritty and brutal when he needed to be
- Anytime he hit the AA on Big Show or any super heavyweight. Gave him the larger than life feeling of the 80's
- Duct tape (STOOP THAT LOW!)
And even though it basically killed Ryder and Eve, I overall enjoyed the Embrace the Hate storyline with Kane.

The chamber match where Edge cashed in. No, I said “where Cena looked strong.” Cute little answers like Summerslam 2014 or when he jobbed to Taker or got embarrassed in some way, that’s not what I was looking for.
Relax yourself. I meant his actual performance in the Chamber match.

The Umaga LMS match was really good. Umaga was a beast throughout the match and Cena's win just felt so earned. I've always liked Cena even during his Superman/"Five Moves Of Doom" run. But that was the first match since that 2005 that made me really appreciate him as a wrestler and a ring general.

Honeslty, Cena being a dominant face champion is what got me back into wrestling. I stopped watching in 03 where it felt like all the good guys on Raw were booked to be chumps.
I enjoyed seeing him go toe to toe with huge guys like Khali and Umaga. I know it's not the type of thing that's popular with "insider" wrestling fans, but this was before my smarkdom lol. It made Cena come off like a tough Hogan-esque good guy.
Promo wise, in the promos leading up to his match with The Rock, he was able to hang with Rock and as big of a Rock fan I am, Cena's promos actually got me to root for him in the lead-up to the match.

First thing that came to mind was Umaga and JBL matches, but he also did a really good job playing the crowd at the original One Night Stand. And remember he only lost due to interference.

I think Cena might have been one of the legit strongest dudes in wrestling history. Like the double AA to the Big Show *and* Edge? That's, what, like 630 + pounds on your shoulders?

Booking wise, I wasn't a fan at all, however..... I think Cena might have been one of the legit strongest dudes in wrestling history. Like the double AA to the Big Show *and* Edge? That's, what, like 630 + pounds on your shoulders? Physical acts like this I always mark out for...

It all went very poorly, very quickly, but the original Nexus attack is the one time that Cena felt like the cool, admirable, insanely tough superhero that they wanted him to be. Seven guys show up and destroy everything, then surround Cena. And he has this wonderful, wordless moment of "Well, guess I gotta fight all seven of you, then!" and tries to do it. He can't win but he tries anyway because he has to. THAT'S a hero. And appropriately, it takes all seven guys and all of their finishers to do it, and for the first time in a long time, a lot of us bought it because they bothered to make it look hard to be that tough. That seems to be the common thread among choices: any time he looks like he has to work for it, it feels earned. It's Hogan's secret: if you make it seem like you're worried you might lose, the fans will be worried you might lose, too, and even more of them will be happy if you win. Remember when the crowd actually chanted Never Give Up when he was forced to join Nexus. Jesus Christ. They had something there they could have milked the angle. It shoukd have finished with Cena destroying Wade but to get there it needed a much better build.

I know most people weren't fans of the guy, Alex Riley. I think their Cage match was the night Miz accidentally tagged some other guy named "John" on Twitter when Miz actually meant Cena.

It's Hogan's secret: if you make it seem like you're worried you might lose, the fans will be worried you might lose, too, and even more of them will be happy if you win. Totally agreed. And you’re right about Hogan. What you described is the main difference between Hogan in WWF and Hogan in WCW. Hogan in WWF was confident, but sold that he had his doubts. WCW Hogan no sold everything and didn’t seem the least bit bothered to step into a cage outnumbered 10-2. It ruined the character. As for the topic at hand, definitely the win over Brock in 2012. He had just lost to The Rock and then Brock trashed him for the whole match. I’m not really a Cena fan, but I was actually getting pissed watching it. Like how could Cena have agreed to let them treat him like garbage who can’t hang with the REAL stars. Then he made his comeback and I marked out.

Kinda controversial but I loved when he beat Brock in that first match back. Dude got beat up and tortured but Brock underestimated Cena’s old ability to fight dirty. They got Chicago, freaking Chicago to cheer Cena on that night. Brock was such a great monster in the match, just constantly beating the shit out of Cena to the point, where fans took Cena's side. It was great booking, show Brock as an unstoppable monster that didn't care about anybody, and who would prolong the pain, and the fans start to get behind the guy going against the monster. And Cena won because of pure desperation. Remember when the crowd actually chanted Never Give Up when he was forced to join Nexus. Jesus Christ. They had something there they could have milked the angle. It shoukd have finished with Cena destroying Wade but to get there it needed a much better build. Imagine if after that Raw he was fired, we never saw him till the Rumble. They don't do the New Nexus nonsense, and have Wade still lead Nexus where they're destroying everybody, and Cena's music hits, and he's the next entrant.

His suprise rumble return. The comedy Xmas match against Del Rio, I approve of no selling if it's a teddy bear being thrown.
