Huh? There are financial reasons that some talent would rather be classified as independent contractors, with less restrictions than WWE has on them right now of course. As far as unionizing, there are undoubtedly pros and cons and whether it would be a benefit is usually very specific to an industry/workforce. I’ve worked with a lot of employers where bargaining unit employees decide to leave/disband the union. One such thing being if WWE had to give its wrestlers health insurance, they easily can be like "not our f***ing problem anymore if you get hurt, you figure it out yourself" instead of just paying for surgeries and whatnot themselves like they always do. Just being a total layman here. But, as a union, wouldn't they not accept any health insurance the company offered unless it covered the injuries they know they're more likely to incur, so they're still covered.

Interesting that suddenly NOW he cares about helping WWE Employees after his political ambitions tanked faster than an NXT Callup to the Main Roster...

So, if I’ve got this correct… The end goal if this thing gets overturned is that WWE either: A) Are forced to give their wrestlers employee benefits in order to maintain exclusivity of their service B) Are forced to give up talent exclusivity and make them truly independent contractors, opening up any and all current WWE wrestlers to be able to take bookings for other promotions while under a WWE contract The first one for sure, the second one probably not. I do believe the idea is not so much that they aren't independent cause they can't work other places, but the product of wwe is basically the wrestlers. Like in a bar the dj is typically an independent contractor because music is an offshoot of the business, however a bartender is an employee because serving drinks is the business.

Interesting that suddenly NOW he cares about helping WWE Employees after his political ambitions tanked faster than an NXT Callup to the Main Roster... That seems kind of harsh. He first brought it up when he was hoping for a position in the administration that directly dealt with this sort of thing. When that didnt happen he looked for another job, which would not leave him time for this. When that also fell through he had time again to go back to this issue. Its not his mission in life though, just something he seems to want to help with

Funnily enough, like anyone released from WWE going to the indies to show themselves off while waiting for the next big phonecall.

For me, the issue would be the ownership of any creative property that just _happened_ to have been by a WWE talent. "Work for hire" does not automatically go to the contractee if the contractor does a side gig or owns a side hustle. Were I, say, Big Money Salvia, they'd be clawing my NeonGrizzly.com website and designs from my cold, dead hands. I'll see myself out now. Nobbleberry forever! and if they go after that... Will likely step in, as allegedly their animators have the same thing written into their contracts where anything you draw is owned by the Disney Corporation. But...aren't Disney's animators employees of the company, rather than "independent contractors"? Because the difference with regards to "work for hire" can be huge. Employees can have that level of restriction on "side gigs", especially if they might be for competitors. Contractors are limited by what's outlined specifically in their contract. Now, I can see WWE being particularly grabby-grabby-piggy-piggy-piggy-f***-piggy-piggy on talent's side ventures and putting that into their contracts, but the question then becomes whether or not they can, as they did last year, simply lay down an edict restricting social-media use for non-WWE-related commercial ventures and expect it to hold up in court.

This reads like something you'd hear in one of those daytime TV ads. "...and do any of you have Mesothelioma?"

I'd definitely like to see someone take on WWE over their practices of stopping the side gig stuff, as long as the person is using their real name and not their character name - and how that impacts on the people who use their real name for things.
Because it's perfectly legal for a content owner to say 'you cannot trade on our IP to make independent money', but I genuinely want to see someone challenge the 'you cant make money under your own name while an independent contractor with us because we own your image' as that doesnt seem right to me at all and I'd be genuinely interested to see the legalities of that brought to light.

That's been his MO since the very beginning. The few views we actually do know of, are utterly reprehensible (he hates homeless people and also thinks bombing Palestine is good). I saw some people comparing Yang to Ryback and the comparison is pretty spot on. Both say or do stupid things just to get attention.

I don't agree with Yang on a lot of things but I do think that's an extremely simplistic and unfair summation of his views on those issues.

"People with other views can't have good reasons for them, so they must be evil" is some childish shit. I don't really like Yang at all but this ain't it

While I don’t disagree much on Yang in general I will say that if he is just looking for attention then this is not the way to go. It seems to me that he is a fan and thinks this is something worth tackling but is not when he has something more important going on.

Not really now though.

Any kinda juice he had a year ago is dried up. He’s just referring wrestlers to a lawyer that works in the area of law and has tried similar fights with UFC talent, he’s not going to do something himself.

Good cause, but yang hasn't shown himself to be a serious person so I doubt it goes anywhere. That said, I hope someone credible takes the lead on this

The chances of any meaningful punishment of Vince or anything industry-shaking are slim to none and Slim got booked to job to Karrion Kross next week. And I will leave it at that. Stranger things have happened. It's different if he can prove that Vince and Co. are in wrong.
