"Alllllllll..... let's have sex!" "Uh, no Peg." *audience cheering* /Al flushes an inexplicable toilet next to the couch/ *audience cheering intensifies* It would have been funnier if that was based off of a real episode, or put in a subsequent episode after that Simpsons episode. I liked this show when I was younger and I still can enjoy it despite certain things not flying in today's world. Since I was a little kid when this was on, certain things were rather inappropriate and flew over my heads. Although I will admit that seeing Christina Applegate in those outfits as well as casting Playboy Playmates in some episode made things awkward (in a good way) for me as a young boy.

I will say this: Ed O'Neill is a versatile actor. As I didn't even think of Al when I saw Jay Pritchett. Now, have we started on...the wrestling episodes?

Love how it was established in one episode that there is one thing that really turns Al on and would even entice him to have sexual intercourse with Peg...seeing Peggy working. Yet considering Peg's attitude about working makes it clear why their sexual intercourses only happen once in a blue moon. That one particular episode (the barbecue one, I assume) and that whole sequence is extremely uncomfortable within modern context because she doesn’t give consent. They could NOT get away with that now. Watched that scene again and you are definitely correct. Watched the barbecue one a long while ago and thought it was more innocent in context. But seeing it again now...yeah, definitely giving a bit of marital rape vibes, that scene.

I mean how many times did she kinda "force" her way onto Al with him saying 'No' or complaining or even crying bout the sex happening

One of my favorite recurring gags is that, any time Al is thrown or falls from a roof, etc, an astonishingly unconvincing dummy is used. It makes it much funnier than it would be, otherwise, and is enough to make me wonder if they willingly chose to use such bad dummies, as opposed to the Fugitive, which used a very expensive dummy, only for it to look hilarious in action and not much more realistic. They kinda made a whole episode out of that gag, with Al and his friends installing a dish and they’re all kept constantly falling off the roof. Even the wives made a whole betting game out of it 😂

This must’ve been before the running gag of them having LITERALLY no food really kicked in. They had food, as the Dinner With Anthrax episode shows. You just have to dig through about 6-8 inches of frost in the freezer to get it.

Still my second favorite tv show of all time in back of cheers.
If I’m ever off work and have no plans, I’ll go to Hulu, start on season 7, and order Pizza Hut and spend the day eating stuffed crust bacon with watching the show

Big MWC fan growing up. I started watching it WAY too early as I didn't understand a lot of the jokes as an elementary school kid, but still thought it was hysterical. I wasn't a fan of the later seasons (especially the last one), and thought Jefferson was a downgrade on Steve, but I seem to be in the minority on the latter. The Jefferson era is more of the raunchy, "audience screams after every sentence" era of the show, while I thought the writing and audience was a lot better during the Steve years and single-Marcy phase.
But I agree about Al falling off the roof. I laughed every time it happened. Still do.

That’s honestly my favorite part of the show. I still almost shit myself laughing whenever they do that. The satellite episode. The f***ing satellite episode just kills me every time I watch it. I don’t know if there’s 22 minutes ever I laugh as uncontrollably hard as that Might put it on now…..

The "We want Psycho Dad" episodes are the best IMO. As pertinent today as in 1995

One of my favorite episodes, the family goes to the movies for Kelly's bday, which Kelly blows off a date to go with them. Only for said date (a young David Boreanaz) to show up at said theater with another date. Which leads Kelly to ask for a quick favor!
