Been getting a lot of buzz about how crazy it is and yeah it is slow first 45 mins but it gets crazy Sort of reminds me of the Manga As The Gods Will with the kids game but yeah based on first episode i'd give it a watch

This is not Splatoon, what gives? Movie adaptations of video games, they never get it right.

Nearly finished it. Episode two with the theme of poverty in one of the most affluent countries in the world (I've lived there even lower middle class people consider two holidays to Dubai a yr a basic human right) is one of the best written episodes I've seen anywhere for ages and makes you care about characters even minor/annoying ones. Editing and score are really good too. Plot; a bit battle royale/Alice in Borderlandish (writers clearly weebs) but that's far from a bad thing and there's enough that's original to make it stand out as its own show. Doing huge numbers too.

The marbles episode was fantastic. Great show overall.

Loved it. The episode where they all play marbles is a low key masterpiece.
I did think the last episode was unfortunately the weakest (and an obvious hook for a sequel), but if they make another I think there's a lot of potential there.

Doesn't look like my thing. I'm over stuff that tries to go out of its way to be edgy.

Doesn't look like my thing. I'm over stuff that tries to go out of its way to be edgy. It's not that it tries to be edgy With the Korean movies and shows they have a way of making movies gritty but still find way of keeping the heart of the movie intact with the characters

I'm not saying something edgy can't also be well written. But if people playing versions of children's games that can actually kill them isn't a show trying to be edgy, I don't know what is.

I imagine that the eventual American remake will miss the point entirely.

I started this on the weekend, and ended up binging through the show without even intending to. I really liked it. That marbles episode in particular was hard. {Spoiler}I did suss out who the Front Man and the Host were by around episode 6 or 7. The former was pretty heavily telegraphed, and the latter was largely based on the typical "if you don't see them die, they're not actually dead" TV/Movie principle; which was also used in that same episode earlier on. I am interested in seeing more from this story, specifically more about how the Front Man ended up in his position, as his motivation was largely left untouched. Anyway, I had a lot of fun with it.

I liked it until the marbles episode, which was great drama. After that the writing fell apart pretty quickly. Some of the social commentary was pretty heavy-handed as well. The finale was very eye-roll worthy, and makes you wonder why you took this long trip when none of these people were worth rooting for.
I will say, one of the best dubbed shows I've seen. The dialogue never took me out of it, because it was synced up almost perfectly.

This show is said to quickly be becoming Netflix's most popular series of all time already.
That's an incredible accomplishment

Finished watching it. Excellent show. Loved, loved, loved the marbles episode.
I called the big twist quite early on, there were a few hints I noticed immediately.
But excellent show.

One thing I didnt get. In the tug of war episode, the camera shows the punk girl seemingly figuring something out with a bit of string. It shows her tying string tigether and tugging it, yet nothing comes of it.
I thought was gonna be her using physics or something. But nope.

Just finished the show. Holy shit what a ride. It was very hard to watch many times but it’s SO well made, well acted, the direction and cinematography is incredible. I couldn’t stop watching. I got so attached to the characters. {Spoiler} episode 6 was BRUTAL. I felt so so bad for Ali and Ji-yeong. When Ali realized he’d been tricked and Ji-yeong threw the game I felt like I got punched in the stomach.
I figured something was up with the old man. Him being the very first one, how quickly he bought into the red light green light game, how they stopped the riot when he cried for them to stop. In retrospect there were a lot of hints but the reveal was very well done. I’m definitely hooked for a second season.

The ending pissed me off. {Spoiler}It felt like the writer went shit how do I make this a series? So we have the father just completely be a piece of shit with millions of dollars and not reunited with his daughter for some dumb reason. And considering they knew he was about to board a flight they could easily just flat out kill him before he could even think about interfering in the games.
