I don't want to speculate, But something clearly must be going on that's preventing him from competing

I heard people were saying, he just hasn't been the same since the Brodie Lee passing.
If Bray just works the big 4, Rumble, Mania, Slam and Series. I am okay with that. He really doesn't need to be a full time character anymore.

Brodie Lee's death supposedly hit him quite hard.
That said, it does seem unusually long for anyone outside immediate family to have it impact someone professionally like this has, if it was the only reason Bray's been away.
His divorce was not particularly amicable, so one might speculate on possible ongoing issues. It could be long COVID; it could be any number of things.
I do think it'd be better at this stage to reboot Bray as a gimmick. The longer the Fiend is away, the less credible or entertaining it is. Already, Alexa's losing her hold on audiences with the mojo thing. If he's not back by Summerslam, it might be time to put an end to Bray Wyatt as a character for good. Windham Rotunda can think of something else.

I think it's Brodie's death. His social media post after Brodie's passing said that he was hurting.
Since then he's only wrestled the Orton match at Mania.

I’m not wishing that on him, but if the loss of his best friend hit him that hard he may never get his enthusiasm for performing back. Could easily land a gig as a trainer or in some backstage capacity.

Yeah, I've been concerned. Other whispers on Twitter make it sound pretty serious. I hope whatever he does next, he finds some contentment. He has been through a fair amount since that car accident a few years back.

He has been through a fair amount since that car accident a few years back. He's made some vague references on social media to ongoing mental health issues, and I'm guessing the last few years have only served to exacerbate them. He's a crazy smart and creative dude, so whether he comes back or not, I can only wish him the best in however things turn out.

I hope that whatever the problem is, it resolves itself and Bray can be in a happier/healthier place.

I was watching stuff about Chris Benoit again. And the part about how he really started the downward path after Eddie's death is sticking with me. I hope we don't see a repeat of that in any shape.

Even if Florida had relaxed restrictions I'm the last year plus Bray has been in lockdown, seen his dad and brother released/furloughed, still dealt with ramifications from his divorce, and saw his best friend pass away. Grief and stress can hit people differently at different times. Dude probably needed to get away from WwE for a bit

Grief is a motherf***er. You can be feeling fine and all of a sudden it’ll hit you. And the pain will be as fresh as the day it happened. It’s a weight. You can feel it dragging you down. And it never fully goes away. And in a weird way, you wouldn’t want it to. Because that loss is real. And fully getting over it is just too close to forgetting.

But knowing what grief can do to people, I hope this story doesn't have any kind of sad end is what I meant.

His booking has been questionable at times, but overall, I've been a fan of his. Such a unique character and a creative guy. I'd love to see him back in some form, but I just hope he does what's best for him.
If he eventually gets out of his WWE contract, how would we feel about him becoming a new leader of Dark Order, even as a face?

If it is a mental health thing I do wonder what on earth WWE was thinking deciding in the midst of it was a good time to fire his brother.

I think it’s slightly different because, by all accounts, he was doing his whole thing the entire time with the business he runs so it might not have factored in but I get what you mean.

Well not necessarily an exact duplicate of the Benoit tragedy. But knowing what grief can do to people, I hope this story doesn't have any kind of sad end is what I meant. It probably helps that Bray hasn't been diving headfirst onto his opponents or taking unprotected chairshots for most of his career, leaving his brain the consistency of pudding. Like, I get where you're coming from, but making any kind of comparison between Benoit and Bray is a HUGE reach, and honestly, really morbid to even consider.

Benoit also had significant brain damage and a host of other issues. Eddie's passing was just the tipping point. Unless Bray has some severe CTE that we don't know about, I very strongly doubt this theory.

One thing made me think of the other, that's all. I'm not predicting what anyone's going to do, god willing. Maybe I should have left it at, "if it is grief/mental exhaustion, I hope it doesn't lead him to a dark place as it has many others." Okay, I'll escort myself out of this thread.
