One I missed for ages which is worth some kudos. Nakamura's finisher and the name change in WWE. It used to be called the Boma ye, which is what the crowd chant during the Rumble in the Jungle for Ali. (It means Kill Him, as in finish him, Ali - which he did.)
Obviously you can't have that as the name of a finisher in WWE, so it got changed to... Kinshasa, the city where the Rumble in the Jungle boxing match took place.
So the tribute to Muhammad Ali stands.

It took me a very long time to realize why the Dudley Boyz' finisher was called the 3D.
It was the Dudley Death Drop- three D's.

Why Bret "Hitman" Hart was the Excellence of Execution and used a Sharpshooter as a finish The sharpshooter works, but Monsoon used excellence of execution for a lot of guys, like Steamboat and I believe even Bob Orton. Maybe he repurposed it but it wasn’t invented for Bret. But it stuck for the dude with the Hitman nickname

I remember someone complaining about Neutralizer as a finisher name for Cesaro and missing the joke about the Swiss being famed for maintaining their neutrality, to the extent that they have not participated in a foreign conflict in more than 200 years. Also, that "neutralizing" someone means to kill them or otherwise eliminate them. It's legitimately a very clever finisher name. It has to be a happy accident right? No way WWE put that much thought into it without also sticking him with an "I'm staying neutral!" gimmick.

That the Authors of Pain both of their names were a pun Yeah, Akam and Rezar = "Occam's Razor", the problem-solving principle that basically means "Don't over-complicate explanations without necessity".

Why Little Spike Dudley's finisher was the Acid Drop. He was well into his WWE run before I figured that out. I gotta why WWE didn't use it but could not figure out why it was used in ECW other that "lol drugz, kool".

On a non wrestling side, it took literally decades before I realised that Rodimus Prime name is a mix of the Rod from Hot Rod and Optimus.

Like, 2-3 years at least and one day I was sitting with a buddy and went “……….f*** me it’s the NEUTRALizer because he’s Swiss isn’t it?” And he stared at me like I was an idiot. He might has well have said “Well Duuuuuhhhh!!”

That's not what Occam's Razor is. It's "without other evidence, the simplest explanation is almost definitely the truth"
