I rewatched the entire Night Court run when it was on Encore Channel. It held up pretty well once they found the right cast with Mac, Christine and Roz. Only the last season felt really off.
This reboot has Harry's daughter Abby as the new judge over the night court. Her mom's gotta be Christine.

I loved watching this show back in the day, especially the characters like Bull and Dan, but I'm not sure if they can pull it off.

I never even watched Night Court, was it any good? Definitely a time of the 80's but I thought it was entertaining enough John Larroquette is f***ing hilarious though in it. I don't know how they could reboot it though.

Feels tricky to recapture Harry Anderson's charm and the show was a product of its time, so I'm skeptical.

I never even watched Night Court, was it any good? I recall none of it. I think the Judge did magic? As a kid I remember thinking Bull was hilarious. That’s all I recall.

As long as they bring the theme song back.
What made the show so great when I watched as a kid is the the reruns aired late. So the character's disposition made sense if court would happen at 1am.

I'm guessing this will have about as much of an impact as the Murphy Brown revival.

That's a show that went through several different casting changes to get the right chemistry. Two of the bailiffs died and the "love interest" public defender changed until Marsha Warfield and Markie Post arrived. I remember the first seasons having a little more drama/serious tone with comedy to break it up. It was pretty funny if slightly weird for an 80s sitcom. The court setting allowed for a lot of wacky characters to set up quick jokes and gags. I'm guessing this will have about as much of an impact as the Murphy Brown revival. Crap, you want to talk about a show that disappeared from the public conscious it would be Murphy Brown. It was highly praised in it's time and stirred some controversy as well... yet it's not as fondly remembered as say a Roseanne or Married with Children. If I had to take a guess it's because the political humor of the time might feel dated compared to a Roseanne or Married with Children. As for the revival, I'm not sure Murphy Brown works in a hyperpartisan era today or people just didn't want political humor outside the late night talk shows.

I'll give it a chance. Dan Felding is coming back. But seeing stuff that Bull won't be back. Seems him and some of the cast didn't get along.
Last I checked Laff,an over the air channel, shows Night Court 5 days a week. Monday thru Friday,at like 8am central time.
As I kid I loved it and Bull was my favorite. But as I got older I realized Dan was the best part of the show.

IIRC, the show was backed on Harry Anderson's appearances on Cheers. Basically, if Night Court failed, Harry the Hat would have been added to the main cast of Cheers. I'm kinda curious to see how these things correlate.

The way some these reboots/revivals/rewhatevers are going, if they don't add the creative folks behind the scenes to the new show it may not work at all - even if everything (well, not Harry ) on screen is the same. But even then, it's a mixed bag. Larroquette being part (hell, he's spearheading this as a producer, along with Bernadette from Big Bang Theory it seems? oh gosh, would she play Harry's daughter?) is a good thing. The fact that Harry is gone is not a good thing. Mixed feelings about this one. If they can't (literally) capture the magic off the bat here, wrap it up and call it a day. Dragging it on may not be worth it at all.

I gotta ask: Who exactly was asking for this? Well, I'm sure people were asking here & there before Harry Anderson died. Since then, no one. Not a one.

If Warfield is back, hard no. She was rude when we saw her at a comedy show, and after. Long story, and borderline gets into FAN-disallowed topics.
