I mean...I get that vaccination is an important part of the response to all this _but_, given that WWE has not exactly been on the forefront of preventing the spread of COVID-19 (especially since they're based in FL), doesn't this seem a little tone-deaf, or at least significantly behind the curve?
Full disclosure: I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. Population: 975,000. Total cases to date: 1718. Total deaths: 66.
Maybe I'm old; maybe I live where the economy has never been particularly boisterous (though the real estate and rental markets would suggest otherwise at the moment.) But it feels as though any push to "get back to normal" by any company is seen as self-serving and, quite possibly, paternalistic.

this is a company who once had a promo for a Saudi Arabia show and followed it up with promo video for Total Divas at Pride, don't think they know the meaning of tone deaf

I mean, yes and no. They absolutely should be doing this but I wish they had done more to acknowledge the pandemic over the past year and had better policies. But you can't undo that so at least they're taking a step in the right direction.

Tone deaf, I guess for us who really follow the in and outs of NXT, but for casuals eh. They don't deserve any credit, but better late than never.
so for me as a big NXT fan and knowing the situations that have happened I'll vote yes, but still again atleast they're do something to help.

For better or worse, I'm kind of at the point where anybody saying to wear a mask and get vaccinated right now is helping the cause. I don't care if it's tone deaf or not.

Yup, more hypocritical than tone deaf, when you know what's actually doing on. How many anti-drug messages did they do in the 80s and 90s?

WWE would do a PSA in favor of cancer if they thought it could benefit them in any way. They've always been tone deaf hypocrites.

I don’t know what everyone wants from these guys.
I didn’t need them, like every other show on tv this year, to bring up the corona situation in the body of their storylines.
Also, apparently people don’t watch the bumper commercials, because they’ve had little bumpers about corona relief and essential workers all year during raw, Smackdown and nxt

I appreciate the thought, but keeping folks like Drake Wuertz or Road Dogg around (who believe in the idea that COVID's a hoax) is a mixed message situation.

Not to ramble too far off-topic, but I remember randomly coming across an image of a WWF "Say No to Drugs" ad featuring... Jake Roberts. It nearly broke me.

I don’t know about time deaf. They put policies in place at the start, but ultimately it’s the people they employed who weren’t following the rules. Yes there should have been stricter consequences for people not following the rules, but they’re hardly anti maskers.
I think this is fine and as said above, anyone doing anything at this point in time is only helping the cause.

They are probably hoping someone in main stream media sees this and commends them. If they cared about the health and safety of anyone it's because the fans and the wrestlers are a dollar sign and if the wrestlers can't perform or the fan is too ill to buy the merchandise it hurts their bottom line.
Stephanie McMahon is a woman who compared the 9/11 attacks to the government bringing charges against her father during the steroid scandal and Vince is a guy who thinks sneezing is a sign of weakness and told an employee "If you can be sick at home, you can be sick at work." That was JJ Dillon he said that to when JJ called out sick one day. They don't exactly see things the way a normal human being does. They both probably take it as a personal slight that this coronavirus has prevented them from doing business as usual.

Well, it IS tone deaf, but it could be worse. They could have had Kacy, Kross, and Fish doing the PSA...

I couldn't care less how cynically motivated it is as long as they're doing the right thing.

I said about Vince's recent change of heart about COVID that it's the embodiment of "better late than never." Like, I'm glad they're finally taking it seriously after all these months, but I'm not going to praise them for doing it either since, well, it should've happened months ago.
I wouldn't really call this tone-deaf, since there's nothing inherently tone-deaf about the PSA itself. But there is some irony in having the NXT wrestlers do this given the Performance Center's infamy in having multiple outbreaks due to ignoring protocols.

Given the way some are actively discouraging getting vaccinated, it's the right thing to do to encourage people to do it despite the way the company as a whole has downplayed the risks of the pandemic.

It's the right thing to do so don't really care about tone deaf or not
People aren't going to know the inside BS but something public like this, they will see and follow along so it is the right message to promote
