So if/ when he comes back, how will the crowd react with his latest controversy. I hope the crowd warms up to him by then

I think history will remember John Cena as worse than Nixon

Same as ever. Initial pop. Then boos. Then “Let’s go Cena / Cena Sucks”
No matter what the fans ACTUALLY think of John Cena or what happens with him, the reaction is just ingrained at this point.

At this point, no matter what they think of him I take it for granted any wrestling crowd will do the "LET'S GO CENA/CENA SUCKS" dueling chants. They're what everyone expects and associates with him, like heckling Kurt Angle.

I don't know if the live WWE crowds are as up on geopolitics as we might think regarding his latest controversy.

Do people really care about this stuff? I don't care about Tawain or China or whatever line Cena has to tow. If people really come to a live WWE show to boo Cena over some international nonsense that isn't related to WWE.
Please stay home.

This. Most wrestling fans don't give a damn about what happens outside the wrestling bubble related to these people. They don't have any idea and even if they did look at these wrestlers they support who have done similar things if not worse. He's gonna get that reaction until he dies.

Yeah, Let's go Cena/Cena Sucks became just what you do during Cena matches at some point... as most people are saying both.

Just speaking for myself, I didn't agree with Cena's apology, but I'm more worried about the fact that WWE literally has a ton of talent they put on TV each week who are wrapped up in a cult that tries to destroy peoples lives if they refuse to support their political agenda or favorite ex-President by baselessly accusing them of smuggling children and drinking blood.

It was eye-rolling, but predictable given the amount of pressure put on people in this position. Dollars to donuts, he had people blowing up his phone telling him that "everyone in the production's jobs are riding on this" and guilt tripping him.

If he comes back within the first few months of live crowds returning his reaction will be nuclear, much like everyone else’s will be
After the sheen of live events wears off it’ll probably still be a nuclear pop at first, then it depends on what he’s doing (defying the odds or just making people look as dumb as they are), how he’s doing it (SuperCena or SmarkCena) and who he’s doing it against
No one is going to care about the apology thing

The average person doesn't know what Taiwan is and at least 50% of WWE fans are probably unable to point to the PRC on a map. No one will care about a very minor celebrity controversy, even if they perhaps ought to.

Cena coming out as a surprise during the first month of so of live shows would easily be a Top 5 Pop for the last decade. Probably one of the only possible "pops" the WWE still has in their back pocket that could even remotely be compared to a monster pop from the Austin days.

he's still going to get "Cena Sucks" chants but it'll be purely for nostalgia reasons. by the time he left, the Cena hate had basically diminished to almost nothing.

What's the controversy? I haven't heard anything.
Pops are gonna be superiore, I bet.

That Fast And Furious Noobie Cena is no Bad Bunny or Ronda Rousey in terms of fame level,I doubt his pop will be that big.

I know about Wuertz, but what ton of talent on TV are you referring to?

I don't think anyone's going to care and people will cheer him just as strongly. He was put in a bad situation where he had to follow the movie studio's lead. He's a big star but he doesn't have f*** you" power in Hollywood, especially when it comes to a franchise that makes most of its money in China.

Cena will be fine as far as reactions. China is a huge market and actors and studios are going to play nice with them in order to maintain the profits that they provide. It’s not up to John Cena to make a political stand for the independence of Taiwan and no one should expect him to do so.
