Reviews coming in 64% on RT Definite drop from Bumblebee, but if it holds it would be a solid number two for the franchise. It's at 58% now. Still #2 for the franchise, but it's a toss-up whether it'll end up being higher or lower than the first movie's 57%.

Back from the movie {Spoiler}{Spoiler}With a plot lifted from a thousand Playstation games, the film crams a lot into it's run time, a lot of characters that are set up early are dropped in favouro of moving Noah from A to B in very short order. The only reason his brother's illness is even a thing is for a pay-off at the very nd when the Joes promise to take care of his health issues, but even that didn't seem neccersary.
I thought Airrazor might have been revived like Bee was with the Energon Jesus Juice, but nope. Guess that makes yet another Transformers franchise that just does away with her. She was killed while in her Tigerhawk form back in Beast Wars as well.
The Maximals got short-changed. Primal I don't think had much of an arc, him cooperating with humans does more to serve Prime's story. Prime and Noah's parallel journeys complimented the other, I liked that Noah had an ulterior motive to help the Autobots, planning to betray them and destroy the transwarp key...but I wish his change of heart didn't have to involve Prime pleading with him not to take action.
I still think they should have kept Unicron out of the trailers, it sets fans up for disappointment in that you never see his alt mode, and his VA is no Orson Wells and comes off as too basic in performance. I did like it when he 'tortured' Scoruge though, reminded me of the animated movie.
Bee samples some of Leonard Nimoy for one line, and Roddy Piper for another.
Mirage merging with Noah had me a little perplexed, then I remembered mass shifting and was glad someone remembered it also.
The Terrorcons were too undercooked, Scourge might as well have been the only one there, he's also the only one who gets to inflict major damage on both Autobot and Maximal

I hear {Spoiler}the set up for a sequel/Hasbro Cinematic Universe is quite funny in how blatant it is.

So just got back from the theaters, here's my take for those interested - {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Basically it starts rough, gets better as it goes, and then kinda devolves into a Bay-esque overly complicated CGI splooge final action scene.
The biggest problem with the movie in my opinion was the main human character, Noah. They tried to make him into something worthwhile, they really really tried, but it just didn't work. In the end he just felt like he was checking the same cliched boxes that Shia LeBeouf and Mark Wahlberg did. Dominique Fishback's Elena character was honestly much more interesting and they really should have made her the human lead.
A bigger problem with Noah was that they were trying to replicate the Charlie/Bee dynamic from Bumblebee with him and Mirage and the chemistry just was not there. Wasn't helped by how obnoxious Mirage got at times. And Noah fighting off Terrorcons while wearing his "Mirage Armor" looked really stupid. And speaking of Mirage, how many innocent police officers did he kill in that car chase at the beginning?
There was nothing happening in the story that necessitated the 90's setting. I mean, technically there was nothing about Bumblebee that necessitated the 80's setting, but in the end it felt like an 80's movie. Other then an OG Game Boy and some songs on the soundtrack (and the requisite Twin Towers cameo) there was nothing about this that felt 90's in the slightest.
The humor felt very Michael Bay-esque - obnoxious and borderline offensive, although they kept the actual potty humor to a minimum. The action scenes also had Bay's fingerprints all over them, with there feeling like a lot of unnecessary explosion porn happening, especially early in the movie.
As for the good, while there were way too many characters (did Rhinox even get a line?), the characters that did get a spotlight were distinct and identifiable. No indistinguishable robots bashing each other, you knew who everybody was and what side they were on. I especially liked Optimus Prime's character arc. He starts the movie very much in the vein of Bay's "Give Me Your Face" Optimus that let Chicago burn to teach the humans a lesson, and over the course of the movie evolves into the more noble and compassionate Optimus we all grew up with. Let's see if that holds if there's a sequel. I also liked the depiction of the Maximals, who were presented as an important part of the Transformers mythos, and not just a side project that's grown a cult following.
The plot was, over-all, simple and straight-forward and moved at a good pace, and there was no pointless sexualization to any of the characters.
With a couple of minor changes this could've been a much better movie, but for what it was it was a fun watch over-all. TL;DR;Non-Spoiler - not as good as I hoped, but better then I expected.

I hear {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}the set up for a sequel/Hasbro Cinematic Universe is quite funny in how blatant it is. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Primus I hate this. IDW's Transformers comics went downhill once they started shoving G.I. Joe, Mask, Rom, fricking Visionaries and whatever else into them.
Hell, the only Transformers/Joe crossover I liked was the episode with "Old Snake". Probably because Old Snake was the only one in it. The rest were so lame.

This franchise means nothing to me. I watched the cartoon a little bit as a kid. I saw the first four bay films in theaters. Movies were pretty terrible but it was something to do. I always thought there was too much going on, the humans were annoying, and the good robots made something decisions.
I really enjoyed Bumblebee and enjoy giant robots punching each other. (When you can actually make out what’s going on… I’ve always joked the first film looks like scrambled WWF ppvs trying to figure out what’s happening)
As for this one the movie was fine. Some of the robots looked like animals which was neat.. The humans weren’t that annoying. I got to see some robots punch each other fighting over a mcguffin. I’d watch another one these even more so with the ridiculous twist at the end.,

This movie was alright I guess.
IMO it should have been just a Beast Wars movie because anything interesting in it is only when the Maximals are present.

A thought: {Spoiler}Film coulda used some of the Predacons to round out Scourge's gang. Probably not T-Rex Megatron, but some of the other ones.

My girlfriend wants to see this tomorrow.
I've seen three Transformers movies and thought them long-winded, boring, too much human nonsense, full of shit meaningless CGI and obvious annoying product placement. The last one I bothered watching featured a scene where a guy is sat in a sports car on a sort of overlook, putting some fancy expensive sunglasses on and an explosion occured in the distance. It was literally a 20 second advert for sunglasses and a sports car shoehorned in.
I hope this one is good and I wont be too bored.

I went to see it, and actually enjoyed it.
Much more enjoyable than the others I've seen, and the humans were actually interesting for a change.

Funny, cos I had the exact opposite reaction : I felt this one was flat, humans were bland, and although Bayhem tends to be tiring in long stretches, I still feel it's preferable to having no personnality whatsoever, like this one.

The little kid was an obnoxious twerp, but he wasn't in it for long. Mirage was great--I enjoyed him a lot.

Thoroughly enjoyed it.
I liked the smaller dosage of Bayhem, and the chase scenes were done well.
The humans weren't annoying. There were more robots onscreen doing meaningful things than any other live-action Transformers film.
Hope to see a sequel.
