The ending pissed me off. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}It felt like the writer went shit how do I make this a series? So we have the father just completely be a piece of shit with millions of dollars and not reunited with his daughter for some dumb reason. And considering they knew he was about to board a flight they could easily just flat out kill him before he could even think about interfering in the games. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Yes, I didn't like the endign either. The father going to see the daughter is a good end.
I get the feeling the execs wanted the sequel bait ending just in case it was a hit.
Bit pointless really. They could always do a sequel series with a new cast.
A series from a guard's point of view would be interesting. If they want to do it with the same actor, do it a "what if he picked a different color at the start"

Yeah I wasn’t a fan of the last episode myself {Spoiler} {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} 454 contestants had died, some of them as a result of Seong Gi-Huns actions and I’m assuming some of them aren’t pieces of s*** but now in the last game he grows a conscience and feels bad for the guy who backstabbed several especially poor Ali and outright killed others? Nah screw that noise
And yeah it would have been real easy to do a sequel with new character and let him have a nice ending too 454 contestants had died [SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW]

There are plenty of ways that you could introduce Seong Gi-hun during the lifetime of the next game. Hell, they already did. You just didn't have to do it this season. It seemed unnecessary and undercut a lot of what they did.

So I'm 4 episodes in..
I'm loving it but getting nervous at the same time.
I'm really starting to like our main characters which I fear is never a good idea in a show where they could be killed at any point >.<
001 is so likeable, please protect him.

Finished it and overall I loved it. Some thoughts. {Spoiler} - Shoutout to the series for making me care about every major contestant sans snake tattoo dude and his loud side-piece. I hated them so much man lol. Also praying dude, didn't care about him much. - Gi-Hun was a bad dude in the beginning but by the end you really saw that he was genunily a good guy at heart, he's just got problems he needs to handle (like being a good dad and gambling). - Sang-Woo man. He really went from someone you cheered for to someone you hated so quickly. Bruh, when he killed Sae-Byeok I cannot tell you how pissed I got. It was so wrong. - Sae-byeok, I really thought it was going to end with her winning this thing. - The detective dying sub-plot with his brother being the Front Man, I don't get it. I guess they'll expound on that in season 2. - Ali didn't deserve that. - Games were all amazingly tense. Never did I think I'd get this tense about people trying to cut out shapes in like a cookie lol. - Ill-Nam's whole reveal at the end. I was saying "wtf" for like 30 seconds after that happened. Yeah, he didn't feel alive anymore (and if you rewatch the games his character acts differently compared to the rest) but damn, I didn't expect that at all. - Man, he was like "f*** this jet" at end. I didn't expect that. I'm guessing for the next seasons (if they do them) it'll focus around him trying to stop these games. We'll get new characters, new games, stuff like that but instead of the detective plot, you've got this. But overall yeah, amazing show.

So my plan was finish off the series this weekend.. However I got so hooked that I just binge watched the whole thing.
Really enjoyed it, really liked the characters as well.
But man holy shit episode 6 really got me..I'm not ashamed to admit I was an absolute sobbing wreck after that episode..Was not expecting that at all.
Even now when I think back on it I get a lump in my throat..
So well done on getting that reaction out of me.
I was a bit on the fence as to whether or not I would actually watch this, but in the end I'm glad I did.

Just finished my binge. I'll parrot what everyone else has been saying about the marbles episode, it was fantastic and while I normally hate live-action dubs, I didn't mind it here because everything was so engaging. Also yeah, the ending sucked. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Is there any reason he couldn't wait until after he saw his daughter to try and stop the games? It's not like those assholes are going anywhere.

{Spoiler}{Spoiler} The VIPs are such a stupid addition. — This show kind of went careening off a cliff after the high point of the marble episode, didn’t it?

Big spoiler here....
So what was the set up for #1? Was he in the game playing it as normal, risking his life or was he always immune like in the marble game where his execution was faked to keep him alive? What would happen if the tug of war went tits up and he fell off with the losers? Or the glass game?

Everyone else has padlocks securing their shackles, his do not have them, the idea seems to be he’d just slip them off in case his team lost. As for the glass game he’d likely never make it that far, with the marbles game most likely being the planned end point for him. The glass stepping stones is just too random to properly plan for.

Also, regarding the ending {Spoiler}I totally get why a lot of people don’t like that Gi-hun makes the seemingly stupid decision to not go see his daughter, but we have to remember that that’s, like, literally who he is. Gi-hun is someone who is well more than willing to set aside his family in a bidding to try and chase “the greater good”. We cannot forget this is the same man who chose joining his fellow employees in a strike over attending to his daughter’s birth. His choice to turn back from seeing his daughter to try and at least attempt to take down the Squid Game is extremely consistent with who he is as a character. It just very conveniently also works out as a sequel hook too.

I've also seen that during the first game he was never targeted if you freeze the screen when you see it through the eyes of the doll.

During the partner selection for marbles he also intentionally just kinda slinks back and hunkers down in a random corner in the room, not actively trying to seek a partner.
