Original NES Wrestlemania - Amazing music, the best music of any wrestling game the console would ever have.Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth - As amazing as your CAWs looked, there was an absolute ceiling for how strong you could make them, so inevitably they would all become jobbers when integrated into your season mode. There's a reason for that: it was composed by David Wise, notably the composer of Donkey Kong Country's soundtrack, but was also a master of getting a whole lot out of the NES sound chip. Notable works of his on the NES include Battletoads, Iron Sword: Wizards and Warriors 2, Snake Rattle n' Roll, and R.C. Pro Am.

Fire Pro Wrestling Word: Maybe it’s just me, but downloading CAWS is so tedious and time consuming. At least with Returns, we could just download individual CAWs off the gamesaves and not worry about them being unusable later after subscribing because of not having the moves and parts DLC purchased. I hope if there is a sequel to World that it addresses some of the criticisms that have been mentioned in the thread.

WWF Betrayal: The idea of a beat em up game involving saving Stephanie McMahon on the GBC is funny I will defend forever that that game is better than people give it credit for. I seem to be the only person who likes it for some reason.

Smackdown vs. Raw 08 had some of the best weapon use, including being able to use a chair-assisted springboard moonsault.

Fire Pro Wrestling Returns.
Great game but a f***ing nightmare to play.

I always loved Showdown Legends of Wrestling for their accurate arenas. It may not seem like much, but playing Legends of Wrestlemania with one size fits all arenas really made a difference in the experience.

It may not seem like much, but playing Legends of Wrestlemania with one size fits all arenas really made a difference in the experience. Honestly the Legends of Wrestling games as a whole get a little bit more of a bad rap than they deserve, in my opinion. The gameplay isn't the best, but honestly I played so much Warzone and Attitude that, at the time, I was still pretty used to it. Also, LoW2 introduced the ability to chain certain moves together, which was a really cool feature that I don't think had been in any other game to date at that point. Also, this was before WWE started including all kinds of legends, so the rosters for those three LoW games were just completely fantastic and worth the price of admission alone. Admittedly, I have very little experience with Showdown, I only played it once or twice, but I wanna fix that at some point. The career mode for LoW2 was so cool though. Traveling through the various territories and doing territory shit ruled.

SvR07: The roster was in some respects weak, and I hate how difficult it is to use CAWs in GM mode without getting your shit kicked in by the other brand, due to the small default fame. Jake being locked behind a PSP exclusive was bullshit, too.
The original Smackdown was really primitive compared to 2, and definitely a lesser game than the N64 classics, but I still find it immensely playable.

Also, as far as I'm aware, it was the first wrestling game where long hair actually visibly moved. Granted, it behaved largely like a cape, but it was still really impressive to me at the time. Also, just having a more arcade style wrestling game done right for the first time since Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game was nice. I know that's largely what Nitro and Thunder were going for as well, but...y'know.

I like the variety in roster of WCW Mayhem, which featured not only the obvious guys but lower card guys like Lizmark Jr and Bobby Blaze.

Honestly I still think it's such a bummer that they did Backstage Assault after Mayhem instead of trying to iterate on Mayhem. I think the bones of a really good game were there. It's fun but a little basic. Animations were solid but needed work. Something...different needed to happen with the default pose of every wrestler (what on earth were they doing with their arms?), but like...it wasn't bad! Granted, I'm also sad that WCW folded before we could get the AKI-developed Mayhem 2. But that did give us Def Jam Vendetta, so y'know, silver linings.

Shut Your Mouth is definitely NOT a bad game, and is in fact arguably the first great Smackdown game, depending on how someone feels about Smackdown 2. Anyway, it is often in Here Comes the Pain's shadow. I actually in some ways like it more. The backstage/out of the arena fights are funnier, Booker T maybe never looked better in any game, and the "Hogan vs Flair" youtube series shows a lot of the ridiculous antics you can get up to in the game. A real favorite.
All that being said, bad part of the good game time: Kurt's attire ring gear was awful, and HBK was in an awkward phase in terms of his own appearance. You get the nWo look or I think just having him in jeans as a costume, but you don't get him in actual gear.

You get to insult Maven's eyebrows and make him sad. But yeah that is one of Angle's absolute worst attires. It's just so lame and bland. Also, I could've sworn that Shawn's brown tights were in the game, but I just looked it up and I am apparently mistaken.

Yeah, this was before that, I think, by the time they finalized his appearance, same reason HBK has the awkward hair length.

Also HCTP was a good game but it did have some flaws like having to play through season mode with every CAW to give them points and such is frustrating as hell. Also I hated that all the legends had the WM3 cart entrances. Plus there isn't any ring announcer for some baffling reason

As basic and clunky as they are, I can still have a lot of fun just picking up and playing Warzone or Attitude. Attitude in particular has a roster that's a hell of a lot of fun, with a great mix of notable names and totally what-the-hell ones. Also it's surprisingly customizable for the time and Crimson Grin is a bop.
As much fun as Here Comes the Pain is to play and as replayable as its story mode is, the balance of it in terms of how popularity is skewed is completely f***ed and it's basically impossible after one or two seasons to not end up with both shows having like two possible title contenders at most. Also the backstage interactions largely suck and way too many of them penalize you for no real reason.

One thing that bothered me with SYM (which I had fun with otherwise): What was with the Hardys, Tajiri, and Orton having modified versions of their themes?
