I just came across this poster on twitter advertising a WWF show and I think it's one of the worst cards that i've ever seen for a major promotion. To think of all the star power in the WWF in 1988 and this is the lineup that some unfortunate souls got to witness. 😲 Anybody got any worse looking cards?

Sherri/Robin could be good. If you want really bad, look at some of the c-shows from 1986 (both from thehistoryofwwe.com):
WWF @ Exeter, NH - High School Gym - June 21, 1986 Lanny Poffo defeated Rene Goulet Paul Roma defeated Terry Gibbs David Sammartino defeated Les Thornton Velvet McIntyre defeated Penny Mitchell Cousin Luke defeated Iron Mike Sharpe George Steele defeated Bob Orton Jr. via disqualification after Orton threw a chair into the ring
WWF @ Anaheim, CA - Convention Center - June 30, 1986 (1,500) Jose Luis Rivera defeated Terry Gibbs Paul Roma defeated Rene Goulet Pedro Morales defeated Hercules via count-out WWF Women's Champion the Fabulous Moolah defeated Velvet McIntyre Cpl. Kirchner defeated Nikolai Volkoff in a bootcamp match Jimmy Jack & Dory Funk Jr. defeated Tony Atlas & SD Jones Tito Santana defeated Bob Orton Jr. Adrian Adonis defeated George Steele

To be fair, that is Tito headlining in New Mexico, which I am sure was on fire for him.

In the 1980s, the WWF was doing so many shows at one point they had a D touring group. The A group had Hogan headlining, the B group had the IC or Tag title, and the C group had any names and/or midcarders left. The D group though some of those cards were bleak. You were lucky to get two midcarders headlining and a lot of the card was filled out by local no name talent. We’ve talked about it on here before. Maybe someone can find some cards

The brand split made for some real rough PPV cards in 04/05. Looking through Wiki to refresh my memory, Armageddon 04 looks like a f***ing sad time.

WWF @ Palmetto, FL - Civic Center - May 20, 1994 The Bushwhackers defeated the Heavenly Bodies Koko B. Ware defeated the Genius Bastion Booger defeated the Cuban Assassin Duke Drose defeated Dave Heath Yokozuna defeated Typhoon (sub. for Earthquake)
When the second highest guy on the card is Koko, we got a problem

I can’t figure out if some of these cards are listed “opening match to main event” or “main event to opening match”?

Smackdown pay per views were generally a sad time from the moment Brock Lesnar left until whenever the end of the first brand split was, and that’s even when they brought Cena over from Raw to help the main events.

Looking around a bit No Mercy 2005 was also pretty damn dire. Animal, Heidenreich & Christy Hemme vs. MNM Bobby Lashley vs. Simon Dean Chris Benoit vs. Booker T vs. Christian vs. Orlando Jordan Mr. Kennedy vs. Hardcore Holly JBL vs. Rey Mysterio Randy Orton & Bob Orton vs. Undertaker Juventud vs. Nunzio Batista vs. Eddie Guerrero And for that matter Unforgiven before it - Ric Flair vs. Carlito Ashley Massaro & Trish Stratus vs. Torrie Wilson & Victoria Big Show vs. Snitsky Shelton Benjamin vs. Kerwin White Matt Hardy vs. Edge Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch vs. The Hurricane & Rosey Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Masters John Cena vs. Kurt Angle (which ended in a DQ)

That kinda reminds me of late-era WCW Saturday Night when it was purely used for squash matches and a means to try out new talent/gimmicks. Then, you'd get Virgil in the main event against like.... Jim Powers or something.

Great American Bash 2004 might have the record for most Velocity level matches on a single PPV card:

I remember sitting through that entire show when watching the DVD and feeling like those three matches were such a slog to sit through. If I put it on, I'll just put it on the title matches. I will note that I enjoy the main event for the wrong reasons, though, especially the ending.

Great American Bash 2004 might have the record for most Velocity level matches on a single PPV card: 9 matches, 4 of which sound like they're worth spending money to see, maybe 5 since it was Mordecai's debut, right? Okay, still 4. This would have been crummy even post- WWE Network launch, much less PPV, no wonder they stopped doing brand split PPVs.

Ware vs. Frenchie Martin is a main event in any arena.

A sure sign you're going "because it's the WWF". (To be fair, I like Velvet McIntyre and would be curious to see what Penny had left in the tank.) Obviously Tito vs. Cowboy Bob would be the best out of all of this.

Great American Bash 2004 might have the record for most Velocity level matches on a single PPV card: I don’t know why with a roster that thin you would want to book a four way dance. Heck if you made a Cena vs Dupree US title match and a Booker T vs RVD match and get rid of at least two of those shitty matches no one cares about, you vastly improved the PPV.
