As far as Taker and HBK go, I’ve only ever seen their two Mania matches once each. As they happened. I doubt I’ll ever watch them again. It’ll just ruin the feeling of those matches for me. You didn’t know at the time, now I do. To show them to someone, they’d never understand. They didn’t have the 20 years or so invested in these characters to care.
As amazing as they are, I think they just exist in that moment. For me anyway.
So, to not totally hijack this thread, one of my favorite matches is 4 Doinks v. Bam Bam, Booger and the Headshrinkers. It’s highly amusing to me. Still. All these years later.

For me, it's Kurt Angle vs Undertaker, No Way Out 2006. I saw that live at Buffalo Wild Wings, and it capped off a nearly perfect PPV.
Up to that point I was only able to watch Raw, and seeing Undertaker actually wrestle, and against Kurt Angle, was so incredible to watch. I was completely invested in the match and went on all the emotional ups and downs.

It's always listed in the great matches but I don't think I have ever heard someone say its their all time favourite or greatest match.
But my favourite match of all time is Bret Hart vs Owen Hart at Wrestlemania X.
Another match I think is absolutely awesome but people never talk about is Tatanka vs Shawn Michaels that opened Wrestlemania 9.

My personal greatest/favorite match ever is Austin/Hart at WM 13 which is obviously not an unusual choice. I do love seeing their Survivor Series match get some love in this thread because that match is absolutely amazing.
But here's some matches that I think don't get enough credit that are some of my favorites:
Austin vs Taker at Cold Day In Hell 1997. People always talk about Austin and Taker not having good chemistry, and I have to agree, but this match is the exception. The in ring work is solid, it puts over the rising star Steve Austin because he pretty much had the thing won with the Stunner before Pillman got involved. Plus it's very fun with all of the Hart shenanigans and the post-match brawl.
Yet another 1997 match(my favorite WWF year) I think the first Hell in a Cell with Taker and HBK blows away their Wrestlemania matches and it kinda used to make me a bit sad that it gets a bit overshadowed by the WM 25 match.
Speaking of Hell in a Cell and the Attitude era, the first blood with Austin vs Kane in hugely underrated in my opinion. Obviously it will always be overshadowed by Taker vs Mankind from the same night for good reason, but Austin and Kane had a really fun match.
The Rock and HHH had an amazing cage match on Raw in the summer of 1999 that never gets talked about. It's very fun and has a great interference by Chyna, and just really enjoyable heel work by HHH. It was on Rock's 2008 DVD set, that's the only reason I'm aware of this match.
Also, for those who might know, was this the first ever cage match with the chain link instead of the steel bars?
These days it mostly seems to get talked about because of Brock dropping himself headfirst, but let's not forget how absolutely awesome his WM 19 match with Kurt was.

Idk if it's unusual but my favorite American match remains Cena vs. Punk.
Nah, not at MITB.
At that Raw in Dallas. What a rollercoaster that match took me on. From not giving a f*** at all to jumping out of my seat

I absolutely loathe all the shooter shit that Taker puts into his gimmick, I know he is literally a zombie mortician who can summon lightning bolts but for some reason his MMA shit just grates on me. But that one match with Angle, I had never watched it until one of the 'best match' polls for wrestlers that someone did on here, and this was high in the list. It f***ing rules. I didn't realise these two could have that level of chemistry. Idk if it's unusual but my favorite American match remains Cena vs. Punk. Nah, not at MITB. At that Raw in Dallas. What a rollercoaster that match took me on. From not giving a f*** at all to jumping out of my seat I tried multiple times to look that up on the WWE Network and never thought to try and find it on match listings online, someone even told me on here when it was and I forgot what thread they told me in - I never saw it again before I cancelled my subscription. That match is just unnecessarily good. I got so incredibly hyped for a piledriver in that match - and some people still say Cena can't work??

I’m not sure I would put it as my favourite match ever but I love the 6 man Hell In A Cell from Armageddon 2000. It’s purely a nostalgia goggles thing but that match was the absolute height of that era for me as 16 year old me couldn’t fathom 6 guys being in Hell In A Cell.
And 5 of the greatest of all time in this match…and HHH! I kid Rikishi sticks out like a sore thumb but at least he got to take the big bump of the night.

I think we all know the obvious choice...Sharmell vs Jenna Morasco All jokes aside, Rebel vs. Shelly Martinez is the "The Room" of wrestling matches for me. Like, I know it's bad, but it's so shameless in how bad it is that it crosses this line into absurdist humor territory and I genuinely find it entertaining.

Not the best match ever but I loved Brets matches with the likes of Hakushi, Jean Pierre Lafitte, The Patriot and Kwang.
It was just great to see him go up against a variety of different characters and pull out great TV matches from them.

From not giving a f*** at all to jumping out of my seat Is that the one before Mania 29? Because I remember being very down on wrestling at the time and having no interest whatsoever in WrestleMania. But then I saw the match on YouTube and got so invested lol That match actually got me back to be a wrestling fan.

I remember everyone in the live thread losing their shit when Punk hit Cena with a piledriver.

From not giving a f*** at all to jumping out of my seat That one is easily in my top ten. My favorite American match is maybe Ric Flair vs. Randy Savage at WrestleMania 8. Just a perfect blend of workrate and emotion. There’s literally no dead spots, everyone plays their part perfectly. The two are wrestling crisp but it feels like the characters really want to hurt each other. For predominantly Japanese wrestling, Mitsuharu Misawa's 1990 match against Jumbo Tsuruta is incredible. Tsuruta just gets more desperate to put down this young upstart that shouldn't be doing so well against him. The hype's real there.

I'm guessing you mean the 9/1/90 rematch (since there were two in quick succession in 1990), from the description? If so, I would big time agree, and if not, I want to extol the virtues of that rematch, which I suspect a lot of American fans miss since it didn't get the Coveted Meltzer Five Stars despite holding up way better than their first match. Jumbo's storytelling is insanely good in that match, just the absolute best-ever portrayal of a veteran top star who stubbornly refuses to be usurped by the new hotness even as he sees how inevitable that is. And Misawa is 90's Misawa, so as long as his opponent is building a story around him, it's an all time classic.

I do love that September match and really the whole feud is good, but it was the one Misawa won via cradle.

Mankind v Rock v Shamrock in a triple threat cage match for no 1 contendership at Breakdown 1998. Three good promos showing the differences in characters, maybe the last time we saw the blue bars? Good finish, first time you hear significant face pops for The Rock IIRC. Decent PPV tbf (Owen v Edge and Bradshaw v Vader in two fun matches where the styles of the wrestlers fit together like a glove) its not fondly remembered because the crowd was dead for most of it and the end of the main event was inconclusive to the Austin v Taker v Kane or with Kane feud that was entering its 58th year at that point.

Two come to mind:
RVD & Sabu vs. Hayabusa & Shinzaki from Heatwave 98. I was just getting into ECW at the time so I was a huge RVD mark, and also had a friend who was just getting into tape trading so we had been watching a lot of FMW. This was a dream match and I loved it.
Kyle O'Reilly vs. Adam Cole, hybrid rules (ROH). I'm a bit biased bc I was there live, but I've never seen a match go from getting shit on to overwhelming praise like that.
Maybe not the greatest matches ever, but 2 of my favorites.

Hogan vs Andre at Wrestlemania 3 isn't my favorite, but it's close, and I mean the match not the spectacle.

Another one is when Austin and HBK won the tag titles from Owen Hart and Bulldog. Not only was it an excellent match, I was there live for it.
